  1. The article doesn't mention any lowering of the lake, or holding it lower, but that certain doesn't mean they wont. It did say that it would have no effect on generation capability?
  2. I would think that flex steel would dry to hard and not be flexible enough to withstand he stress with out cracking. Also in my mind I thought something like drilling a small hole at the end of the cracks to keep it from growing. That is a heck of a crack and could go from annoying to devastating with one good hit on a rock. Probably the layers and resin might be best. If nothing else hit up an outfitter to see what they do for repairs, goodness knows their canoes get some abuse. Interested to see what you come up with and how it works though.

    What's Cooking?

We did french onion soup in crock pot over night once, I swore the onions had simply dissoved, ended up adding a few slivered up to have the texture. I do like the sourdough addition, put a chunk right on top of the soup. I always thought it wasn't much of a filling meal, but don't ever remember being still hungry after eating a couple bowls, just warm and "oniony".
  4. Wow, I would keep that Shad Rap in a framed box with a pic of the big feller. Just too cool.
  5. I spent my young life riding around Stockton in a 14 ft Richline V bottom. HOWEVER Dad was very particular about watching the weather and being able to get out before it got too bad, a few times I thought we were having fun riding up and down the whitecaps until I looked back at dad, the old WWII Vet who didn't get shook easily and he was white as a ghost, running the 18HP Evinrude with one hand and bailing with the other, if the motor had ever quit it would not have been good. In a 17ft Deep V you should be fine, but always be aware of what is coming, and where you have to go to get across, if in doubt get out. Better to sit at the motel/camp and wish you were still fishing that to have your family wishing you had made it home.
  6. I hear ya, we have an older border collie, than when she and my kids were younger we had to ban from yard soccer, that dog was one of the greatest keepers/goalie ever. As long as you didn't kick it too high, Also had to ban her from baseball, as she would try to catch a ground or fly ball regardless of how hard it was hit and wouldn't never quit if it was hot, she would throw up, or lay down for a few seconds but if the ball moved she was up and moving.
  7. Gotta love a game that has rules specific to the location. Like don't go beyond the bush, the dog will attack you, or watch out for the barbed wire fence. Sounds like baseball games from my childhood. Whoever hits it into the pasture with the bull has to go get the ball or you are out.
  8. Whoa whoa whoa, are you throwing down a badminton challenge. If so are there rules and is beer allowed?

    What's Cooking?

One upon a time when I was working 4 days a week in KC and staying in an apartment like motel I decided to use the dishwasher, never owned or used one before. I had a small bottle of Dawn and we'll why wouldn't it work, small squirt and forget it. Short version is about 3 hours later I finally got it all cleaned up, it truly looked like an I Love Lucy episode for a while. Stuck to hand washing them the rest of my term in KC. Tonight for dinner at friends house I have requested Salisbury steak, because i am one of those guys who occasionally buy a salisbury steak TV dinner just because I like them. I think wife has opted for smashed taters to go with, can't go wrong with hat I wouldn't think.
  13. The mink would disagree!
  14. Minks get a pass because hey are obviously rich, wearing that fur coat very where they go just because they can.

    What's Cooking?

Me too Chief, I end up with country fried pork cutlet. My wife occasionally makes the real version and it is good too. I am gonna up grade my lunch today, some left over chicken tenders from last night I cooked after marinating them in a mixture of cola, soy and tereyaki and a few other flavors, then sautéed in the skillet. Gonna chunk them up and warm them in a jar of Bertoli Alfredo sauce with a can of minced crab meat to rich up the Alfredo. Over a pile of noodles, just because it sounded good.

Lol, in my mind I was picturing the brown bread in a can stuff that looks like it survived WWII.

    What's Cooking?

RPS I have heard of but never seen or eaten bread in a can. Where can one find it? Medium Rare broiled venison, mmmmmmmmmmmmm.
  18. Looking for lures on Pomme is always interesting. Occasionally you find a wiggle wart, flicker shad, shad rap etc. that looks like it was attacked with an ice pick, courtesy of a muskie surprising a bass or walleye fisherman. They make for interesting display pieces, always said I would reuse them but seem to end up giving them away or tossing them in a box.

Something for about any preference there Chief.
  20. No doubt that there are fish in any body of water that simply don't have to move much and actively hunt. If I lived right next to a buffet of all my favorite foods why would I drive across the street to have the same thing. Sometimes it's just something different or "wrong" about a lure that makes fish key on it. I was walleye fishing with an old timer one time below Truman, throwing jigs till my arms were worn out, talking about they must not be there, he took a long drag on his swisher sweet and said, "they are there you just gotta have something he might eat, in front of his nose at that point he thinks he is hungry". Actively feeding fish will be aggressive, what I call passive feeders are tougher. Some days you are a hero, some days you are a zero.
  21. That's a pretty good haul. I used to enjoy walking the banks and coves where the prevailing winds hit. Always get like I had won something when I found a decent lure.

My wife LOVES potstickers, and they are dang good I think too. Awesome to see everyone involved.
  23. Sorry to hear that RPS, like others I hate thieves.
  24. Happy New year to everyone, with many fishing trips, good times and good health. Lots of stories from the last year from good health reports hearing those who are battling and winning against cancers to accidents ( Smalliebiggs still gotta win with that giant gash on his nose in the accident category). Here's to less blood and more fish. My upcoming fishing buddy didn't quite make it to midnight, he passed out in my lap, so we had to pose him a little.
