  1. Standing naked after dark with ur 5 buddies in a two man boat???....kinda sounds like a George Michael song. I don't recall anyone saying "The fish aren't biting so we go gig now" ...hmmm The bottom line is some people have a much better skill set for gigging than others....dexterity and eyesight help. My Uncle will only hit the suckers and Redhorse in the head of the fish 98% of the time...it's amazing. People who are new to gigging....not so much. City Fishin you do realize gigging is a time honored tradition in Missouri?? Really I think you are being tounge and cheek because I think you spear fish in Ark.
  2. Well there is a reason why streams in Missouri just don't produce 19+ Smallies very often....see states like Indiana who regulate the very small amount of gigging allowed on a few watersheds. Streams like the Tippecanoe are full of 19 and 20's. Missouri is what it is and it isn't going to ban gigging so don't worry.....traditions are thick in this here state. You just have to be used to smaller fish here and there are many reasons why. People who covet bigger fish like me know you have to go to other states and that's what we do. That is where my money will go when I want a better fishing opportunity. Do Missouri streams have the potential to grow big Smallies in greater numbers than what exist now??? I say yes only because I have fished other watersheds in other states that are not as fertile or as deep as most Ozark streams and they flat out produce big fish....obviously not the opinion of a MDC employee who has Alterior motives. Sorry but some of things that have been said to me and others about river Smallies from the agency are so absurd it hurts the brain. Why isn't gigging allowed in the Red Ribbon areas of Missouri streams?? Really who cares??
  3. Hahahaha give me a break !!! Fishing with you I learned to try everything and never question the obtuse. You know more nooks and crannies on that river that nobody else is even thinking about fishing and that has always impressed the hell out of me about you. I will say this though and I ain't giving you trouble but, I know that bank behind you and that's only because you showed me hahahaha....I feel very privileged actually....I need to show you how blank out your backgrounds in your pics☺
  4. Awesome dude!!!!....small intense window of opportunity taken advantage of by Hog Wally Great job working thru patterns to find the one that worked
  5. That's a very long skinny looking Smallie...looks like an Arkansas fish...nice long one
  6. Oh it happens....sometimes on accident and sometimes on purpose. Sounds like the bass are still in a late Fall pattern to me.
  7. you have a Merry Christmas as well Tim....I hope your recovery is going well and hope to see you sooner than later

  10. Great news!!!
  11. Haris 122 my wife is runs a practice right now at St.Alexius hospital and 98% is Bosnian. We both have much respect for the Bosnian population that has taken roots in the St.Louis area as they seem to be a hard working group.
  12. Cool report Bret☺ Kudos to you and Landen getting out. Your son is a true Fish Hawk and I love it!!! That is a LARGE Sauger he caught....he definitely seems to be on the Big fish and I love it. Your trip reports with your son are priceless IMO You and your family have a good holidays if I don't talk to ya bud and Happy Bday to your boy....his dad already gave him a pretty cool present😉
  13. Failoni's hahahaha hell yeah Gavin knows what I'm talking about
  14. Nick's Pub on Manchester.....no need to set your troll net deep, it was a joke. The Famous Bar in South City .... easy pickens, wear your hazmat suit though....if you know what I mean. The Good Ole days
  15. Duly noted.....kudos to you Mrs. BilletHead it seems like you Two are living the dream
  16. sorry but this is a biotch thread and I had to remove my posts from this garbage
  17. Sorry but when the crayfish put up more of a show than the fish I just don't have the desire to go thru what it takes to get there and catch them. When he is catching trout the size of bait on a spoon, I don't see the glory in it. I started out fishing this way in ditches from Festus to Park Hills....we would make our own Tenkara like setups and nail Creek Chubs and the occaional Bass.....back when I was about 6 or 7 and my dad drug me around to bridges. He would sit and drink Busch and read while I explored.
  18. Very nice Paul!!!! It looks like you had a good weekend with your wife???? You Two deserved some QUALITY time. Kudos my friend 😊
  19. Hahahaha I feel the same way about trout for the most part, other than trout big enough to chase a jerkbait
  20. Dang man I know that is tough. Hang in there and I will be praying for a good result on the biopsy. My wife has had some scares post Cancer and all I can do is be scared with her.....I feel helpless at times. Hang in there man
  21. In the short time I have know Hog Wally I have seen him catch plenty over 25 so I would agree with his 27 inch benchmark. He is THE master of the eyes on the Meramec as Al said. He has shown me some stuff I will take to my grave
  22. Hahaha....I was put in exile and pretty much only fish by myself now, which I personally don't like but it is what it is. I hate the stupid selfie pics....really need to quit those. I wish someone would go on some of these floats with me.
  23. Caught these in St.Louis County parks on the river....but, overall I haven't done that well this Fall. I have been floating my Yak from Rte.66 to the Valley Park ramp.

    What's Cooking?

HAHAHAHAHA.....I love food and I love this thread but, sometimes this thread reminds me of this http://southpark.cc.com/clips/m736f5/you-gonna-deglaze-that
  25. I wasn't even trying to go there but, it happens more than you think. I was told by someone with the MDC and a few other trout guys that gigging helps stop suckers and other rough fish from over populating the river and adversely affecting the trout specifically. Which I found to be entertaining
