  1. 6 fish twelve inches. Looks like the dude is about to fillet a bunch of rotten fish.
  2. Great film, they did a good job of hiding the tourist and the traffic jams.
  3. Good timing, maybe an early frost will slow the bugs down, no Boy Scouts too. Good luck.
  4. That's what I kept telling the big trout swimming in the San Jaun River a couple of weeks ago, they weren't listening.
  5. Thanks for bumping this thread, I enjoyed reading the last report and comments.
  6. Fourteen descriptions in 6 miles, incredible. You must have drawn the old map I have for some other event, probably a St Louis County presentation.

I think it's time Mitch, all we need is an add to cart button.
  8. At one time I think I had a copy of the map from that but I don't remember the cover. It's probably in the basement getting mildewed along with my copy of the natural streams act and the defunked national scenic riverways proposal for Gasconade.
  9. Yeah, great guy. Tom sold me some of my first fly equipment back when he worked at the outdoors limited on Clayton road. Nice rod,
  10. Some years ago an angling writer did a story about a miserable float on the lower creek. Wrong boat, wrong water level, wrong stretch. Might have been Ray Bergman. First time I floated down to Yellville I got a kick watching the creek lose water the last several miles and finally disappear just below the bridge.
  11. Yeah, you got to eat your Wheaties before you fish with these dudes.
  12. Ha ha, and this is the demographic that MDC is catering to.
  13. Best selfie I've ever seen.
  14. Yes sir, the finest gamefish in the Ozarks, all twelve and a half inches of him.
  15. Or a localized storm effected a tributary between the gage your reading and the gages up stream.
  16. Don't give up your heavy bass gear. Coming from from a gear background will make it a little difficult to get the hang of fly fishing but once you do you'll be better for it. Likewise learning to fly fish will make you a better gear fishermen.
  17. Holy cow, what a fish.
  18. Thanks Dan, can you provide contact information for those within MDC that we can address our comments to?
  19. IMHO minimum flow has had a dramatic effect on the quality of the habitat in white river. Unfortunately due to continued put and take management on Rainbows only the Brown trout have responded. If AFG could get out of the numbers game and allow a little grow between the put and the take the rainbow fishery would be amazing.
  20. A lot of times it doesn't matter how you work it. The strike often happens as soon as the bait hits the water or after the first couple of tugs. Even having slack is no big deal because a delayed hook set allows the fish to turn. The flip side is when the fish seem to get hypnotized by the rhythmic back and forth motion and follow the bait to your rod tip. In that case I'm not sure if a perfect cadence is desired either. Everyone I have fished with does the walk a little different, sometimes it makes a difference often it doesn't.
  21. Yeah, if you limits your tools you limit your options and limit your success. Best to have an open mind and an open tackle bag.
  22. I don't know about that river but I have seen plenty of northern river smallies sipping insects off the surface like trout. The similarities with trout end as soon as you cast a popper that looks nothing like an insect and it disappear in a toilet flush rise.
  23. Great report, on my last visit to that creek the wind blew so hard the only way to get a fly on the water was to stand upwind reach the rod out in line with the drift, strip out line then drop it on the water by dipping the rod tip to the surface. A wonderful place with fantastic fish.
  24. Incredible, If you don't mind, what is a DNR fish counter?
