  1. Negative on both, I would have used an electric knife, I save the big butcher knives and hatchet for the carp.
  2. Nah, won't hit ignore, just gonna start eating carp again.
  3. Well I hope you have a good leech/possum recipe. What does a trophy possum look like? I had a young one under the gun last night but didn't have any sweet taters so I let him live.
  4. No clue what the first pic is supposed to be but the second one with what looks like a carp and a bird looks VERY fake to me. No disturbance in the water, no splash, no water droplets etc.
  5. I wouldn't mind having some seeds to plant along a little creek on my place, the squirrels etc. would live them. There is a spot at the lake that has dozens of them, but they never have fruit to harvest seeds from.
  6. I guess I will be the odd man out in that I don't particularely like the flavor of pawpaws. Ripe ones are slimy and sickeningly sweet. They are not bad when made into pawpaw bread but heck you can make bread out of anything.

    What's Cooking?

I have that problem sometimes too. Even thugh I often say I don't care either way aboit them either way, once I start cooking them in a little butter and cajun seasoning I keep eating them. My wife will usually keep an eye on me to make sure I don't eat all HER mushrooms. Wishing for another warm rain to bring some more boletes up in my yard.

Tasty looking Ness. I had to go with my wife to spfld, apparently she had no more need for her galbladder so I got a chance to go by a sort of real grocery store. Was in a hurry as she was in the car with AC running. So i grabbed some stir fry steak, a bag of shrimp, yellow and green squash, broccoli and an eggplant. The eggplant was not a good one but the rest was pretty good. Have never been able to get the nice dry char on the veggies, always ends up soupy and wet, maybe I am not running it hot enough?

    What's Cooking?

Dang, wish I had thought to take a pic of last night epicurean delight, something almost nobody makes at home, usually only available at things like high school ball games. That's right a "fritoe pie". Added some cheese, jalapeños and onions, had to go back for a second bowl. Was watching a local softball game. Often I appreciate the simple things, Joe would have been proud, I think, maybe, oh heck I don't know if he would or not.
  10. My biggest gripe with deer season is it really cuts down on time I can pack a .22 around the woods. Of course the nice fall weather tends to keep me fishing any more. Give me a cool day with a little rain or a storm system coming in, my scoped Ruger 77/22 and I am happy.
  11. Thanks. I have zero apples on my trees this year. They got hammered despite the profligate use of poisons.
  12. Who?
  13. I love the too low/small to float creeks, tennis shoes, shorts and an old safari vest for the pockets. One rod and some excess energy to work off. The further you go the better the fishing gets sometimes. And sometimes it's a long dark walk back to the truck!
  14. Sir, if you can breed/raise/train them to pick and eat the Japanese beetles off of my apple trees, I will invest and we will be billionaires.
  15. I like most fish, heck I even like fish sticks on occasion. I just can't think that bass or at least the sunfish variery we call bass could be raised successfully for profit. I remember somewhere was raising tilapia and striped bass for sale. I do like the taste of tilapia and catfish, but then I have never been considered a conniseur of anything.
  16. Hmm, with the number of fish that are more easily raised, survive better, have a better grith rate, and easily sold anywhere in the US, I am surprised at anyone wanting to bass for food source. But if you can make a profit at it without causing an ecological catastrophe I am all for it.
  17. Add a steel leader.
  18. Awesome!
  19. OUCH! At least you caught some fish.
  20. Hope you get a good photo of it.
  21. I have been cleaning out garages and hauling items to a rummage/garage sale. We took a 16' trailer load tonight. And will pick up a couple more loads saturday. One of them a quen sized sleeper sofa, recruited my son to help with that one, he is pretty easy to hire, food or money, always in need of both. As for sunglasses I just purchased a new pair from Stihl, wore them for their impact resistance on opening day of dove season. Wish they were polarized. Bigger lenses than my Oakleys, and very comfy.
  22. Hmm, well at least there are some local ones.
  23. So nothing close, Indianapolis and Texas were the ones I noted. I wish they would make fish sticks out of the silver and big heads, gotta be good for something.
  24. Wetting a squirrel will help with the hair, but the hair isn't a big deal, it soaks off easily. I use the cut the skin at the base of the tail method because that is how I learned.
  25. Having grown up fishing for carp on rod and reel, trotline for carp with cotton seed cake, pressure cooking and canning them.I don't have any problem with anyone who wants to fish for, bow fish for, catch, eat etc. carp. I am curious as to where these "socials" are held that none of us have seen the these crowd of people are congregating to catch carp. Personally I would rather sit on my butt and catch carp than I would catch channel cat, but I may well not be normal. I am certainly not going to invest in many dollars worth of carp special gear, but should the desire and opportunity to catch a carp or 10 close to home arrive at the same time I might partake with no second thoughts. What you do or promote makes me no difference I will cogitate upon some of it, and laugh and move on at other things.
