  1. Was just thinking of anyone that might be interested in going there and should've been more clear regarding how shallow and rocky it is. Plus, SM fishing is excellent, LM not so much and there certainly isn't any backwaters or slop bite like there is in the La Crosse area.
  2. That's quite a different experience than the La Crosse area. Many years of C & R regs have produced a quality fishery there for sure but it isn't bass boat territory!
  3. I'd say you hooked more than the fish! Well done, sir. 👍👍
  4. Including today's first two periods, if I understood it correctly, the MLF guys have caught the following: LM 2,800 4,846lbs Spots 2,615 3,804lbs SM 562 1,005lbs Not sure where they got the 12,655 lbs total as I added it up and got 9,655 total lbs. Still, some pretty darn good catchin'!
  5. Indeed. But, now that I know how to correctly pronounce 'Missouri', I feel better about myself. How are ya, lad? Did you make it down for a spring trip this year?
  6. They're known as government dogs up here. 😀 I have never been able to enjoy staring down a hole in the ice hoping to catch a 6" bluegill. Now a heated shack with a good card game and a pot of chili on the stove is an excellent treatment for cabin fever.
  7. Lol. That pic was taken in Feb. Here it snows in Nov and just stays until April. None of the nancy snows that are gone in a day. And yes, I would prefer rain.
  8. No offset or door size problem thank goodness, but I did have a garage depth problem. With my son's help, we added a dog house to the back wall that provides space for the motor. It hangs about 6" off the ground so no footings. It allowed me to stuff a 20' 4" boat into 20' 11" of available space thanks to the way in which BassCat minimizes trailer length. Straight in, no angle parking, and the missus is able to park in the other stall which ensures general happiness. Grandaughter checking out the clearance:
  9. Good wakeboarder deterrent.
  10. I was glued to my laptop watching KY3 radar for most of the storm. I couldn't believe the number of tornado warnings that kept popping up. Severe weather always puts me on edge after going through a terrifying storm with my kids when they were young. Fortunately, nothing other than some heavy rain in the Blue Eye area after the rough stuff passed.
  11. The Good Lord has heard your cry and sent a mighty wind. 😀
  12. Obviously, it can't be argued that there isn't a lot of tournaments on this lake. However, at least those fish stand a very good chance of surviving. Not so for these fish. I took the picture at the end of the dock at Cow Creek yesterday and yes, they are (were) all bass. Maybe ya got a bigger or at least, another significant problem that no one is talking about in their haste to "villianize" the derbies.
  13. Yesterday's evening treat.
  14. Awesome fish and wonderfully written story!
  15. Very nice, QB. Delighted to hear that the Ned is working!
  16. Any plans for a 1/16oz ?
  17. You have no idea...😢
  18. Please post. Anxious to hear what you find out.
  19. I have tried those as well and liked them except for the weedguard. After a fish or two, it's all bent to heck and a bit of a challenge to get straightened again. I prefer the mono guards. Found these recently and although I haven't had a chance to throw them yet, I like the small head, guard, and choice of hook sizes, #2, #1, and especially the 1/0. I'll be giving them a workout in 6 weeks or so, Lord willing. 😉 They're a little pricey, probably due to the use of tungsten for the head. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Keitech_Mono_Guard_Jig_Head/descpage-KEMGJHD.html
  20. I always laugh whenever I remember Johnny Carson talking about going to Our Lady of Perpetual Guilt. I was raised strict baptist, so I get it. 😄
  21. I keep seeing these threads about fish being caught from what to me are incredible depths. I can't recall the last time I even tried a depth over 40' much less caught one from that depth. Isn't there a barotrauma risk bringing fish up from that deep?
  22. I've never liked the minimum size regulations. I know what they're supposed to do. But in my experience, all they do is encourage the "keep and kill" of larger fish. Wisconsin has had a 14" minimum for many years and I have fished numerous lakes over there where it seems all you catch is 13 to 13 3/4" fish. If all you care about is numbers, it's a great reg. Just a thought, but maybe a different term for fish over 15" other than "keeps" or "keepers" would help. Just idle thoughts on a winter day.
  23. Best wishes Champ, for a successful surgery and quick recovery.
  24. Excellent, entertaining fishing report, Royal Blue. Keep 'em coming.
