  1. I have eaten several drum. Always seemed like one or two out of the bunch would be rubbery and rkugh, while the rest would be just fine, taste was mostly dependent of what you seasoned it with.
  2. At this point I am about as likely to believe Fishinwrench as anyone. And if HD tackle makes a pillow I may just buy it.

    What's Cooking?

Wife off teaching CPR class, so my blackstone decided on breakfast for supper. I was in such a hurry to eat I dang near forgot to do the whole blood sugar check. Wouldn't have mattered what it was I was gonna eat it anyway. And since I am not supposed to consume Alcahol I had a fresh brewed iced tea on the rocks.
  4. Heck I am planning to mow mine off as there are several dead canes and let them come back on their own. Never been hit with a gooseberry but sure had some welts from green grapes, ahhh friends.
  5. Last summer a few month after my shoulder replacement, I sat down in one of the cheap folding camp chairs, it swallowed me and leaned me back. I refused help getting out, but it did take a while for me to make an exit and dang was I tired. Would have made great video.
  6. He'll yeah. I will think of Juneteenth as JD day as well.
  7. Mine is made from.an old washing machine tub, have had it for years, think a buddy has it now.
  8. One of the favorite prescriptions of modern doctors. Partly because everyone seems to want it. Instead of teaching people how to deal with stress in life everyone want a pill to make them feel better. I always though stress was like flavor in life, but WTF do I know as I have cancer and now am diabetic, Blood sugar the other day was 500 and A1C cane back at 11, go big or go home I say, yeah I am awaiting delivery of meds for that, hell I take a bunch already what's a few more. At least my oncologist is on top of what is happening, his wife is an endocrinologist so I will make sure they have nice cars to drive for the forseeabLE future. All I can think about right now is sitting neck deep in the Niangua with a six of cold beverages beside me and enjoy the day. Maybe soon.
  9. If you should opt for the Wildlife/Fisheries programs I will tell you that if you are not working for one of the Agencies by your Junior year at the latest you will become another mechanic with a Biology Degree. The hiring programs target college students not graduates. I cant tell you how many graduates or near graduates I have seen applying for GS 4 level jobs, thinking they can work their way up, but it doesn't work that way any more, at least not with the Feds. You have to qualify and then get one of the Intern Level jobs while you are in school and get in that way. And I don't mean to sound condescending but please learn how to write a good resume and application, if necessary brush up on interview skills. The number of terrible resumes I see is amazing.
  10. Has anyone ever considered that Fishinwrench may be Oneshots son?
  11. COE permanent jobs will be posted at usajobs.com

    What's Cooking?

Well I was way too hot any busy to take pics, but a new blackstone grill came home with me on Tuesday, my wife made a grocery run for it virgin voyage. When she told me all she had bought I said, we ain't feeding an army it's just the two of us. So she fixed that and in video more folks. Ended up feeling 6 people, had carrots, squash, mushrooms, shrimp, scallops, an arm roast that got broken down into smaller pices and a bunch of onions, along with a big pile of noodles she had to do in a wok as I had simply run out of space of the blackstone. I was super happy with the way it all turned out, I had given it 4 coats of crisco in the seasoning process, and gave myself a couple coats of Mikes Hard Lemonade during the cooking. So far I love the blackstone and it will likely be a cornerstone of cooking for us. Next time pics maybe!
  13. A few months ago I searched high and low for a particular Mojo rod. Finally found it at Midway of all places.
  14. I can't even begin to pretend to understand the depth of your loss. I am so sorry.
  15. Post a pic when done, curious to see what it looks like. From the things I have seen done with pallet Lumber it can look good or like crap, depending on how much work a person want to invest in it. Mine would look like crap I guarantee.
  16. Well that explains it then, he was merely testing their security.😆
  17. And nobody seems to pick them. I remember standing at the edge of a parking lot in Portland OR and picking and eating them. People looked at me like I was insane. Well they culd have been right but they was big beautiful blackberries, couldnt just walk on past.
  18. Very few places I have found that can cook giblets properly. Everyone wants to have no seasoning and over cook them. Pink and tender with plenty of seasoning for me please.
  19. I figured it must be a poke, but in this crowd you cant be too sure. And yet it would be a good time to pick a poke full of Polk greens.
  20. OK I am curios. What is a Pok?
  21. Old saying, beware the free dog. Goes double for a hunting breed. Nearly always gun shy at the least, but I doubt you are gonna be traipsing through many briar patches anyway.
  22. I was always amazed when they would dump in several bottles of club soda or some sort of bubbly water. I looked at the biologist with a major WTH look. He just said wait and watch, you would have thought the fish died they were so quiet. When we dropped them into fresh water it didn't take long for them to come back to life. Never had the opportunity to help with catfish so not sure if it works for them or not.
  23. It is th quickest and easiest way to determine if blue green algae is present in noticeable amounts. More than that and you have to send samples off to identify which cyanobacteria it is and how much toxic it is. As to how dangerous it is to pets well it depends. . . What cyanobacteria it is, how much there is oreaent, how much a dog ingests, how large the dog is, and how succeptible the dog is. People can take a look and say, hmmm, that don't look good and stay out, a dog will jump right into the middle of it. Sadly there is no treatment that is feasible for it, just have to let it burn out.
  24. I doubt that the majority of what you are seeing is Blue Green Algae. There is a ton of Algae around, but the BG stuff has been limited to a few locations at his point. If you think it is blue green algae report the location and it can be checked. If yiu want to do a simple test on your own you can do a simple jar test.
