On the strip flash practically disappears. On the pause or at rest it begins to show. This is ongoing evolution of this grinch bug. I think I am about done. fishinwrench 1 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" tjm Posted February 21 Posted February 21 videos didn't work for me. Those are nice little sculpins. One day in trying to find where you tied those for the swap, I searched "grinch fly pattern" and found these https://www.johnkreft.com/streamer-fly-patterns/the-grinch/?sfw=pass1771709325 and https://coloradoflysupply.co/products/grinch-bugger Neither of which was what I wanted, https://forums.ozarkanglers.com/topic/79023-anyone-bored/?page=3#findComment-726262 and that didn't answer my question, of what is the material used for the pectorals?

Travis you are not going to find this out there anywhere at the moment buddy. This is my pattern. There is a key to what makes this different from other patterns that incorporate zonked pine squirrel. The hook and type of bead. Like I told @fishinwrench it has evolved into this one I posted short clips of video wise. So, the answer to your question is zonked pine squirrel. I will try to get you updated on a PM later. tjm Posted February 21 Posted February 21 It was your swap post on this forum that I was looking for and there you said " The head/pectoral fin area and body behind is olive chartreuse UV (?) dyed." but not what was dyed, however after rereading it, I think that was answered earlier as " pine squirrel strips and peeled the face and substandard strips for the dubbing used." In the pictures it looks almost like a synthetic. I did think it funny that others had already used the "Grinch" name. Been a long time since I read Dr. Seuss and I wasn't aware that his works were still popular.

Been a long time since I read Dr. Seuss and I wasn't aware that his works were still popular. The dubbing does almost look synthetic. I made a dubbing blender that uses compressed air to really fluff it up big time. In these updated versions I wanted some flash. Some I used for this batch are straight commercial dubbing. Some I wanted toned down so I mixed some pine squirrel mixed in to complement the basic choice of pine squirrel zonker strips used. The reference to the UV pine squirrel does glow under my UV curing light does glow so the chartreuse dye made it that way. None of the other dyed pine squirrel does that. The grinch who stole Christmas is still popular with kids young and old. My friend who gave this the named it has grandchildren who watch it over and over again during the holidays. tjm 1 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" tjm Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I use a coffee grinder for blending and add pieces of Needloft Plastic Canvas Yarn for extra sparkle. all my dubbing furs and squirrel are undyed natural though so when I get around to copying your fly it will be in shades of gray. BilletHead 1

My wife went to the sewing school once in downtown Chicago and I had time, found a guide (Big River Fly Fishing) , He lives in downtown Chicago and his brother has a place on the Kankakee river, and lets him store his drift boat. .It's about an hour outside the city beautiful Smallmouth fishery and an he is an excellent guide. It's fun to think that he leaves a concrete jungle for an office in a beautiful river. BilletHead 1
