  1. Stanley tools are lesser quality, but handy to have throw in tool boxes and shops for guys like me who think nothing of badging a curve it one for a one time use, or using it in place of a linch pin in an emergency. FWIW I did fill the new thermos with coffee this morning and drank about half of it on way to spfld, then left the second half unit till I got home, still plenty hot enough to drink. Hardly a serious or severe test but good enough for most uses.
  2. One if my old ones has the hollow our through plug/cap and it won't keep coffee hot nearly as long, the plug on the new one has interrupted threads but still the insulated cap, which I like. The other old one has the plain on take it out to pour plug cap. And somewhere in the maze of sheds etc. (If it still exists here) is an OLDER version that has a rubber stopper with a cam deal on it. The cup is plain ulined steel, don't know if stainlessor chromed, and was dented and roughed up. You had about 2 seconds to put the cap down before it burned your fingers and about 30 seconds before the 2 coffee cooled off. Wish I could find that one, dad gave it a rough life, and heck it may actually be at the bottom of a lake or buried in a hayfield too for all I know. If I get a chance (bored enough) I might heat up a couple qts (sorry liters on the new one) and let them.sit over night.
  3. I use the old one several times a year. And.the new Chinese Made onea out perform it I have no clue. I know the old ones do well until you get a couple cups out, then they cool down quicker, I presume due to simply not having the mass of hot liquid in it to keep up the temp. But even a warm.cup of coffee can be a precious thing when you are cold and tired at dark. Since the new one has a nice logo on it, most likely it will simple become decor. But if I need it I would filler it up and.take my decor on a trip.
  4. Just received a box in the mail, inside was a brand new Stanley Thermos. A present for many years of helping out, has a nice logo on it and everything. Heflin it, seemed lighter than my two much older Stanley Thermos. So I go and dig them out, the old ones ar very noticibealy heavier. Turn them over, old ones, Made in Tennessee, new one Made in China. I still very much appreciate the thermos as a gift, and honestly u wouldn't have thought to turn it over and look before I gifted it either. But very much saddened to see an Icon from the past become Chinese Made, sort of looking at a Buck knife you got as a gift and seeing it is one of the Chinese Made ones.
  5. Exactly what I do. The last new truck I bought, the dealer told it comes with a sink? He had to get one of the "kid" mechanics to explain what the "sync" thing was. Truthfully I would have made more use out of a sink.
  6. Guess I am a hybrid, some things I like, others like lane assist and radar cruise control etc. I dont. No real reason, just don't.

    What's Cooking?

Don't if it boosts your immune system, but the results will keep folks away for a while and that is about as good.
  8. I aint skeered, sounds good.
  9. I want to read an biography of your life Oneshot.
  10. I know the feeling, been sick the last several day with ear/sinus infection, COVID, STD, worms, something, about as much energy as an old watch battery. Went to cut a little bit of wood, made it about half a tank before I ran out of oomph. On the good side my new saw was cutting good, and I have some big shrimp and scallops to turn into supper.
  11. My view as I got to work a few days ago.
  12. I thought the Goven mentioned was gong to ban "Tick Talk" but here we are.
  13. Are they closed forever or just temporarily. If short term just wait till they come back, they should make it good.
  14. If half the US population get infected with COVID 19 and it is 1% lethal, my math says that results is 1.5 Million deaths. I will admit to be fairly cavalier about me getting covid, however yesterday I attended the funeral of a very good friends father who passed away after spending 2 weeks on a ventilator. I can be cavalier about myself but I don't want to think about how I would feel.if I thought I was the one who gave it to someone else. I wear my mask when around other folks more to protect them. My wife is a school nurse so she gets to see and be exposed to several, including sending the entire basketball home to quarantine. The two school nurses wear the N95 masks and the other nurse is currently in quarantine after testing positive. It is a small gesture to do to protect someone else. Also keep sanitizing your hands whenever you pump gas, go into a store to buy a coke, smokes, biscuit whatever.

    What's Cooking?

I love turnips but haven't tried them thay way. Sadly this year with everything that was happening I didn't get any planted. My son used to love it when I would cut them like steak fries and coat them with a breading mix and deep fry, not my favorite way but he sure liked them that way.
  16. The waters of COE lakes are considered to be waters of the State. All state and local laws apply and are enforced by state and local authority.
  17. Don't look back, you will run into something in front. I really miss having big moose of a son around, lots of things I did when younger are a lot easier with him to help. I can still do most of it just slower and akwardly. He is only an hour or so away, works at a job (wish it was a better one) has a cute girlfriend that I see more often than him and mostly I just miss having him around. I wouldn't hesitate a moment to loan him anything I have, except some of my better fishing gear!
  18. Ditto
  19. Hmm, think i would have to see that diagramed out to buy it.

    What's Cooking?

Finally got to partake of one of my favorite after Thanksgiving dishes. Saved the carcass of the smoked turkey, my wife added in all the bones, neck, skin etc along with whatever seasonings, herbs and veg that caught her eye. Cooked it all down, picked off the meat and added a bunch of rice. Booyah! One of th3 best soups I have ever eaten. I usually do it with noodles but her version was fabulous. Didnt.take any photos as it isn't very pic worthy and I was dang hungry. 2 big bowls and 4 garlic / cheese biscuits filled me up enough that the recliner captured me for a couple hours.
  21. Gotta have enough fat in the sausage to make gravy! And I am scared just reading about bad hand hanging over a sharp knife.
  22. I really thought Oneshot was gonna tell a story about the time he lived with a witch doctor woman during the Spanish Flu epidemic.
  23. I have a Knight DISC 50, older Muzzleloader, in-line, accurate, killed several deer with it. No longer much good to me and new shoulder though.
  24. I love to wet wade small creeks. I love repeatedly dropping lures into those small secret holes that nobody fishes. When floating given a chance I will beach my canoe and wade fish the heck out of a good looking spot. Usually there are a couple canoes of us and we will.leap from to next hole. Sure can turn a shorter float into one you are paddling like heck to find truck before dark when beaching and wading though.
  25. He is a.thumper for sure!
