Stanton is a good guy!

I know they ate out there but I hunted rabbits for several years behind a buddy's beagles then several more years behind my own beagles and never saw a warble on a rabbbit, or a squirrel for that matter, which I am.happy about I like eating them and would keep one like that. As for aliens living in us, I suppose like anything else some are living in slums (the ones in my chemical stew of a body) poor bastards, they would riot if they only knew how. Wait maybe that's what cancer is, the aliens in us rioting! Dang it I gotta go call my Dr. we is gonna be famous.

Well I went to the dark side the other day and bought an Instant Pot for my wife, yeah for my wife, and a rack h of st. Louis style ribs. I had my doubts but they sure came out good, pretty tender but still with a little chew, slathered some sauce on them and put them on the grill to set the sauce, very tasty. Now I am thinking about putting some squirrels in it to pressure cook, just need some squirrels I guess. Way back kin the old days we used to make likes in a big old stone jar on the back porch, I remember lots of garlic, dill and grape leaves, the jar would develop a s,ummy stuff on top and we would always start stealing them from the jar before they were completely ready, salty, vinegary, etc. We also to a turn at making some turnip kraut one year, shredded turnips etc. Wow talk about something that would roll your eyes back.in your head, but dad and I ate it, of course we like pickled pigs feet too so our tastes may not be somehing to trust, also remember pickling the green , cherry tomatoes, loved them but they may have had more "smack" than the turnip kraut.

New vehicle and boat!
MOPanfisher replied to moguy1973's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
I have seen them at the lake with jet skis and ski boats. Vehicles are usually very plain truck, nice ones but plain Jane looking. I believe they are Mennonite and exactly what their rules depend on the patriarch of that family clan. Some can drive and some cant, some get hauled to job sites in vans pulling a trailed of tools. Some can use your power tools but can't have their own, some are very good carpenters and such and some aren't. My daughters FIL has a side gig hauling them around, has a mini van, and a one ton truck to pull a trailer with. I asked him how busy he stayed, "more than I want to be" he answered, I made a comment about I might do that when I retire, he said to let him know and he could get me all the work doing it I wanted, suddenly didn't seem like near as good of a plan. He has taken several big rental van loads to family reunions in Ohio I think, said they pay for the rental van, and provide him a hotel room while waiting for them. He also said be sure you run with widows open because a van load of them can get pretty ripe. His wife occasionally took an older lady to KC to dr. Apointments. -
Best Place to Live in Hickory County
MOPanfisher replied to Sandhills Hunter's topic in Pomme De Terre Lake
Shush, the Lightfoot area is BAD, and about 10 minutes from my house. Unfortunately no crappie, walleye or white bass live on that side of the Lake, honest I wouldn't lie to ya. -
Wife at meeting at school so again left to my own designs. Had done a little shopping yesterday and saw a jar of avacado salsa, tasty and a little spicy, also stopped at Wendy's for a double daves and large chili, the double became my lunch at work today and the chili well you will see it in the pic. Nuked a couple medium tater, and heated up the chili. Split/smushed the taters into a bowl, added a little butter, then some guda cheese and diced Genoa salami that was in fridge, next was a layer of th avacado salsa, then the chili and a dollop of sour cream. Pretty darn good, a but tough on the white t shirt I was wearing but everything seems to be attracted to my shirts anymore.

I tried digging nightcrawlers a couple times for walleye thinking if nothing else I would catch a few channels, couldn't keep the little bass off of them.long enough to catch a channel. I used to know a few that drifted for them, most anymore will toss out some noodles and then bass/crappie fish for a while before running them.

Remember flathead like live moving bait, bluegill and gren sunfish seem to be the easiest to get and keep alive on a hook. Used to every year a fisherman or two would bring by a Polaroid (way back) of a big old flathead caught on a plastic worm, crankbaits or jig.

May be that I just run cheap chargers, but I have not had great luck with them bein able to properly charge deep cycle batteries, I have had two and 3 bank, depending on what boat I owned at the time and have tried keeping hem plugged in all the time and always seem to go dead quickly. If I go I've and put on a real charger like I use for tractor or truck and let it charge for a couple hours, it is good to go.

There are a bunch of big blues in Milford for sure, Truman is also rotten with them, don't ever remember hearing about any from the rock though.

Dang, good one, I would have like to have tried to brine and smoke him!

