When I was a kid my mom often made a quick tater soup and since dad and I both liked oysters she would add a can of oysters to it. Tonight I decided to make a version on wing it mode. Diced up some bacon, thin slice some onions, tossed in a bit of garlic just because. Added some chicken stock after it could down a bit, added the juice from the oysters, a dash of Cajun, a dash if wash you sister sauce, and a dash if liquid smoke. Dumped in the thin sliced taters and once they cooked added quite a bit of half and half, the oysters, a couple cans if Itty bitty clams and some parsley for color. And against all odds it is pretty dang good and a little nostalgic. Nuked an acorn squash just because who doesn't like acorn squash.

So that you have to chew them, like eating cattle feed. I used to fix a pint jar of quick oats with cinnamon, honey or brown sugar and raisins pour full of milk and put it in the fridge the night before. Refrigerator oats, was pretty good actually, and would stay with ya till lunch. Got clever one and though I could skip the sugar/honey/milk and pour it full of coca cola. It sucked.

My motto is just have fun. If I am not having fun I am not gonna fish that way. I know guys who live fishing with LS, and I don't hate it, just not my thing I guess. However I will freely admit if one of them calls me and say wanna go fishing I am gonna go because I can have fun anyway. I would be a terrible money/tournament fisherman for a lot of reasons namely I don't have that kind of skill plus I am not willing to turn something fun into a job.

I am gonna wait until they go live on the MLF cir uit with streaming to a set of VR goggles. Then I can enjoy it all like I was there and then wh3n I just want to have fun I can actually go fishingand takes my chances on getting skunked. However I do like FW's idea of ushering some bass decoys, but just because I am a jerk that way.

Thanks I now hurt thinking about it. We used to cut hogs all the time when I was a kid, by we I mean dad, my job was the catcher of the pigs, which is a unique skill set. We had a pair of 2x12s nailed in a V shape and an old set of car seat belts attached to hold them down. You haven't lived until you have few old sows on the other side of a gate doing their best grizzly bear impression when the little one get to squealing. I abandoned dad for low hanging rafters once 2hen a big normally calm sow had made it part wayover/through the gate. But he had a club hand, to some serious whopping to change her mind. Thought once we could do it in the stock rack in the back of the pick up and then just slide them out into the lot. Bad plan, the sows had that thing rocking and rolling.

Lots of things gs can affect the taste. Flathead, channel, or blue all arw slightly different. Belly and head meat are different from fillets. Where they lube and what they eat affects the flavor, from good clean lake or river instead of a pondwnd of course how cleaned and cooked. My wife always claimed.she hated catfish, but she had never eaten any except pond caught yellow meated, catfish. She has eaten a fair amount of catfish in the last 30 plus years, she just didn't know it usually. I like to keep channels that I catch while crappie or walleye fishing, in the 2 lb range, fillet them out, season them up, butter and bacon grease on the blackstone and sear them up good, makes for a heck of a good sammich.

Hard to say what I don't gardening. Have a bed a asparagus, the cold frame and will probably plant 8nor so of my double mineral tubs, with maters, cakes and zukes. However they all tend to get treated with benign neglect when I want to gonfishing. I have even been successful in getting my wife to take control of them mostly, now that is a success!

Used to raise the little red worms and some night crawlers. The reds were the easiest but yeah they make more little ones rapidly. Never used enough of them to be worth the hassle though.

Guarantee that someone is attempting to clone mammoth and or mastadon. I remember when I was a kid I think that somewhere in the Soviet Union a mastadon/mammoth was uncovered and it was prepared for some of the nobility. I suspect that Vodka would be very important to how palatable it was. The bead find is cool though.

Well.dang it, miss a few days and ya miss the excitement/drama. Oh spring is coming fast fishing will again be most important. Or not, carry on.

Dr. Says I can only take tylenol, something about kidneys I think it was. Went out with a buddy who has a new boat and livescope. It wasn't stellar by any means but we did catch 20 keeper crappie and some shorts. I doubt I plant any lettuce today, the wind is enough that it would scatter it everywhere. OH well I am usually late on planting it anyway.
-
I was gonna plant my cold frame today, went fishing instead. Maybe tomorrow if the Tylenol hold out.

Seems like removal would send a lot of silt downstream into LOZ.

First my apologies for no pics. Daughter and grandson are here for a couple days and the boy is a breakfast eating machine. So I did something different, I made a scrabled egg soft taco, a couole beaten up eggs into a small skillet, some shredded cheese and then a small tortilla on top, once it all cooked and stuck together, then flipped it over and after it cooked a bit more folded it in half. Was supposed to roll into a burrito but was too thick so taco it became. Then for the second course in poured a thin layer of pancake batter into the skillet and made a thin pancake (crepe like thing) when done I laid it on a cutting board, smeared some Nutella on it and abit of jam and rolled it up. Then had to make more of them for my wife and daughter. Was a pretty good hit with them all and pretty simple to make.

Retirement and crappie weather has left me with some time on my hands so I made a bat h of Honey Wheat bread ( 2 loaves ready to go in oven) and a pot of modified cabbage soup. The recipe (guide) was for a diet type vegetarian soup, but add some sausage and jowl meat and it does smell good.

No Horn Tuesday morning at 8am
MOPanfisher replied to Brian K. Shaffer's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Dang it I hate to agree with FW but i kind of do. Signs give you a notice of what can happen, you can even check generation schedule in a matter of a minute or so, granted that is only what is planned not what actually happens. But there is no excuse for no horn at all, it used to be rising quickly and had better be headed to the bank when you noticed the water rising, and I was young and nimble then. -
NO horn at 3pm today - water up fast
MOPanfisher replied to Brian K. Shaffer's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Many years ago I can rember fishermen who got washed away. Seems like the water started up before the horn sounded. Below Truman you will notice the water rising before the horn sounds, but nobody wades there. -
These two can hear the plastic wrapper on crackers and cheese from a mile away. The black one won't chase anything, she apparently has a policy of if it don't mess with her she don't mess with it. The other likes to chase off deer because they run easily. She thinks she is protecting me. The pic is from a couple nights they spent at daughters and were put through the wash and dry system at her vets office. Brown one though it was cool, black one was sure she was being tortured to death.

I have one Yeti tumblers a twistock lid which I like. However it is not close to the Stanley tumblers for keeping coffee hot. Did have one Stanley tumbler that went bad, it was left in a trash can at a gas station somewhere in Indiana.

Same here but I will check.out the FG. Hands shake too much some days to be able to tie more complex knots.

I am old school on the poached eggs, have done a zillion of them as someone described earlier, a little water, cover and steam, plop the on top of a pancake and breakfast is served. Of. Ourselves sides of sausage, gravy, bacon, ham, toast, hash browns, jelly etc are all optional as well.

Mmmm fire. I do love a good fire!

Big Easy Grill is pretty good, especially the bread pudding. I have a Jambalaya recipe that is pretty popular with anyone who isn't allergic to shellfish. The great thing about jambalaya and gumbo is you can put just about anything you want to in them. But yeah you will even smell it when you pee for a couple days.

I have never succeded in poaching an egg, at least not so anyone would notice. Anymore if I don't scramble them, two Border Collies give me the stink eye because they know I will have some extra for them.
