It may be small solace, but Arkansas is doing lots better than a lot of states.
BRMC is having a mass vaccination event 2/2/21. We will be administering 1300 doses in a 10 hour period. That should take some of the pressure off the local pharmacies and help move people up the wait list.
You had to sign up online last Wednesday. They made the announcement on the radio last Wednesday in the morning and all the spots were filled in a few hours. I might suggest you call the hospital and ask to be placed on the standby list in case some people don’t show for their appointments.
The vaccines will be given at a scheduled time at the Baxter County Fairgrounds.
BRMC will likely do a couple more of these events if we are allocated more vaccine. If I find out that another will be done, I will try to PM you to check the website each morning or listen to the radio. The sign up app is only on the website until the vaccines are all spoke n for.
The state is giving hospitals 25% and local pharmacies 75%. The thought was that pharmacies were more widespread, but most lack the staff to give the vaccines very quickly. It’s not that they have more important things to do, but people do need the prescriptions filled and they are basically only giving the vaccines as a community service.
If you’re not involved in the process, you probably don’t understand how labor intensive and logistically difficult it is to vaccinate everyone. The hospital has a large staff and it is still demanding and exhausting.
