I agree Mike. All 3 of my sons played soccer and I've always felt it to be a great sport for kids because it is always in motion, always moving. Unlike standing in the outfield, daydreaming while waiting for a fly ball. That said, I can't watch soccer on TV. Maybe if I had played it myself. With regard to golf, I like to watch it during the winter just to see some green grass and blue water.

You definitely owe it to yourself to do that. I've had excellent success with it on hard bottom and deep weedlines. I've never thrown it in heavy veg because I'm always fishing it on light line but also because I feel like that little bait would just get lost on a soft, mucky bottom with all the decaying vegetation. Not only that, but in milfoil and coontail, it's never going to reach the bottom and I usually like a bait (eg jig/trailer, brush hog) that moves a little water to let them know it's there. About the only veg that I can think of that grows on a clean bottom is reeds and getting a fish out of those can be a real challenge. I suppose you could try braid.

Glad to hear you got your boat back QB. I was getting a little weary of that steady diet of humble pie while you were fishing from the bank. And Muddy, Nice One!!

TO ALL MY FRIENDS WHO DON'T BELIEVE IN THE NED
Macsimus replied to magicwormman's topic in Table Rock Lake
The Ned is so good, it works the week following the week you should have been here. -
x2. Some real interesting reading when the whole topic of trailer welds breaking hit the forum.

Cause they can, I guess. Sort of like a 650 HP motor in a 3500# Corvette?

Nice! I'm not sure however, that the wife's Mazda will be able to tow that beast home. If I get it, can I join your club or is there a HP limit too.

Can't believe that guy is smiling. Must be in shock.

I don't think it's a rarity. More like a steady stream. I've been on BBC since 2005 and there have been a LOT of bannings. The trouble with these sites is that someone has to ride herd or they just descend into chaos. I've seen it done here on OAF several times but it's always been by members that care and with finesse rather than the hammer approach employed by BBC. However, BBC has over 100K members which greatly ups the percentage of knucklehead participation. That said, your banning was silly and should have never happened.

Yes, that is really unfortunate I hope you are able to get it quickly repaired.

OA One Bass Tournament CANCELLED/Reschedule

Now if we could just get some ice on the lake, it would feel like home. Not that I want that, mind you. -
OA One Bass Tournament CANCELLED/Reschedule
Macsimus replied to Quillback's topic in Table Rock Lake
Good call Quill. I'm delighted to not have to tow home from Eagle Rock in this stuff. Believe it or not, there is a lake out there. -
Have no idea if it's the best but the Fillin Station's fried chicken sure makes me smack my lips. It's the saturday special. And, where else can you get a genuine mechanic's rag for a napkin!

What can I say? I have an unquenchable wanderlust. Must get to the James and soon!

Very well stated and I agree totally. What I failed to mention previously is how completely satisfying it is for me to take the winner's check standing there in my Dickie's grey pocket T right next to the 30 percenter in the jersey with the stickered-up truck. On a different note, your lawn "issue" is giving me regular laughs. I grew up in a middle-income suburb of Cleveland with manicured, postage-stamp-sized yards (well, except for ours) and I wish I had a dollar for every time I fetched a ball from the neighbor's front yard only to look up at him glaring at me from his picture window.

I've been tournament fishing for 16 years now and I think it's mostly about the competition. It's a real kick being the guy that figured 'em out on a given day better than everyone else. That said, I vastly prefer team tournament over draw formats although I have made some great friends that way as well. The last 8 years, I've team-fished with my youngest son and it has been the highlight of my adult life (other than grandchildren). The way we click and complement each other during a fishing day is very special to me. The wins and Team of the Year wins I've enjoyed with him have been some of the highest highs I've ever experienced. That said, as I get older and lose energy, more and more I enjoy just a relaxing day on the water with family and friends.

Oh come on. Just tell us. Congrats on your recent Open finish. I appreciate your positive attitude. I suspect that a Co-angler who starts the day with a pro on as positive a note as possible, goes a long way in setting the tone for a good day. Of course, there will always be the exception.

That could very well be, Quill. In the 9 days I've been here so far, I've fished the Cow Creek area, Kings, Eagle Rock, Baxter, and Long Creek and struggled at each. I think TR is an especially challenging lake unless you just really know the lake, even more so this time of year with the majority of fish still deep. There are so many, many options and these have to be matched with the right locations at the right time with the right conditions I followed the recent Open closely and to hear Mike McClelland make statements like "I had to be lined up just right" to catch fish out of deep trees is a bit intimidating. I've been trying hard this year to figure out the deep bite and so far, it just has not clicked. But, I live for the puzzle just because solving it can be so rewarding. Thank goodness for the Ned or I'd probably be becoming a regular at the Hawg Trough in Lampe.

Looks like the worst is over, at least in Stone County. We had nickle size hail here in the Blue Eye area. Do y'all ever just get plain old rain down here??
