  1. Plus, it's more enjoyable to me to fish with quality gear. I don't own Shimano Stellas nor G.Loomis NRX rods, but I do buy quality rods and reels. They in general are lighter and perform better than less expensive rods and rees. This makes for a more enjoyable day on the water in my experience anyway.
  2. Lol, the Zara Spook was released in the plastic version in 1939, but it ain't old enough for you.
  3. The fish by the dam ARE not doing what the fish up lake are doing. The lake is so long and varied in depth a lot too. The fish by the dam are a week or two behind the other fish. Jimmy Creek is slow to warm up as well, but there are lots of fish there to be caught.
  4. I'm sure it is an added bonus that folks get to try before they buy the better stuff. A lot of times I wish I could do that with rods before buying them. I'm sure it is a Mutally benefiting relationship between Mr Babler and Falcon. I love my Cara T7 6'10" MH bait caster. It's a very good stick for a lot of my my fishing. I have a lot of interest in the jerkbait Rod Mark was talking about. Truth be told there are a lot of great rods being build these days. Falcons are in that group.
  5. I certainly understand your frustration. You are out money and time on the deal. Sometimes boats seem like more trouble than they are worth. My only question is, did you give them a chance to make things right before posting your poison pen letter?
  6. Not uncommon. They just don't do all that well in the river. I think they rely on bug hatches too much. Larger ones are less common.
  7. Dang! You got a spare room Dave?
  8. I have described myself as living and dying on every hookset and that is often the sad truth. I take it way too seriously. So I had a pseudo-epiphany on my trip down south, we had to scramble a little to find them, but in the end we caught them ok. We had a good time together which was the real point of the whole deal. If we had not been at the right place at the right time, we might not have caught much at all, but it really wouldn't have said all that much about our skill level as fisherman. I do keep coming back to the fact that catching fish is a lot more fun than not catch them. I've never been a bass only guy. I enjoy all kinds of fish and often another guys trash fish is a treasure to me, but I'm still learning to have a good time even when the fishing is slow. I want to whack em every time out.
  9. I do think it's gonna take 100 lbs. I think there are all kinds of things working. Wobble head jig is catching fish, swim baits, bed fishing, cranking, Carolina rigging. I how to get some intell post tourny.
  10. What a lake though!
  11. Hey I've seen it somewhere in the house a time or three since last December. I've got to tweak the wake bait box anyway. I ll pull it together before 4-18-15
  12. I know you love your boy and I know your boy loves you. You guys are going to have so much fun together.
  13. I bought one of these so long ago that I hope I can still find it to put it in the boat
  14. They are KILLING IT. I cant wait to fish there.
  15. I put the Tarpon 100 in a lake near Minden, La when I lived there. I had a few hours that I could fish and it was a lot easier than putting the big boat in. I had seen gators there before. the biggest one I had seen was about an 8 footer. There are almost always gattors there even if you never see them. The fishing was decent and I of course ended up staying longer than anticipated and darkness caught me before I got back to the ramp. it was pretty darn dark. No moon and no lights. No big deal right, gators really arent very aggressive towards ppl. Right before I made the last little turn to the take out an unseen beaver did a massive tail slap about 5 foot off the port of the bow. I had a split second of serious anxiety before I reasoned out what had just happened. darn beavers.
  16. I do have photos of "most" of them. Some of my pics are not fashion mag quality, Lol. The less common ones for sure. Of course, I will post them. I kind of did that last year. I am on pace for 33 of so species this year MORE if I won't be lazy and if I will sacrifice some numbers for variety. I sure hope I can get a Log Perch and a Yellow Perch this year. I have plans. I always have plans. I'll be looking forward to your daughters progress. I hope she gets to 20 species.
  17. BassCat OI is at Bull Shoals next year (Woot!) and Guntersvillie in 2017! I'm making plans already. I don't have a rat's a** chance of winning, but I'll enjoy being there.
  18. Is this thing a decent search bait that I can fish fast to locate some decent fish and then lock down on the area and pick it clean with other baits?
  19. Looks like a great lake to go burn a crap ton of gasoline. Lol.
  20. After I get a lobotomy, I plan on dragging mine around on 15 lb Abraz X. Right now I am so over thinking the bait that I rarely get bit with it.
  21. I'm at 21 species for the year. I've got a handful of easy ones that live local that I have not caught yet.
  22. Ham

    Drum today

I love catching them. They bite hard and fight hard. In the clean water areas of BSL, they take on a bronze overtone. I hope they enjoy the zebra mussels.
  23. I'm guessing the capacity was reduced from 100 conversations to 50. I've been trimming away and I am still WAY over the limit.
  24. It seems like in the Ozark lakes when dealing with dirty water, you can either find cleaner water or go ahead and get to the really dirty stuff and power fish. It doesn't usually work too well to fish the normal baits in the normal ways in abnormally stained water.
