  1. The worst line I ever owned was some black braid, that crap was almost invisable. I stick with high visibility braid of whatever brand you like. After a few years of tying directly to the jig/lure I have for the last year or so been trying to use a mono leader simply because it takes rock abuse better than braid does. Honestly I think my ineptness in rigging the leader has cost me more fish and tackle than I ever lost due to weak spots in the braid. I have no problems catchin crappie, walleye, goggle eye or smallies with bright colored braid.
  2. What has our world come too? I was waiting to see who was gonna say it first, but never expected to be Al, and he even had a photo. Hope he threw that one back!
  3. Personally I like it when they set up roadblocks at places like Niangua take outs. Those drunken idiots would otherwise be on the road with my wife, or son, or daughter and grandson. I certainly won't she'd any tears for them. Also glad the MSHP folks are on the river and visible, don't care of they are on jet skis or giant trained otters. I have set through a few road blocks but other than a little lost time I have yet to have an issue.
  4. Rockaway Beach is nothing like the old days, and the "issues" at stockton are not even in the same league. Loud music vs. Drugs, power drinking, motorcycles etc etc. When we as fisherman are able to complain about one area making too much noise while we are fishing in an otherwise quiet and beautiful area, well life must be pretty good over all.
  5. If you want to get something changed, you will need to go to the legislature. The COE has little to no ability to enforce such a rule, the MSHP basically has a policy of they enforce but don't make rules.
  6. I am so confused now, in different screen shots I see one with 3 and one with 7. Then the whole kiss face and I am just gonna go have a drink instead of trying to understand.
  7. It's been a while but I had stuff knocked around in my then 16 ft v hull Lowe on Taneycomo by boats passing and throwing wakes 25 years ago. There is not a displacement hull made that I have ever seen that has anywhere near the maneuverability of a jet boat up on top and operated by a competent driver. Truthfully since there is not a legal way to prevent the operation the market will decide if the business is successful or not. The MSHP can limit it's area to operate in and require them to stay within a stretch of river for safety reasons.
  8. If heaven doesn't look lot like that I am gonna be upset.
  9. Dozens of 3 to 4 pound rats. Should I take up bass fishing I hope to be as unlucky.

Dang, clams, linguini, cilantro, bechemel sauce, I am dying. I had a bagel for lunch. I swear I can smell that plate right now.

    What's Cooking?

Now that is my kind of dinner.
  12. Hammertime, I don't know you either but I understand the struggle. Prayers are being sent for you and your family.
  13. Could just be coincidence, could be that the shallow fish have recovered from spawning and are actively feeding and thus doing well. Could be the deeper ones are hanging in the cooler water recovering or maybe they just liked it there after having been caught, dropped, carried around and released. Or could mean nothing. I definitely think you should continue the "research", spending as much time as possible out there catching more fish to compare. If it get to be too much, holler and I will come net them for you.

My favorite coffee is ma de in a percolator pot, with the sound of a creek nearby, Folger or Maxwell Huse will do fine there. Bu since that only gets to happen very rarely anymore I do like a good kona or kona blend. Absolutely hate Starbucks, would rather have gas station coffee, some of which ain't bad.

    What's Cooking?

Well I am on Grampa duty in springfield and have no electricity. However somwtimes you get lucky. I had stopped on the way in and picked up stuff for what I can a summer salad. A garlic/rosemary rotisserie chicken, box of spring mix salad, few tomatoes, a cucumber then waded through some pretty sad fruit. Need up adding a couple mangoes, fuji apples, a few peaches that were almost ripe, and a box of big strawberries. And a loaf of chewy Italian bread. Deboned the chicken and everybody can add what they like, no electricity required.
  18. I use a backpack when I shore fish a lot. The bucket works well because if we keep some I have a bucket to tote them home. Usually though there is an old cooler in the bed of my truck.
  19. I have always wanted to keep a rubber snake in the boat and casually toss it into a jerks boat.

My maters are looking good but not that far along yet, even the volunteers around my compost pile are growing well, as long as I remember to water them occasionally. I may not be able to wait for a ripe one, may have to sacrifice a few green ones, am craving some fried green mater slices.
  21. Used to use the Long Johns below truman for walleye. I do like the paddle tails on them.
  22. Hmmmm, I have some of them type things and some 1/16 Oz big hook heads I may give it a try next time.
  23. I end up fishing a lot out of other people's boat so I have a tackle box just for that, somewhat downsized Plano bag with 4 or 5 of the 3600 sized trays. Shove it in a 5 gallon bucket and grab at most 3 rods. Still I would hate to pack it up and down a hill to/from a dock every time. Personally I have zero desire to ever own a dock on any lake, but I have a biased view probably.
  24. That would be bad news and set a precedent for other land owners around the state. I sure wish missouri would just go ahead and tackle the issue and decide it. Of course only if they decided it in favor of being able to float streams.
  25. I wish I had a video of the event. I honestly thought I had a catfish and was playing it tough, grabbing the spool et until I saw it. My fishing buddy u am sure was only hanging on to the edge of the boat with his toes as he stretched out to net it. Jig popped out while it was still in the net in the bottom.of the boat. He spun around and pounded me on the back with our traditional "who's your daddy now', shout, thought we were gonna hug for a moment. He did call the location I will give him that. I am going to try bottom bouncers there some day, though I don't know much about them, have used them twice, once on Stockton where they were a fantastic way to catch channel cats, and once on Pomme where they were small bass magnets. I will figure it out though.
