  1. What a bummer! That is a tough way to end a derby. Remember one thing, better days are coming.
  2. Dave knows almost all the hotspots to eat! He did leave out a couple of the best............Reeds Spring Pizza (rated #1 in MO. by USA today and they offer a large 1 topping pizza, every Mon. nite for $10). Leona's on old Hwy 13 has good food. The BEST kept secret is the restaurant in Stonebridge at the country club. The BEST omelet in town. We go there almost every Sunday after church. Most people don't realize that it's open to the public, you just stop at the main gate and ask for a guest pass for the restaurant. Now, if only I knew half as much about fishing!
  3. I bet they gave you a ride! Can you imagine catching them 2 months from now, when they are full of fire.
  4. She is my new HERO!!
  5. I fished for whites a few days ago near pt. 15 I only manage to catch two in about 8 ft. of water. Just maybe, the rain will trigger them. Old wise man told me that the whites prefer some rain and a good flushing of our river system to turn them on.
  6. It's 1:30 P.M. and snowing heavy here on the James.
  7. I'm in! Let me know what we are short on and I'll bring it.
  8. Very nice Ben! You're an inspiration to many people who don't have a boat!
  9. Great call! I'm feeling sorry for sore thumbs fishing a derby on Grand Sat. Looks to be HORRIBLE. Now, I'm available both days. Count me in Quill.
  10. Great job Scott! You are on fire this year! These Trock bass are very happy that you are only a part-timer.
  11. Nice fish! Great report. Just proves you don't need a 60 grand boat to catch them.
  12. It looks like most of the area received about 2 inches. I guess I'm going to name my rain gauge the fisherman!
  13. We had a small dog warning yesterday!
  14. I haven't seen that much lighting or heard that much thunder in a long time. The great news is my rain gauge shows almost 4 inches. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but we received some much needed rain. Hopefully, it will turn on the white bass and enable us to get up the rivers to catch them. I haven't heard of anyone who has been really catching them on the Rock. I heard from a friend, that the wb run will not be good until the rivers get a good flushing.
  15. It's an old trick Quill! Remember OLD Spoony would be happy to take you anytime that you would want to venture this direction. I'm not much of a guide, but I do leave a ton of fish for my partner.
  16. Nice Fish!! It looks to me that you had Mike McClelland for a guide. Good job Scott!
  17. Great report! Thank You for sharing all the details. I'm happy to see that you got a check. There was a lot of good sticks, that never won a dime. I know that fishing the derbies is fun and exciting, but I didn't envy any of you blasting across the water in the early A.M.
  18. Thank you for the awesome report! I can feel your pain, as I've been there, as well as many others on this forum. It was a great pleasure to meet you at the weigh-in. I'm sure you realize that a lot of people were rooting for Mike & Mike to sweep both sides of the derby. Congrats on a good tournament and for speaking so highly of all your partners. Good luck and may God bless you.
  19. Great report Quill! I can't believe someone wouldn't offer to take you fishing, while your trailer is being repaired. I know it's a drive to cape Fair marina, but I would be happy to share my boat with you.
  20. I totally agree! I had the pleasure of meeting Mike after the weigh in today. What a fine young man he is and a good fisherman as well.
  21. I think it will be a two horse race between Randy Sullivan and Mile Mcclelland. It's going to be hard to catch them the way the Rock is fishing at the moment. I don't believe the Rock is going to give up any 20 lb sacks today. Top weight today will be 18 lbs for McClelland. Mike Jones wins co-angler with 8.3 lbs (Go Mike and Mike)
  22. Good Luck! If it's meant to be it will happen. The only big derby that I've ever won, was one I almost withdrew from. I was having severe back spasm and I couldn't hardly cast. It was a Bass weekend deal and I had signed up as a non boater (3 fish limit). I somehow, (from the grace of God) managed to catch 3 nice fish. I caught all 3 fish from noon til 1 P.M. and than put my rod down and quit for the day. My boater thought I was crazy (he didn't realize how much pain I was in), I told him I would continue to fish when he had his limit. Unfortunately he only weighed in four. I ended up winning the deal and had big bass with a 4.5 SM. It only proves when it's meant to be, it will be!
  23. One interesting fact is, 112 co-anglers never weighed a keeper. That is some tough fishing and makes for a long day.
  24. I have used EVERY product known to man plus a few. I used to have splits in both hands so bad they would bleed. I used various super glues to seal up the wound (I feel as long as surgeons can use this stuff, it might be safe). I found that almost every product would give me temporary relief, the eczema would become immune to the treatment and come back with vengeance. Two years ago I stumbled across the right combo (not sure what that combo was), and my hands are totally healed. I still haven't found the exact treatment for my ankle, but it is much less of a problem than someones hands.
