  1. With the ability to market and the NIL money I don't like the sit outs. Provided those players were truly only playing for scholarships then I kind of get it. The NFL contract has guaranteed money but they can be injured in practice 1 and miss out on further contracts. Doesn't really matter anyways because most don't make it that far and a significant number of them end up squandering their money. Here is the reality: Joe Burrow won the Heisman and CFP in the same year. Could anyone imagine him sitting out the playoff because he was a lock for a $36 million payday? What would most of us do or miss out on for a $36 million payday? I'd argue if the money and NFL is the end goal then the CFP isn't worth it. However if he did sit.....NFL scouts and front offices would eviscerate him for not being committed like they should. Trevor got blasted because he said he didn't need football to feel worthy, imagine someone not playing in the CFP. They should treat guys sitting out other bowl games the exact same way. Heck I'm not sure why Treylon Burks played after the first lost of the season if your not going to play in the first real bowl game in years.
  2. No worries I have time. Since I am working within the Western Natives Challenge and the State specific challenges I only have options for 3 or 4 spots on each with overlap so I'm not completely blind going in.
  3. Here are mine in order of importance: Gila Trout Apache Trout NM trout slam 1 level of Arizona trout challenge 2 more Arkansas Master Anglers 1 trout park lunker(not RR) I've got a couple more want-to's on the list but I'm not sure how travel will work out.
  4. Boy that didnt take long. How do you like that gulp minnow?
  5. Not supposed to fish on Thursdays in the park. Roaring river is wide open and I would think Hatchery staff would see you on the upper stretches. The rest is readily visible basically right off the highway. Park Rangers like to sit in the park and patrol F and 112 from the normal weekday traffic so I assume they would see people fishing. Guess it all depends on how gungho they are that day. You could however go below the park.
  6. I thought green sunfish would be close although I've never run across any green sunfish much bigger than 6 or 7". Maybe splitting the difference between a smallmouth and a green sunfish would get me close.
  7. Anyone ever put big goggle eye/rock bass on the scales to get weights for an approximate length?
  8. "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas" was recorded/released before 1947 and wasn't written by Bing Crosby.
  9. I'm fairly confident all new residential construction in Cali has to be all electric no natural gas. As if their grid can handle the load now.
  10. Make no qualms about it I don't think EV's are arm and legs above combustion from a green standpoint but ultimately at some point we are going to run out of oil(probably not in your life and maybe not in mine). We pour oil on the ground, chemicals, fertilizers, landfills all over the place(Bridgeton anyone?), terrible at recycling items we actually can, burn trash, throw all sorts of electronics and batteries away in the trash but dang all of a sudden EV disposal matters.
  11. I have zero knowledge of outboard manufacturing and how they are attempting to do their electric motors. If they are having problems with power pulses in the driveshaft then it sounds like they are using permanent magnet machines. Even the best motor geometry still produces torque pulses opposing rotation as the magnets pass the stator. Causes havoc in downstream components. The base motor designs will be fairly simple to troubleshoot likely 3 phase continuity check and if something is bad you change the whole package. Electronics packages should be fairly simple as they should be module based and you either have output or you don't and change it. The biggest concern I can/could see is the software basis. Much like farm equipment right to repair could come into play but probably wont. At the end of the day......you will be able to do quiet a bit with a basic multimeter just to tell what failed but you wont get much troubleshooting past that(not that you necessarily need too).
  12. I went early yesterday looking for stripers. I think if I had to do it over I would have gone today and skipped yesterday. All the spots I wanted to fish were right in the wind and I just couldn't see any top water action. There was a couple guide looking boats in the dam area. Right off the bat I graphed a lot of bait/fish so I set in a spot waiting for them to get active and although I seen a couple splash it never got going. The area around dam site was really choppy so I headed south just exploring. The long run from Starkey to pt. 6 was really rough but interestingly enough by the time I got down to Rocky it was nearly flat calm. I went a little past Rocky and then headed back. Think I might start fishing out of Ventris instead of Indian Creek.
  13. Have consistently been wading 2 mornings a week for the past 3 or 4 weeks. I was catching more and more browns every trip....about 3 weeks ago it shut off....I think I've caught 2 since....not because they are gone but their busy doing their thing. Have seen several nice fish in the shoals but in that area I just cant bring myself to do anything but watch. No big deal there has been plenty of people stumbling through and keeping them stirred up. I did get out Thursday and fished the restricted area looking for more cooperative fish that haven't been just stomped all through by the mob. Thursday it stayed much darker than it had been which worked out well I finished the day with 4 walleye. My biggest was a 19-20" fish that got a free ride north. I did also catch a brown with a very clear freeze brand mark AGFC puts on them first time I've caught one that I could confirm without a doubt what it was. Colored up brown from a couple weeks ago. New net works out well, plenty of depth. Short walleye in the restricted area Freeze brand brown Walleye on a leash
  14. I figure if I get 2 trips in one will be from Indian Creek to about pt. 6 if I can stand the cold. Second I may drive to PC and head west north and explore. Never been that far south so may just hop around and explore a bit.
  15. I'm hoping to slip up to the top side of the dam this weekend sometime. I'm starting to get burnt out of the trout below so figure I might spend some time looking for striper up top.
  16. I'm gonna second both of these guys. The time is right. All I would do is run 10-15 spots I've noted over the years if they are there.....they are there....if not then I'll move along fast. All up the river. TBH days spent cruising the lake watching will give a lot of these locations up.
  17. Surely they don't stock CnR just to keep more fish in the water. I always assumed it had to do with space in the hatchery and keeping it chugging along.
  18. I don't think at RR the Concessions are even open during CnR.

