  1. Feather Craft in St Louis sells there own furled leaders. I am sure many of the local fly shops as well. Most come with a loop. I loop to loop mine to the fly line, then loop to loop tippet to the end of the furled leader. Easy way to change tippet when it begins to shorten. You'll like furled leaders, either thread or mono ones, as they lay out perfectly supple. Another source for them is a friend of mine Robin Rhyne. He furls leaders for sale here http://www.robinscustomleadersandflies.com/order.htm Dano
  2. jd..I will agree there is the Federal statute that apparently allowed this. My concern is that the ranger should have used a community policing approach to the problem. There were less restrictive means he could have taken. There is no indication that the dog was vicious or a danger to humans. The dog was running deer...dogs do that. If it was illegal cite the owner and let the Court settle it. Lots of other variables come into play. Was he close to the dog when it was shot, if so, couldn't he have tried to capture it waited for the owner and written his ticket? Was the dog shot at a distance and was there consideration for anything in the line of fire? I am sure there will be lots of speculation and I rather doubt a full investigative report issued to the public. One thing I will say people down this way won't stand for this kind of event and it will be a bone of contention for locals who are upset with Government control of the Buffalo anyway. Oh, last year a ranger shot a little girls pet goat that wandered on park property. Dano
  3. This story saddens me, sickens me and revolts me. The worst case scenario for what should have been a community policing common sense approach. The Ranger lacks it. I have been in the law enforcement community for over 25 years and I can tell you that nothing in my career has ever made me as angry as I feel right now. http://www.harrisondailytimes.com/articles/2010/02/27/news/doc4b888edede6d7080516885.txt

  13. Jeremy, et al...here is one I got from Gary Murphy from Cotter. He called it the copperhead. Gary has passed on now but this fly has been very productive for me on the tail waters especially. It is tied with Flymaster choc brown thread, copper wire rib, and a copper bead.
