Good for you holleybob. The Buffalo is a wild river and given the unstable weather of Spring, I would say the weather/water was about as good as you could reasonably expect. I have this fishing addiction. That would make it almost impossible for me to do that trip and be happy with the floating and the fishing. I love the concept and I'm more than a little jealous.

well, that sucks. I hate that the Blues didn't get to play for the cup. They had games where they looked so good against the Sharks and games where the Sharks were clearly better. I don't really understand it. Hitch couldn't figure it out either. I understand the frustration with the playoff format, but it is their party. The GM's, teams, and the NHL determine how they do these things. First and foremost is making money. I get all goofy and start thinking it is some higher thing, but it is just entertainment and making a bunch of money. It is natural to get emotionally invested and I have not figured out a way to get the highs without the lows. Let's Go Pens!

Minimum flow. 600 CFS. 8 mph wind from the south. Air temp mid 70's. Cloudy. water much more stained than usual from recent heavy rains. Visibility of about 18 inches. I caught them. Took the Coosa and paddled upstream. I threw 1/16 oz Zig Jigs. I could catch them on Triple Olive. I got smart and switched to a Brown/Orange for higher visibility. Zero fish. Zero bites. Nothing nada zip. I gave it multiple tries just to prove a point. I could throw the triple olive and get bit swap and get no bites. This happened three times. The bite on triple olive would be first or second cast. I would give brown Orange 10 casts. I fished 2 1/2 hours after work. I caught 32 including a fat and angry 18 inch Brown. He Jumped clear of the water 4 times. I was laughing out loud. What a hoot. I had a lot of other chances and lost a dozen fish I had hooked. Never lost a jig, but that triple olive one is looking pretty rough. It's caught 40 plus fish at this point.

I've considered making a large painted sign that says "I'm not dead, I'm sleeping" that I could put up in the boat while I was napping. The multiday daylight to dark trips can be exhausting.

That was a crazy game. It could have been 5-0 or 6-0 going into the third, but their goalie was playing great. It also could have been 3-3. Murray didn't face as many actual shots on net, but they had their chances. They are both good teams that have both won on the road. I'm hoping like heck that it is the Pens winning at home, but honestly... I was glad to see the one bad Malkin penalty didn't hurt them. He's got a really bad habit of taking unnecessary penalities because he's mad about something. Selfish. I really expect them to trade him. He is so strong with the puck though I think the Pens played the Third just like they wanted to except I don't think they were planning on Kessel putting one past Murray. I aint hatin, it happens. It was very tight, but in the end Bolts over committed and got burned. The empty netter was icing, but I loved it.

As Dave pointed out to me, not all sizes of the Matzuo Sickles are the same. I have had ver good luck with the 2/0 and 3/0 sizes. I have had far too many mystery "get offs" with the #2 and #1 sizes. I do well with the #4 hooks in panfish heads. ie it doesn't seem to be a great hook for Ned heads. I prefer the Matzuo sickle, but one down side of their low cost is that some of the hooks seem less than perfect. You may have to throw a few out before you pour your jigheads or at the very least make sure they are sharp before you fish them.

You are certainly entitled to believe whatever you want to believe. However, that doesn't make it true. If I choose to believe that chocolate milk comes from brown cows, I'm blissfully ignorant and live in my own delusions. I am sponsored by my 40 hours a week at the salt mine NOT by any lure company. If I were sponsored, I'd still tell the truth. Every lure is a tool. Some tools are better for particular job than others. I love fishing a spook. I love when it works. It is not always the best tool for the job. There are times when the WP absolutely is. I choose to be ready for those conditions.

Lol, for Dave, holding off on a lure is only having 5 of them. I have 3 of the 130's and 8 of the 90's. I have purchased all I plan to purchase less I lose or break some. So far, having the 130's has been a waste of money. I really worry about the color of top water lures. Most likely, I worry about that more than I should. I would suggest getting 2 or 3 colors and seeing if it works for you. You can always buy more later. I am concerned that the lure will become less effective when more people throw it, but there's not a whole lot you can do about it.

Always good to think about things when you are getting bites, but not landing the fish, BUT it could have been the way they were biting it that night.

I was so hopeful the Pens could win tonight. A 3-1 series lead is ALMOST a lock. Back to Pittsburgh. MAF will likely start in goal. Hopefully, they will study the tape and try to start like Game Four ended. Let's Go Pens!

I really haven't worried about brand of split rings a whole lot. I have Worth and Bass Pro XPS I think. The Spro would be fine, but I'm not sure you get anything for the extra expense. I got 3 sizes of the ovals for putting in the nose of baits and three sizes for attaching hooks to lures. I also have various size snap locks for certain baits.

Yep, lots of guys are banging on WP as being an "old" lure, but it was made with a smaller profile for bass fishing. It's new to bass fishermen because of the smaller profile, prior to the WP losing a hook on me, I had seen one split ring failure on a fish. One. That was a DB3 with 7 plus LMB. We still caught the fish as it had both hooks in its mouth. I know of two split ring failures with the WP in the short time it has been available. I had one QB had one. I would guess there are others amongst ppl I know that I have not heard about. The easy step is to swap them out. I had better hook up and landing %'s when I when to Gamakatsu's hooks on the WP as well. YMMV.

I have a larger issue with hooks being too small or the wire too thin. I don't trust the hooks on the Whopper Ploppers at all and the hooks on the Deps Buzz Jet Jr are just too small.

1/8 oz Zig Jigs. Triple Olive, Black, Brown/Orange, and Olive/Ginger.

I need to remind myself to swap out all the split rings on my WP's when I get a little time.
