  1. Bryozoans. Strang colony of filter feeders. Maybe kinda like a gooey coral. They were having a big year before the water fell. Lol.
  2. My old Tarpon is finally taking on enough water that I need to repair it. My first task will be locate the source of the incoming water. IF it is a spot I can reach from the inside, I may be able to do a DYI plastic weld at home. IF it turns out to be a job that I can not do, is there a rotomolded kayak repair service in the area?
  3. The Cuda is basically JK's Tarpon 120
  4. The sales guy was pushing the HD because you can move t he seat forward and back either gaining keel for lake fishing or reducing keel for river situations. You wife will miss the seat, but a Perception Pescador 12 foot boat is still pretty comfortable and would paddle faster. FULL DISCLOSURE: I tend to want to hang onto stuff forever. I wouldn't sell the Coosa, but might sell the Big Rig and put that towards an HD
  5. My goodness what a fish. Well done Jeff.
  6. I hope to be able to have friends over at the bluff lot eventually. Look forward to meeting you at Jigfest Eric. It's a gathering of a lot of great guys that I have been blessed with getting to know a little bit.
  7. I'll keep an eye open around Mountain Home.
  8. Justin Spencer is the man. I would call Sunburst Ranch and ask him about current conditions. IF we get a heavy rain that may screw things up, but in general, Yes, you can certainly use and enjoy the drift boat. Trout eat all year. I'm confident the trout will bite. I don't know how far your drive is, but I would think it is worth the drive.
  9. Mr Babler has always been very generous with the information he gives away even though it could get in his way. He does tend to fish MUCH further off the bank than most of us are comfortable doing and he relies on his electronics (because he can) a lot more than most as well. I guess you were reffering to a particular bite he was on recently because the bite is always changing and I feel like he changes right along with it.
  10. Hsa anyone tried to read Tryon's directions/descriptions?
  11. color matters when it matters. AND It always matters to me when I am fishing topwater lures.
  12. You guys are killing me. Tough to decide between BSL and Norfork. I'm Going shallow and dirty on either lake next chance I get.
  13. The area I would expect them to stick and stay in is the lower Buffalo.
  14. I'm so ready for the > 15K generation to STOP. I have to think that is going to happen soon. It is iinteresting that walleye continue to show up. I have not heard of any walleye being caught in the lower Buffalo, but I have some interest in seeing if they establish themselves in the Buffalo. The Yeollow perch is another interesting thing. I caughht one down river miles below where the Buffalo dumps in. I also tried to sight fish one at White Hole. He was nose down on my jig, but then he did not bite. I lost sight of him when current pushed me away, but I know it was a perch. Now you have that big one by the dam. I wonder if they have or will establish themselves in the White or CC or the Buffalo. It does not seem like the White River ends up being a tough enviroment for them. I'm not happy that you are struggling by your normal standards, but I am happy that I am not the only one havng to work a LOT harder to catch fish with the extra water.
  15. There are a lot of >16 inch Bows in the Blue and White Ribbon areas. I'm not sure why I don't hear more about ppl going there to fish. This is a Great time of year to fish there. The crowds are gone and the weather has been great. Book a trip with Brian and get after them.
  16. 40 species for the year. Added Warmouth, Spotted Sunfish, Sauger. I caught bigger Redear and Flathead.
  17. I like the fingerless gloves. I carry multiple pairs of the micro fleece gloves. Wring them out when they get wet and almost all the water comes out. Much better than no gloves. Hand warmers for truly awful cold days. Like < 25 degrees. The Stick on hot patches for back ache or whatever get really warm and stay there for hours. Another option to look at. Not cheap, but only a few dollars and could make a big difference in your comfort level if you are determined to stay out all day in the cold.

  19. I hate to disagree with Champ, but I will. I tend to worry about color with top water baits even more than I worry about colors with other baits (which is too much). I see the WP as a solid body buzzbait. Most of the colors look pretty good. Champ's advice about getting a shad color is solid. I also think a black one would be handy to have. My my only concern about the WP is that with so many ppl throwing it that the fish will become conditioned to it pretty soon.
  20. Northern Hog Suckers on a crankbait! Very Nice!. The James seems to be loaded with Channel cats. I havent fished the James that often, but I have caught multiple channel catfish there.
  21. Hmmmm, I never thought of that, but I would guess that the bottom is irregular as you move around. Shallow spots and deep spots. Constant dialing in and then re dialing in again. I have noticed when I can get my depth right and my drift right. I can catch several from a spot before I have to move on. Again, best of luck Pete.
  22. They work very well down to size #2. I've caught bluegill on #2's, ive never used a 8/0.
  23. I never found that to be very helpful. I just want to know the actual CFS being released from all sources. I hope you do well.
  24. Yes Sir. They make circle hooks small enough for trout. The Bass Pro in Little Rock had them down to size 6 (maybe smaller). I'm not sure about locations where you could buy them.
