  1. I got plenty of ice in the freezer. I don't need any more.
  2. I think my experiment with FC is over. 1) I saw no improvement in the number of fish I caught. 2) I have damaged fingers and tying knots is not fun. 3) And it is annoying dragging the knot though the ferrules.
  3. I am trying to picture how one would co-exist with thirty rods in a boat. I can't imagine it. I would think you would have to have another boat tied up to yours with a rod rack that will hold thirty rods.
  4. I will watch it again if Martha Quinn comes back -- man was she hot. Oh wait....I don't have cable anymore.
  5. Be on the lookout for someone who "suddenly" has an elk antler mount on the wall.
  6. Alright, Candy is buying me a crossbow for Christmas (she doesn't know it yet). And she is getting more venison for Christmas (she doesn't know that either). Do any of you who currently hunt with a doctor's exemption have any advice on a purchase?
  7. I am concerned if I see a doctor he would want to cut on me. I would have to be able to clone myself first.
  8. Mic, I was working in Branson the last two weeks. I backed into an angled parking spot so I could load boxes in my company vehicle and was given a parking ticket for backing into the parking space. I never intend on going back.
  9. JD, It seems the anxiety leading up to things like this is the worst part about it. Just concentrate on having this over and getting your health back.
  10. I do believe I caught more fish in the 10-foot v-bottom I owned than either of my two bass boats.
  11. When will we know if crossbows will be legal next year. My 56-year old shoulder is a bit painful and I would rather not risk getting it in shape to pull back my bow, anymore. But I did look at crossbows on Cabelas site and one could easily spend a thousand dollars on a crossbow.
  12. Yes I do process my deer -- I am fearful butcher shops are overwhelmed with deer during deer season and cannot take proper care of it. Candy cooked everything in the front part in the slow cooker and it was excellent. I pounded the steaks and cooked them quickly with a bit of Penzeys Ozark Seasoning. They were a bit tough but cutting across the grain helped. Did I mention how heavy that deer was?
  13. I got my mount and forgot to post it. I need to tell you all how heavy this deer was.
  14. I am sure that a 17" bass is impressive to most of us. It certainly is to me. Congratulations.
  15. That reminds me of a deer season where a flock came up from behind me as I was on the ground and took to roost all around me. Billethead, I have hunted turkeys during the spring for more that thirty years but how does one call in turkeys in the fall? And I advise to stay away from the lottery tickets, also. It is voluntary taxation.
  16. + (whatever it is up to, now) Wool does not feel wet when it is wet. Cotton does. I use fingerless wool gloves.
  17. I am setting my wife's booth at Ferguson Farmers Market later this month. After reading this on the bass in lakes stocked with trout.....I think I am headed up to January-Wabash, that morning.
  18. No but I did talk to crappie fishermen and it was tough for them. I did not see another boat bring up any fish.
  19. I got the boat out of storage for the first time this year and fished Mark Twain Lake last weekend. The numbers were good but we didn't catch anything with much size. I did catch my first fish with the Ned Rig but he got off before I got I got my fingers on him. MTL is probably not the lake for the Ned Rig -- the lake depth will go to 40 feet 10 feet from the bank. There can only be a foot or so where there is a shelf that you can work it properly and keep it at the right depth. This is the biggest fish we caught, on a crawdad-colored wart: It seems we were only successful on main lake points; once we got back in the coves the bite stopped. My buddy Bob with fish typical of what was biting: And for a few minutes stripers were hitting a white Road Runner right at the bank. But that stopped and only bluegill hit the Roadrunner.
  20. I think a lot about the stories you hear of people who have been around water all of their life suddenly drowning and there is no way to determine exactly what happened. I know if I ever caught a 10-lb bass I am going to have a heart attack and fall in the water and no one will know what happened.
  21. If my next truck has a step bumper I am going to remove it. I have left too many things on it.
  22. Marcus, Thanks for the report. I have the old Chrysler out of storage and heading up there Friday morning. I will rent a slip at Black Jack.
  23. Insurance companies benefit more from DWI's than the state. I wonder how many members of the General Assembly are insurance agents.
  24. There are always boats, there. I fished in in my cedar-stripper on Monday but had no luck. It is not to say there aren't fish there -- I have been in bad slump for a couple of years, now. I threw the NED rig, a storm wart and a tandem spinner bait.
