  1. I picked 54 more tomatoes Sunday - neighbors are happy. Got to be that hair!
  2. When you compare WOW prices with NFL or MLB I believe they are in line. Reports say to see everything it takes four hours. Ten dollars/ hour isn't too bad. Johnny also paid the city of Springfield back the money it had spent on the failed first attempt to build it as per News Leader.
  3. My little garden (5x20) has only 2 regular & 2 cherry tomato plants. They have been sorta slow until now. This is yesterday's crop. An old farmer that is older than I am said to put hair in the hole when planting. He said the protein is good for them. I asked the wife to get a bag or two when she got her hair cut. Evidently it was not a first request - they said every spring all the rural folks come in for hair fertilizer. I could see no change until lately if that really made any difference. This the first time I have not had the blight or cut worms. Been watering every day because it is a raised bed.
  4. What is the best (easy) way to skin a squirrel? I have tried the slit across the middle of the back - then pull it off like pants & a tee shirt. The other method is cut under the tail - stand on the tail - pull the hind legs until the skin is off to the head - then skin the back legs. Neither method seems very easy & almost always involves picking hair. I have 40 + walnut trees on my place & a so-so garden = lots of tree rats. I hate to kill them if I don't eat them.
  5. The latest weather guesser just showed models that show it going back into the Gulf to reload - then head back north thru Arkansas. We may get a shot of it yet.
  6. I think my tomatoes went on vacation with the BillitHeads. I haven't picked but one in the last ten days. Perhaps they were getting ready for the eclipse. Time now to plant Fall stuff.
  7. Johnsfolly - Don't quit your day job.
  8. BH Thank you all for taking all of us along on the trip. Beautiful country. Another good part of the trip is I got to sleep in my own bed every nite.

11 hours ago, ness said: I see that S Car 🚗 Go AKA snails or slugs are my best guess.
  10. Welcome & enjoy.
  11. Wives tail or not? You will have to check with Wrench on that one or wait until it thunders.
  12. I had my wedding ring hang up on the front handle of a 16 ft. jon boat while launching at Cape Fair. The ring broke and pulled the length of my finger cutting to the bone until it fell into the water. It looked like a horse shoe (the ring not my finger). That resulted in an unscheduled side trip. Never had a ring on again. I let the women take their chances.
  13. Prayers on the way. Just hate this part of life.
  14. I haven't seen any groups this year yet. Perhaps it is too early.
  15. Better go to Lake Springfield!
  16. I think h. birds taste something between a bald eagle and an spotted owl. Just a lot more tender.
  17. The Hanging Judge Phil said guilty as charged. After two years of intense investigation the lack of humming birds around my home has been solved. The investigation revealed the Fishing Wrench has been running a humming bird safari in northern Christian County. This can be back up by post about 12 ga. & # 6 shot earlier this year. The trial had to a bench trial because no OA members would take time away from fishing or were afraid FW would not give free advise or work on their boats. He (FW) had scheduled two character witnesses to testify but neither showed. BilletHead was on his way to the trial but saw a furry critter cross the road and run through a patch of fungus. So much for going to the trial for him. The other character witness was that Follys guy. He to was on the way to court when he cross a small creek and thought he spied a rare Small Eyed Guppy in a riffle down the creek. He was last seen hauling butt with his minner bucket list and a seine. The punishment for this crime is three fold. The most severe is fixing that ugly deck as seen on this forum. Second most is teaching typing and spell checking around LOZ (I may attend). Third is that FW can only work on four stroker outboards for the rest of his life. The photo is one of his safari thugs in the act looking at the unused feeder. Oh the doldrums of late July. Regards
  18. Can anyone tell me what kind of tomato these are, it didn't have an id. tag when I bought it. They are very sweet - almost want to eat them for desert. So far it has been very prolific, more than the regular cherry tomatoes.
  19. No - not in Nixa.

    What's Cooking?

BillitHead - Where's the beef and or pork. Have you gone vegan on us?
  21. What would we do without plastic grocery bags?
  22. Did the bears eat him?
  23. Rockaway Beach in the late 60's was very rowdy until Taney County built a barbed wire stockade. Look at it now.
  24. No watering today for me - got a nice rain last night in Nixa. Now the lawn is too wet to mow (lucky me). Lettuce is about finished & spinach bolted to seed. Time for summer garden.
  25. I agree there are better options but this is our only option that will do for us, Same here on options. We have used ours numerous times over the years. I have a heavy extension cord that I plug in on the way. Two battery/AC radios, water bottles, cans of foods of choice, extra light bulbs, flashlights with extra batteries & a five gallon bucket/lid for you know what.