    Not Thinking

I wonder how much of the inflation will be true long term inflation vs short term supply/demand market dynamics. Doesn't really matter right now when you swipe your card I know. I've always heard precious metals were a hedge against inflation but most of them have remained flat to down YTD indicating maybe something different longer term?
  20. I fished for a bit both Saturday and Sunday passing through. Lots of good fish in that first hole I managed to catch one big one up there. Couple of the goldens throughout the river. Sure would like to catch one of them as well. Really just a lot of eager fish all throughout. I don't know the numbers but feel like for 2-3 hour trips I caught plenty.

    Nets??

Boat nets to me are fairly simple. Where do you store it then buy the biggest one to fit that seems to work for me until I get into striper or catfish. I ended up buying the EGO S1 Genesis for wading. 17"x 19" head and those are generous measurements. I bought it with a 24" screw in handle but leave it off for wading. Overall from handle to end of hoop is 26" so its not that different from my wooden cheapy. Floats.....only thing I don't like is the handle is larger and I have big hands to begin with. One thing that helps significantly is how deep the basket it. Here is a chunker I caught this weekend and had no problem scooping him off the walkway at Roaring River.
  22. Nice report.....I'm itching for it too get cold so I can start searching for walleye guess I need to go looking since your finding them often. Funny story for @snagged in outlet 3 about swiping stuff from the forum.......in my search for a new wading net I saw your net pictures so I searched out the net brand just to see what options they had. The same net you have is now on its way to my house. I will unscrew the long handle and use it as a wading net. Hopefully it works.
  23. sorry meant more like you have to have a certain post count before you can see information.
  24. I think the reality is that of the hundreds of people that post consistently only 10ish provide any sort of actual reports. The rest are just here for the banter or fishing related topics. You can give a lot of information in a report without ever giving a good location or bait used, heck delayed information can and does benefit. I will admit river guys have a more difficult time doing this due to the size of water. I like the idea of putting a post counter to view but honestly there is tons of information shared on Facebook to the point that nothing is really a secret anymore.
  25. Fished from Noon until about 5:30. Basically from 62 bridge up as far as I can go which is just below Clayborn creek. They have been running water so its very clear now. Tossed jigs and jerk baits the whole time. Below spider creek the rainbows really seemed to have slowed down especially on the jigs for me. No bigger fish. We were averaging 1 over slot fish a day but haven't caught one from the boat in 2-3 trips now. Between Spider creek and Clayborn Creek there are lots of stocker browns. I would guess we caught between 10-15 browns on jerkbaits. Nothing but stockers. We did see several good browns in the clear water and 1 or 2 big fish. Fished the daylight hour this morning wading in the restricted area with spinning rod. Fishing was good right at daylight. Probably caught 10 fish. No browns. Water is cold, air is cold, feet were numb so it was a short trip.