Depends, if you think more toward LOZ then you have Pomme, LOZ and Truman, if you want to be on a major highway for easier access to major hospital maybe toward buffalo (add Niangua River) or bolivar (add stockton, if a nicer home already built definitely Bolivar) if you are looking to buy a small acreage and stay away from people then about any direction. If you are wanting a private dock, well save your money and buy a nicer house. Where I live I am right in the middle stockton, Pomme, Truman and a little further to LOZ, not exactly a metropolis or area with much if any job opportunities, but where I was born and raised. -
That's a heck of a bag from Pomme!

You have inspired me enough that I am going to expand my container grow operation, assuming my wife doesn't cat me before I get it done. Double mineral tubs, with water in bottom and maybe half full of dirt and mulch. Gonna make at least a couple of them canteloupes, as that is what I am really gonna miss.

Finally getring enough mobility back to play a little more and with jist wife and we can cook more to our liking. Wife found a nice skirt steak she had saved, so season it up with some house seasoning and a good coating of chili lime seasoning, while cast iron skillet was heating on the grill she sliced some peaches into quarters and seasoned with vanilla sugar, and made a wilted letruce salad, I did contribute also with a quick garlic flat bread. Sometimes things just come together, happy bellies right now. Sorry for blurry pic but too late now to take another!

I have eaten fish that was so heavily flavored it could have been carp. Delicate or mild flavored fish like crappie need delicate hand with seasoning. I have eaten crappie raw, small amount, might have been drinking beer, might have been a dare involved whatever, I sliced off a small thin slice from a fillet shook on a little slap ya mama and ate it, really wasn't bad, wasn't great, certainly didn't become my go to style for them but not as bad as I expected. All in all I will take grilled or quick fried, personally I find many people over cook them in a fryer.

Well I had a good nap at the infusion center today, and the "woke" me to tell me i was done so maybe so.

And that mentality is partly the fault of people like me who tend to defend LE across the board and have enabled that attitude, but it has to change or Change will be shoved down their throats in a manner they will not like. It is simply a fact that it cannot continue lie it is without change, preferable from wirhin, but if not then from the outside. If they are smart the LE unions etc will begin to implement some sort of community review board that makes reccomendations and or does minor investigations and either refers it to he Internal Affairs or whatever dept is in place to handle it. Many departments have a community review board but I have no idea exactly what they actually do or if they have any refrral capability.

Most of cries about "defunding" is not about truly de-funding any police, although there are those who absolutely would defund and or close down police forces. If a city were to defund and close their police force, essentially the law enforcement duties would have to be covered by the County Sheriff's dept., they are gonna be looking for additional funding and adding officers to their force to make up the need for staff to cover. Guess where the $ would have to come from, the, city being protected, so it would simply mean a moving of the funding from city control to county control and most likely if it is a city of any size it will not get as good of coverage as was being provided by a city police force. Same money spent (or maybe more) and less service provided, the old "do less with more" mentality. There should be a LOT more attention paid to pruning out those individuals who simply shouldn't be cops, but like any group when slammed by everyone they are going to band together to protect themselves, good and bad, right or wrong.

Every day on this earth is a present, there are no guarantees on tomorrow or anything beyond right now. Age is relative have friends and relatives that have passed at a younger age than I am right now. I was pretry sure my mom was gonna outlive me, but she passed jit a couple weeks ago. Every moment is precious.

Trouble Finding Carp
MOPanfisher replied to worstfishermanalive's topic in Carp, the Other White Meat
Any f the big 3 COE lakes have plenty of carp. Find a spot with easy access and give it a try. We used to bait an area with shelled corn and the go back with canned corn, love catching them, even been known to eat a few. Grassy/dirt banks seem to be better than gravel. -
I remember when of someone asked you to "take care of" a critter it was bad news for the critter. Just tell them you gave it plenty of broth and vegetables.

Last night was a good one, have grandson for the weekend, first time since March, also Zuri wanted some lap and a nice warm heating pad on my shoulder. At least the dog looks like she is fully awake. Plus later today I have someone who will take the stray mama cat and 3 of her 4 kittens, wife decided she wanted to keep one. FYI a second litter from a different stray cat, 6 of them should anyone need a boat cat. Guaranteed to live or will replace it with 2 more! Hactually since my daughter works at a vets clinic they have been wormed and had some eye drops for their goopy eyes, about 6 to 7 weeks old and eating canned and dry food, their mama had disappeared so they are available right NOW!

until such time as citizens or city council etc. Decide there is too many crimes of whichever kind is in vogue at the time and decide to have the LE do an all out effort to stop it. Policing is best done on a community level where individual citizens provide information when necesaare to solve crimes, (not crap like Bob was smoking too close to his kids), but when an entire community or citizenry won't assist what do you do. Nobody want to need LE or EMS or Fire Dept, but we do, that isn't gonna change.
