Everyone should use what they like. Nanofil is my choice of line on most of my spinning rods. I don’t use nano at all on baitcasting. i use 6,8, and 10 lb white or chartreuse Nanofil. I want to see the line jump when a fish bites. I don’t think nano is picky about knots. Alberto or triple surgeons to join leader to nano. Double unit to connect nano to nano. I never tie it directly to anything with nano, but I would use a double Palomar if I wanted to do so. Nano most definitely out throws braid with 1/16 or 1/8 oz lures. It’s not close. I’ve used braid (Power Pro) and nano in similar diameters on the same rods/reels. I don’t throw 1/32 oz jigs on nano. I’ve gone back to 4lb mono or copoly for that. Nano is amazingly not for everybody I guess, but it’s made me a Happy Camper and better fisherman .

A Big Thank You to Phil for hosting us at Lilley’s Landing. It’s s First Class Operation. The rooms are nice. The boat dock is awesome. Fly Shop has Everything you could need to fish Taneycomo. Duane is awesome. I can’t Thank him enough, but I’ll try. Right out the gate, I had a spot of motor trouble and he got me squared away. It started without fail after that. Pictures don’t do Duane’s painting skills justice. His Sculpin pattern is awesome. I have a strange fondness for Rainbow Trout color baits. Duane does a Great one. got the hook up. New baits to try. Saturday Morning, Duane was nice enough to take John and I out and give us a jerkbait lesson. I got bites, but no fish on hard baits. I had to throw a jig, but John got his Taney Brown. Never let Duane fool you. He’s very, very Good at a whole bunch of things. I’m Sorry out trip got splintered into two groups. I certainly enjoyed the food and fellowship. I’ll hope to see you guys in February.

Everything from 4G to NO SERVICE. It gets better all the time, but still large areas with poor to non existent coverage for ATT. Sometimes Verizon is much better.

Les will have boat and two spots open. He was planning on food, but I need an email to cut and paste those plans. -

Friday morning. Boat 2 seats. Will fish Friday and Saturday. Likely going off the reservation Sunday -
Ok, I hate to be that guy, but Im that guy. I called and talked to Miles. He’s a good guy. Very laid back and understanding. I told him we will reschedule for February and I hope you guys will help me out there. We will need to pull dates together and make that happen. Jigfest Taneycomo is being pulled together. I’ll post deets when I get em.

Ehhhhh Jeff, that’s my number. Try again?

So, should we 1) Carry on and make it work 2) re-schedule until February 3) Move Jigfest to Taneycomo?

Ok, this afternoon the water running by the house looked AWFUL. Unfishable BAD. I’ve been keeping an eye on things and this is the first bad water I have seen. I know that Bull Shoals and Norfork are finishing turning over and today for the first time in a long while they ran approx 10,000 CFS for 3 hours. That tends to stir things up also. So this BAD water might may pass prior to Friday. i checked with mojorig about the lakes and he feels like turnover is largely over. With the cold weather I expect more generation which should help flush things out, but I am honestly spooked by the brown water. now combine the poor water quality along with marginal water conditions sand I feel like I need to see if the group wants to reschedule until February or stay on this weekend and relocate to Taneycomo. I’d bet Phil can accommodate us. My understanding is thatalthough Taney has some stain, it is still fishing normally. I spoke with Dave Wotton when I went up to check the water at White Hole this afternoon. The water looked better at White Hole, but worse than it looked last week when I fished there. He said he caught fish today. He felt like conditions were not perfect today, but he did mention a BWO hatch. I saw lots of fish feeding up in the water column the other day and caught some of them too. 😉 It is not my call. I wanted to pass along what I saw. I live locally ; I will still fish if we stay on schedule and fish here this weekend, but I did not want ppl to feel blinded sided by possible tough water conditions. What do y’all think we should do?

Sometimes, it’s easier to steer around trouble than use your brakes to prevent a collision. When you are a guest in a boat, you should abide by the Captin’s safety concerns.
-
Only because I thought he might roll the boat and kill us all. Let me get a 60 inch wide boat and ppl can put a chair on the front deck if they want.
-
Ooh-rah Marine. Seems like you’ve fished thru pain a lot. I hope you’re rain as rain this time around
-
I’ve run my boat when the air temp was 16 degrees so that’s not really an issue. Sometimes they freeze to the trailer and you have to wait a little bit for the trailer to drop loose.
-
Let’s wait until Wednesday and see what they guess then. Jeff can call Miles and discuss the issues with him. IF we need less space or need to cancel all together, I’m sure Miles will work with us. It is possible that road conditions will be so bad that we need to scrap the whole deal. I hate it, but it might be that way. Took me at least 40 years to realize some weather is just not safe to fish in.

Does my raincoat make me look FAT ?

Generation changes clean the bottom of the boat ramps. Parking lots not so much. This is Buffalo City.

Do me a personal favor. Come fish with me in a 20 foot boat and you should quickly see that the extra length is a good thing. I’m not putting down any boat, but there is a reason so many ppl use the traditional Trout Jon. I personally believe you would safer and more effective fishing from the 20 footer. I have not followed the Jigfest threads closely enough to see how many seats are open, but that’s a chance to ride in a couple of different boats.

We will have a pretty good idea what we are in for by Wednesday

Bring It! We will have the river to ourselves and the silly trout don’t care if it’s cold. we can bundle up and stay warm (ish).
