    What's Cooking?

BH, now that sounds tasty. Snagged I am with ya, I do lie a steak cooked fast and hot on the grill or in a skillet.
  3. Like Wrench I hope they find him sitting on a log and mad that it took so long to pick him up, but the longer it goes the less likely it is. Maybe he walked to one of the super remote homes in that country and they just haven't been able to get word out yet. One of the best skills to have is to know when to NOT do something and I am no better than anyone else in that matter.
  4. Why change something that is working well. Slugs are deadly used within their and the shooters range. 6# line is a good all around line. I use a lot of it. Some heavier on casting gear etc. I think you are right in the zone Oneshot.

Well that's just silly. Aren't we all one big carp loving community.

    What's Cooking?

I always thought the mistake was making a duck stew, instead or armadillo or badger maybe.

    What's Cooking?

I muse have done something wrong, I made a duck stew ONE time, I can eat most things but I couldn't eat that. Even the yard dog walked away from it.
  8. Notropis, it's always cool to see results from something you know is going to be a long term process. Awesome.
  9. I will certainly add it to my list, God knows who it is. I look forward the praise report.

    What's Cooking?

I am quite sure I would have been diagnosed as ADHD in school. They tried to tell me my son was ADHD or ADD, I laughed and explained that no he was just smart and bored to death in class. They put him in a upper level class and he loved it. Heck some days I would still.fit into the ADHD mold, I can be doing a job and get distracted by a loose bolt, and spend the next hour or two re-threading it and putting it back. Then wonder why I don't get much done, oh look a squirrel!!

    What's Cooking?

I have noticed that often philosophy is preceeded by bourbon.
  12. Graphic? Man making my supper is more graphic than that.
  13. I have grilled beaver tail until the skin blistered up, pealed it off, seasoned it and eaten it. It was sticky, fatty and not that good. As for a your beaver cut up like a big squirrel, browned in a skillet and steamed for a while with some veggies added, heck yeah I would eat it.

    Now you're talking RPS.
  15. I was gonna order some HD baits but didn't get it done. So the closest I came to fishing gear is that my grandson who will be 4 in march got excited about getting a fishing rod for his birthday so he can "go fishing with Papa". Should be a good year to take a kid fishing, around here in my favorite places the crappie are very numerous as a result of the high lake levels in 2015. Now I gotta decode if I want to teach him to cast with a zebco 33 spin cast or just go straight to a light action spinning rig.
  16. There are lots of folks who are very good at the basics but prefer a certain type of fishing, whether it be shallow, deep, toowater, cranks, jigs etc. I have my favorite ways of fishing and will always try it first, but of it doesn't work I am willing to try just about anything, something nothing I try works. Such is life.

    What's Cooking?

I love a good hash, cooked until it has a nice crust on it.
  18. If you are both using the same stringer, bucket, or live well and one of you is clipping a fin or tail then you are legal. The fish are identifiable. I have had as high as 3 people using sam livewell, one was putting fish on a stringer in the livewell, one was clipping off a pectoral fin and one swimming around like normal. A pair of Leatherman pliers will quickly rip.off a pectoral fin but something like game shears make it easier.

    What's Cooking?

Sure, remember a recipe is mere a suggested guideline. Especially with my bbq sauce. Add more spice, some hot sauce, more sugar etc. Make it how you like it. BTW the brisket rub is good on a lot of stuff too.

    What's Cooking?

I spent part of the day making a triple batch of home made bbq sauce. My kids provide a variery of bottles to put it in. But had to use a couple ketchup bottles also. It is a pretty good batch, always similar but never quite the same. Used Dr. Pepper instead of Coca Cola, and added some extra heat/spice to it.

    What's Cooking?

Congrats on the new grandchild. And some good looking burgers too.
  23. Gigging a beaver may sound funny but it isn't something you want to.do. the first time I went gigging one swam by and I was leaning into the stab when they started yelling at me. Apparently it's a very bad idea and tends to tick off the beaver.
  24. I say release the Koi into the rivers. Can you imagine how much fun it would be to stick a gig in a 20 plus pound carp wannabe. Just a couple steps below gigging a beaver.

    What's Cooking?

I am quite sure that a sous vide or what ever it is works quite well, also feel certain that insta pots do work quite well. My problem is that my house is small and I don't have room for the stuff I do use, like cast iron skillets and a toaster.
