Members Bassinboy14 Posted Wednesday at 03:00 AM Members Posted Wednesday at 03:00 AM For those who’ve took a fly rod to the Destin Florida beaches, what fly patterns have you had most success with? More specifically, late July. I’ll be taking my 8wt with a floating and a sink tip line. Any extra line care tips I need to do besides a wash and dry? dpitt, BilletHead and snagged in outlet 3 3
Flysmallie Posted Wednesday at 12:36 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:36 PM Clouser in tan and white has been the best thing I’ve finished from the beach. I’ve also tossed some gurglers and poppers with success. Fish early. Fish the ditches and troughs close to shore. rinse everything when you are done. Nick Adams, Bassinboy14, dpitt and 1 other 4
dpitt Posted Wednesday at 01:29 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:29 PM Ditto @Flysmallie, I've had luck with chartreuse, and yellow clousers. snagged in outlet 3, Bassinboy14 and BilletHead 3
Troutnut69 Posted Wednesday at 04:18 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:18 PM As stated above , a few clousers for working the depths (dealers choice on color) and I would recommend a small selection of Surf Candy type flies for an unweighted option. In my limited experience surf fishing in Texas and Florida the Surf Candy has been my top producer when fish are actively feeding on schools of baitfish. snagged in outlet 3 Posted Wednesday at 09:04 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:04 PM Ditto what everyone else said. Assortment of clousers including chart/white. But I’ve never been in the height of the summer season. Take a lightweight spinning rod and fish live sand fleas during the day. Might get some pompano. BilletHead and Bassinboy14 2
