  1. I prefer it that way.๐Ÿ˜†
  2. I don't know I grew up fishing it and never heard the term lower or upper lake back then.
  3. No argument there, she put it in the boat.๐Ÿ˜€
  4. Well obviously there is no set dividing line. To me on the Pomme arm, lower lake would be the dam to wheatland park, mid lake wheatland to Lightfoot or so, and upper would be above lightfoot, and way up would be above bolivar landing, but ya better know where you are going and exercise caution up there. Lindeed side lower - dam to Hermitage swim beach, med - hermitage swim beach to haverstick or so, upper above that. I don't remember the mile marker numbers.
  5. I think everyone is in favor of courtesy and respect.. But no way to legislate it. As I have mentioned before I have seen and met with some of the friendliest guys fishing tournaments and a few butt heads. Also met a few butt heads who simply owned a fast boat and never thought twice abut zooming into a small cove or crowding out someone already fishing. Same things as boat ramps, lines in the grocery store, etc.etc. there are plenty of jerks who will always stick in our minds, and, I believe way more just plain old good folks who we just don't notice, because they don't cause a problem for us.
  6. Nice, I do love them small creeks to wade and fish. I took a few of those marathon wades before, possibly the tirednest I ever was after fishing.
  7. JD, I am praying for your FULL recovery, I fully understand that some of the littlest thing we take completely for granted can haunt us. The taste of a fresh crappie fillet, the smell of fresh coffee brewing, being able to eat a sammich, the weight of a grandchild in your lap without the fleeting thought is simply being around them a health risk. Sir you are a tower of strength, physically and mentally and as you know the mental strength is very important to winning. I had a quote I kept with me through my ordeal, it was attribute to John Wayne but who knows. "Don't go out looking for a fight, but if a fight finds you make darn sure you win". Not quite sure why such a cheesy quote stuck wih me, but it did.
  8. Oh man I would prefer to stay out of this will attempt to clarify a few things. First lights at boat ramps. Most of those light are probably solar powered, as such the laws of physics come into play with how much light can be produced with a given set up. Throw in the fact that over a certain $ cost it becomes a logistical nightmare to purchase relatively low cost items without going through many hoops and greatly increasing the cost and time required to procure. The system in place for purchasing is changing but it is slow. Some of the solar set ups are designed to come on say at dark and go off at daylight, that is fairly rare, since if the light is very bright it takes more power and quickly drains the batteries, which will kill them in a short time. Others put out less light and will last longer, better technology allows for a step down to lower power use unless movement is detected, then it will go to full power again. New technology as always is more expensive, see above comments on purchasing stuff. Firearms. It is a rule within Title 36 CFR that prohibits the carry of firearms on COE properties outside Law Enforcement, hunting, or at designated shooting ranges. It is not a state law. The best I can say is be patient, the wheels are turning to update Title 36 CFR. However as with all things Government the wheels turn slowly, it is expected that the change will essentially mirror the state laws in effect for each lake, however won't know until it is published for comment in the federal register.
  9. That rule has zero to do with state law.
  10. I was just thinking it should getting to cats on the rocks time.
  11. LOL, no.
  12. If one made it out of Fellows a good rain could provide enough water to make it there. Would be a rare thing at best I would think. I remember the Tiger Muskie and Northern too.
  13. Anyplace that has redbuds near a major building will have several sprouting up among the creek gravel mulch stuff. Put them in a big pot for a year or two and then plan them wherever you want. I had to brush hog a bunch of them things about that size or a little bigger. Amazes me how they can become and invasion force in the right circumstances. I too am always looking for brownie points in order to get a smiling thumbs up to go fishing.
  14. We used to eat a lot of carp. Wish I had a nice medium sized one to bake right now.
  15. Fish fry time for sure!
  16. Actually no. A few years ago after getting caught by an unexpected flood Ameren decided to release heavy prior to a predicted big rain, which didn't come. Ameren raised holy heck with the COE to release water to bring it back up and got turned down flat. Pomme is 0.38 above the target level for this time of year (841.0) Stockton if I remember is 2 or 3 feet high. But that will be turned into kilowatts befor Truman gets it and turn it into kilowatts before LOZ gets it and turns it into kilowatts.
  17. Welcome to God's country Sir.
  18. Hang in there JD. I like hearing about the bees.
  19. Not only do.distances get further, things get heavier. Been working on a friend's house in the evenings, used to be able to do it all day long, now a couple few hours in the evening is more than enough to wear me out, stamina never came completely back after my medical drama. Fishing isn't too bad, except for a heel spur. standing in the boat in soft bottom shoes really makes it fire up. But if fishing is good, just pop a couple tylenol and wear better shoes during the day. Foot doctor can wait until after fishing season.
  20. I bet that big ole white was fun on a whippet stick.
  21. Very nice ones!
  22. There a lot of things that MDC does that are not targeted toward benefitting fishermen, there are a lot of rhings, hunting, biological studies, small game and upland birds, watchable wildlife, education, endangered species, caves, etc. Agreed there are some $ wasted.
  23. I know that at leaSt one marina here has submitted reports and I also know they don't fish. They report what they hear from fishermen. OA is probably the best reporting system.I have seen.
  24. As I understand it the reports are usually provided by a marina or something.
  25. Got it, I thought maybe they were fixing to have a fish fry!๐Ÿ˜ฒ
