  1. No. Find something closer that is fishing better.
  2. It might make things tough for a little while, but there is a HUGE upside in how successful the spawn is going to be. Should make for lots of baby bass, walleye, and crappie. Annoying little bluegill turds are no where to be seen yet.
  3. I thought I fished "SLOW" until I fished with Wayne.
  4. My preference is about 7 miles in a 10 hour day under optimal conditions. Try to know so landmarks along the river so that you can guage your speend.
  5. Worked early yesterday and I work late today so I shoe horned a quick trip to BSL inbetween. Fished from 7 PM until 10:30 PM. Mainly fished Jimmy Creek. Water is CLEAR. Gin. Water temp ~ 63 ' wind was light. We caught a few bass almost immediately. Lots of fish cruising. Lots of fish on beds immediately under the buck brush. They should be safe and have a GOOD spawn IF they leave the water level up for a couple more weeks. We caught all three species of bass and all were good chunks, but maybe two keepers. Lots of follows and lookers, but the bites we got were the real deal. Pretty disappointed by an absolute lack of bites after dark. Not a whiff. Tried jerkbaits, swimbaits, grubs, flicker shads, and spinnerbaits after dark. Nada. I was also disappointed to get zero bites on my Super Spook Jr late in the day. It got nothing. I really expected it to get crushed. Today should be awesome IF you're lucky enough to have the day off. Lake is pretty busy. Lots of folks out trying to enjoy themselves. Don't expect to be lonely.
  6. Looking at reports from TR, I keep seeing nice photos of Rock Bass caught while scrubing a grub. I've caught good numbers of them when I used to fish TR and scrubbed a grub or fished during springtime with other stuff. I've caught them on Norfork Lake whith a grub, but I can't remember catching Rock Bass on BSL. Green Sunfish yes, Bluegill, yes. Redear Sunfish, a very few, but yes. Crappie, Hell Yes. Pumpkinseed, yes. Yellow Perch, yes. But I can't remember catching true Rock Bass. Anybody catching Rock Bass on BSL ?
  7. The finesse stuff always "works", but it is NOT always the best option. This was hard for me to learn when I went almost whole hog into Slider fishing 20 years ago. That's a purty jighead you made. As fired up as you've gotten everybody over the Ned Rig, you need to mass produce your favorite jigheads and offer them for sale. I'll likely be placing a Gopher order soon. I'm leaning towards unpainted jigheads because they are a little less expensive and I've never been able to tell that a painted jighead made any diffetrence to the fish. Your thoughts on painted jigheads?
  8. Edwin, I actually like the standard guides better and I like the full handle better. I will PM you with my contact info. I'd love to make a swap if you are interested. I know you will have other options as well. Thanks!
  9. Of course, Is it the micro guides?
  10. I fished from about 3 pm until 6 pm. They've been running 2500-4500 fcfs for > 24 hours. Of course, it started raining about the time I hooked the boat up, BUT the wind was minimal which Is great for me. I went down to Red's Landing. Water was a little dingy which doesn't help and I really prefer to trout fish in the sunshine. UNLESS I'm targeting Brown trout. Not a lot of Browns down at Reds, but good numbers of fish at times. I struggled to find a lure that got bit fast enough for my liking. Everything worked a little bit, but nothing was working well. I went through about 6 colors of my Zig Jigs before deciding that black or white was my best choice. I also had to play with my retrieve a bunch to find a good one. I ended up catching 24 trout, 1/2 of which came in the last 30 minutes. I needed to get home for supper and I was tired of the rain anyway. I got a real healthy Brown and a 1/2 dozen or so piggy Rainbows. Unlike bass, Trout bite everyday UNLESS the water is trashed. If I have decent water, I will catch at least a few trout.
  11. Edwin I have a 6'2" St Croix Avid MXF I'd love to sell you or trade for one of your Cara's. It seems just a little too short for me to be comfortable with anymore. Do take a look at the Browning Medallion rods. They make a 6 foot medium.
  12. What's the bottom width.

    Walleye

I've caught three Walleye on Hula Grubs this year. I never expected to catch one, but three?

    Walleye

You should come down and fish. We have two walleye guides that regularly post on the forum. Col. Ron and Mike Worley. I catch more than a few accidental walleye bass fishing, but I think they catch more accidental bass while walleye fishing. I'll let them chime in when they notice this thread since they know their game better than I do. Trolling cranks or bottom bouncing crawlers seem to be very popular. The bite is about to get HOT.

    Any Blues Fan's

Yep , Blues fan since like 1983 or so. Bernie Ferdinko days. They made that game way harder than it had to be. BUT I am primarily a Pittsburgh Penguins fan from 1979. Pre Mario. Love the Pens HATE the flyers.
  16. I hate global warming.
  17. Thanks for the report. Trust me NOBODY catches them EVERYTIME. You guys didn't zero and that was a HUGE bass for BSL that you got boat side. it's a shame you didn't get to release her after a quick photo, but I remember the ones that got away more than the ones I catch. Every fishing report helps others trying to put stuff together for their next trip. I try to include water temps, general area of the lake, water color, and a few other details. I usually only fish the lakes in Spring and Fall so water temp is huge for me.
  18. Blue Thunder, Red Thunder, Monkey Milk, Threadfin Shad, Bleeding Shad, Baby Bass, Gum Drop, and Crawdad.
  19. If yo're fishing clear water, get some Bobby Garland Baby Shads and don't look back. I love GYCB stuff, I won't consider buying the crappie gear.
  20. What are you looking to do with said spinning rod? There is a local manufacturer that has a 7 foot rod I love to fish trout and open hook lures for panfish. Great rod for SR 5 and road runners or CD 7 etc. Ozark Mountain Traditions. I think it is rated for 4-8 lb line and 1/16 to 1/4 oz. I fish 4-6 lb on it without any issue.
  21. IT wouldn't be popular, but it would be pretty easy to de-populate the elk if it was determined to be necessary. Extended season with either sex being OK to harvest. Lots of people own .30-06 rifles don't they?
  22. it sucks a lot harder when you have a jet. 1) Back the trailer in so that it points downstream a little 2) play with how far you need to have the trailer in the water 3) hit the trailer with some speed by waiting to the last second and cutting the nose in on the down current back edge of the trailer. I've been putting boats on trailers since I was 8 years old. After roughly 40 years of experience with props, trying to load a boat with a jet motor made me look like a fool. At first.
  23. You're likely the only guy in Arkansas to throw Keitech at carp. Don't get me wrong, I'm jealous as hell. Looks like a ton of fun. NIce electronics. I'm not getting that quality look out of mine yet.
  24. Hey JD, The boat looks very nice. I hope you use and enjoy the heck out of it. I have a barely used Lowrance X-125 with box and docs that I would love to sell or trade. I bought it about 3 years ago and had just gotten it installed when my Yammy blew. It's just been sitting around in a cabinet. Let me know if interested, Ham

    4/27 Report

Have the wife throw an a rig with 3 inch swimbaits for walleye or an SR-5 or SR-7 which WILL catch a little bit of everything, but walleye and crappie should hit it more than the other stuff. I do think the I've caught more walleye in the Buck creek to Tucker Hollow areas, but I have caught some nice ones out of Oakland. Consider fishing after dark for Walleye.
