  1. I'm trying hard to visualize Champ fishing a spoon..............Donna maybe?????????
  2. I have one in Kimberling City if you want to drive that far.
  3. The topwater bite has been dead on the James for me this last week.
  4. Topwater + whites= BTS!!!! Please don't tell the better half!
  5. Great report Bill! This is what we've been waiting for, as topwater is a good as it gets. Put some of that ned rig glue to use on those hands. If that report doesn't fire you up, you probably need to find another pastime.
  6. Congrats Darren! Great tournament and great report! I think most of the LM and SM have spawned as there has been some good quality fish taken in the 15 to 20 ft range. I know there will be some fish spawning clear into June, especially the Spots. The off color water in the Dam area just might be a blessing as it' tough to sight fish and may help with a more successful spawn.
  7. Glad you enjoyed the lake. We have these fish trained to keep their mouth shut during tournament hours. I happened to be fun fishing on Saturday and found it incredibly tough considering the conditions. That is normally the type of weather that I pray for. It has not been a typical year for most of us as most fish are not in a chasing mood. It won't be long and they will start to get more active (I hope).
  8. Great detailed report! Nice fish too! It has been a tough week for lots of people. I think Dave is correct, this pond fishes more like Stockton this year. In 45 years of fishing, I have never seen so much color from Kimberling City to the Dam. Plus the fact we are right in the middle of the spawn, which can make it tough catching the big girls. Thank God for the brown fish as they seem to always be ready to play.
  9. In order for you to catch a virgin smallmouth , you are going to have to fish at least 1 (one) mile from hwy 13 bridge.
  10. Now for the million dollar question. What percentage of all bass species are lm in the Rock? Who on this site would believe the state of Missouri would be smart enough to supplement lm on any of the Ozark lakes.
  11. The brown fish are happy that you're going home today. We are not! Going to miss you and the reports. We do have a solution, as there are several homes for sale within 1 mile of hwy 13 bridge. Have a safe trip!
  12. There may be a mutual attraction.
  13. This is another reason I like 10 to 20 lb.braid with a 6 lb. fluorocarbon leader tied with a albright knot. I tie a 6 to 8 ft. leader, as it goes throw the guides with that knot. This allows me to retie several times without changing me leader.
  14. I had the pleasure of fishing with MR. NED today. Three days in a row attempting to train another Yankee. This time, a soon to be 70 type Yankee boy. I have known Dave for a few years, but never had the privilege of fishing with this fine young man. This guy has a heart as big as his 21 ft Ranger and is so willing to help others to catch fish. He gave me lesson A,B, and C by 8 A.M. and this guy can flat catch fish. This man has a love affair for those brown fish that is incredible. I do think it's a one way love affair; as one of those big brownies whispered to me , and asked, when is this machine going home. I think every smally within a mile of Kim City has been caught several times. Yes boys, I got spanked severely today by a great fisherman, but I did get the last laugh. Dave broke off a fish and 2 minutes later I caught a fat spot with about a foot of line and a ned rig completely down the gullet. Dave gently pulled on the line and it came straight out and yes, it was Dave's ned. It just happened to be his double secret color (now I have one). What a guy...........takes you fishing, trains a Yankee, gives you his fish, and gives you his secret bait. What a guy!! Thanks again for a great day on the Water with a great guy. Good luck and God bless You!! P.S. Just maybe Dave will post the picture to support my story.
  15. Try spraying your line with Line & Lure Conditioner. I use it daily with any lure that causes line twist.
  16. Great fish and great report! Those brown fish are going to be happy when April 27th gets here.
  17. Great detailed report!!! That should help some folks who are struggling with the crappie bite.
  18. Great fishing and a better story! Just when you think that you have seen it all.........at least he didn't stick a hook in you. I bet you didn't let him throw the jerkbait.
  19. Nice fish Dave! Expect a slow bite until next Wed. That is my prediction, as it is getting close to the real deal.
  20. Great fish Bill!! It's nice to see someone get rewarded for putting sooooo much effort into making this a great site. It often pays big dividend to help others, as you always do. It just makes it very special to enjoy the day and the moment with great friends.
  21. I don't think spots get that big. I believe it's a largemouth.
  22. Spinnerbait- 7.56. Great fish!!!!!
  23. I would guess crankbait!
  24. It is a little fish bait, that will occasionally catch BIG fish!!! Lets keep it our little secret!!
