  1. Good report, yep, those bass keep bankers hours.
  2. I seen several working their way a cross Meramec river Sunday. The plight of the Monarch and the role Monsanto is playing in their demise is troubling.
  3. Illegally, inadvertently or intentionally they will get there. I got to thinking about the map showing distribution. Its likely out of date with every high water event.
  4. I found a USGS map showing distribution but it looks outdated.
  5. I suspect the Great Lakes are doomed to the have these fish sooner rather than later. On a local note It will be interesting to see how long it takes invasive carp to breach the high dams in Missouri and Arkansas. Does anyone know if they have made it above Bagnell dam? Above Cannon? Bull Shoals?
  6. Done. Good questions, thanks for asking
  7. I'm disappointed. When I read title I thought no more rude fishermen, backward hatchery managers, wardens hiding in the bushes and other circle J's. Kidding aside, my heart goes out to anyone going through financial difficulties. Very few of us go through life without ever experiencing the anxiety that comes from not knowing if you'll have a roof over your head or food on the table.
  8. My goal for cleaning Bluegill is a minute a fish. in reality it's probably closer to two minutes. No big deal because I almost never keep more than I can clean in a half hour.
  9. That is a good looking fish. The last good brown I caught out of N was all funky looking, kind of like it had just come from a hatchery, 18" and ugly as sin.
  10. Some cool fish and some beautiful streams. Your passion is not so much an obsession as a way of life.
  11. Good trip, good report.
  12. You never know. Yesterday I saw a 225 with a pump and a tiller control.
  13. Great story, thanks. When I'm mixing hardware with software I also tend to focus on the similarities.
  14. Excellent! There must be something special about a Gunfish, I had a similar fish doing summersaults over one yesterday.
  15. For me the most important thing with a Bluegill bug is visibility. I need a bright bug with white legs so I know that when it disappears it's in a fishes mouth.
  16. I tied the perfection loop incorrectly for better than twenty years. It always held up but had a stupid crook at the end. It's taken me two years to break the habit and tie the knot correctly.
  17. Although I feel enforcement isn't nearly what it should be my experience has been different. I typically get checked once a year and often twice. I don't know why I get check more than most, it almost always happens at a public access. Over the course of a season I use many different access but I never hang around longer than it takes to load and launch. Of all the times I've been check the experience usually starts well and with a few exceptions ended well.
  18. That's cool, good looking boat. Did you do any fiberglass work?
  19. That's good bass.
  20. Ha, Ha, I admit I have slipped a few times. For the most part a won’t tell my own mother about my favorite places. Of course if you want to meet me at the boat ramp I’ll tell you which one.
  21. Thanks for the report Al. Mum’s the word.
  22. They had time on their side.
  23. If this was a just world they would get what they deserve. I'm afraid this isn't a just world.
  24. so much for being a good steward of the land.
  25. Me too. I have been fortunate, in thirty years of floating and gravel bar camping I have only had one hostile encounter, most folks simply wave. This gentlemen is fortunate that this stretch of river is one of the few that is not overran with kooks. He should also be aware that his signage and threats have nothing to do with it. The only reason this is such a peaceful section of river is because the topography is not conducive to road building and the fact that populations centers are generally located north and south and not east west. If a neighboring land owner were to establish a campground and provide access or if the local politicians were to convince MO DOT to improve roads or god forbid build a bridge it's all over.
