Members Mrs. BilletHead Posted January 8 Members Posted January 8 We've not been good about posting about our Waterfowl hunting! It's been a dry warm year and we have shot very few. Will start with opening day of the middle zone season.....we each shot our limits of green wing teal and wood ducks on a small pond in the bottoms. Thanksgiving day.....the video was deleted 🫤. We each shot a limit of Canada geese. They plucked well and we got a lot of fat rendered from the skin. Another day....went just north of the house we got two canadas and from out of the blue came mallards falling from the sky. We killed two drakes and a hen. VID_20260107_181911.mp4 We had a no picture day....last Saturday....we shot three Canadas. Marty got out of the blind for a walk to another pond. While he was gone, five mallards dropped in front of me and I got two of them! This brings us to today.....set up on a pond loaded with geese and speckle bellies that exited in the dark 😢. Had two canadas drops in and killed both of those. BIG birds!! Some others came in and landed too far away....got nervous and left. Came home and cleaned the birds and harvested the fat inside the birds and the skin for rendering. Picture of sunrise this morning This is an update... hopefully we will get out again!!! Terrierman, Daryk Campbell Sr, Quillback and 4 others 7
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Impressive. Those fillets are huge. Quillback Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Way to go! Any reduction in the number of those obnoxious honking and boat ramp pooping geese is a good thing! 😁 Johnsfolly, Terrierman and BilletHead 2 1
Johnsfolly Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Congrats to you both! Some good eats in Billetheadville! BilletHead 1
