Sounds like there's a good crop of youngsters coming up in the system and that is good news. Great report Bill. I've been known to giggle myself on occasion when the little guys are so cooperative. It's just pure fun.
Hmmm...might have to give that a shot.
The thing is also a multi-species beast. Since you guys turned me on to it down there In March, I have caught LM, SM, Spotted, Crappie, Bluegill, Sauger, Northern Pike, and a nice "Sheep of the Deep".
Lol. I agree that gravel lizards fight but being from a place where the vast majority of anglers are insane on them, it's kind of fun to disrespect them a little. On the other hand as already noted, there is no finer shore lunch.
I remember watching an All American on Lake Hamilton quite a few years ago, maybe 2000 or 2001. Jeff Coble from North Carolina who eventually won the thing, had a camera guy in the boat and they were showing him reeling in a fish. Coble cranked the fish to the surface, saw that it was a walleye and turned to the camera and said, "yep...I thought so...felt just like a deesh rag." Totally unexpected and pretty hilarious at the time!
