  1. You hear a lot nowadays about discourteous fishermen and confrontations on the water. I got out for a few hours yesterday afternoon in the Old Hwy 86 area. I was determined not to get in anyone's way as I knew the Big Bass Tour was going on. The first boat I encountered on Point 2 swung way wide of me before we even got within communicating distance. The second boat refused to swing inside on the bank I was on even though I twice attempted to wave them in. My hat's off to you gentlemen. The fish weren't nearly as friendly. In fact, I would say they were downright hostile. Caught 3 in 4 hours, one being a keeper Spot that looked like it was going to burst. It still thought it had room for a DT-10. Two 13" smallies that thought there were 16" came on the Ned. They remind me of little ankle-biters that think they're Rotweilers. I flogged 4 main lake pockets with cranks, swinghead/Menance grub, and the Ned. I must not be holding my mouth right as the derby boys caught some dandies.
  2. Well done sir!
  3. I don't believe that for a second! But, you are more than welcome to my "spots".
  4. No, unless you think the 8 inchers I'm on right now might win an hourly weigh-in. How about you?
  5. The church lady was awesome.
  6. Thanks for the info-packed report Bill. Again. I take some comfort from your report as the phrase "completely random" describes my fishing the last week and a half. Not that that is an indicator of anything, neophyte that I am.
  7. Beautiful fish! Having been in the area myself on Sat, I know how hard they were to come by. Did you catch them early? Thanks for your post.
  8. Sure hope there was no damage. Being from MN, I tend to forget about such things as frozen pipes as our stuff is all buried well under the frost level.
  9. Fog rolling in this morning. Such a beautiful lake.
  10. Thanks for the great info. The water looks quite a bit clearer than what I'm seeing down here around Cow Creek, especially in that last picture.
  11. Lol, Champ. No danger there. I had a good friend from MN along and at a minimum, I always feel blessed just to be on the water.
  12. Man, gotta take my hat off to you. We fished some of the same area yesterday, Little Cow to Indian's Pt, and struggled hard. I knew I was missing something. Know it for sure now. Way to catch 'em!
  13. Wow, they were choking that wart!
  14. She's over at Ulrich for a little annual maint. It's killin' me.
  15. Thanks. Enjoyed meeting you as well. I am glad to be here for numerous reasons but missing that storm has to be one of the biggest. March up there can be especially cruel as it's one of the snowiest months there. Just when you get that first bad case of spring fever, you get dumped on!
  16. I caught some big LM females very close to the backs of a few pockets Fri and Sat but must defer to the local gurus as to the extent of "activity" going on.
  17. Mischief last night in the creek pockets?
  18. They had Danna's cater, I believe, and we ate at Schooner Creek. Great time!
  19. I suspect that most all here have already heard of and seen this movie as it's a little dated but just in case you haven't... http://www.bassmanmovie.com/ It's a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at Elite-level fishing and highlights Takahiro Omori, Jay Yelas, and Rick Clunn. I highly recommend it. Update: sorry, don't know if it's still available. I just tried the DVD order link and it doesn't work.
  20. Way to go on the slam, QB! I'm glad to hear the Ned action is picking up.
  21. Great win today. Glad he got to enjoy it with his wife and son.
  22. Congrats on the 4th. Great finish in some challenging conditions. Met a bunch of great people at the rally, got introduced with their real names and I'll be scratching my head until the next rally trying to pair that with forum names. Hard enough for me to remember one name let alone two.
  23. Thanks Jeff.
  24. A tale of two days. Thursday, fished 9 hours, from Old Hwy 86 to almost point 5. Weather was cloudy AM, cleared around noon, little to no wind. Caught 2 keepers and 2 shorts in 9 hours. Best keeper was a 19" smallie that just lunched on a crankbait. Why it was the only one willing I don't think I'll ever understand. I fished mainly main-lake stuff that day covering many locations that were very good to me last year at this time. Friday, fished from KC to Cow area with new-found friend, Dave, from SD. We were pre-fishing for the BBC midwest rally on Sat. Weather was cold, heavy overcast with occasional rain, and a strong norfer front that blew through mid-afternoon. The fish were on fire. The difference in their attitude from Thursday was simply amazing. Dave and I said the heck with the tournament and just pounded as many as we could. It was easy fishing, the kind of day that mid-winter dreams are made of. The majority came on cranks including the gal shown below. She went 23" and 6.56 lbs. Caught her almost at the back of a pocket with water temp showing 52. I'm very happy that we caught 'em on Friday as we struggled hard yesterday with the post-front conditions. We weighed 4 for 13.9 lbs, winning sack was 17.7. Thanks Dave for a couple of very enjoyable fishing days. Good luck returning to snow country.
  25. Heckuva day. Congrats!
