Exactly what I was going to suggest before you beat me to it! We stay there a couple of times a year and, although we do have a boat, we fish those areas a bunch and with pretty good success. Lots of smallies and spots in those areas - more smallies around the boat ramp point and more spots in the little cut west of the big dock. There's also a screened in fishing dock on the point in between those two places that's surrounded by brush piles and also tends to hold lots of spots. Though seasonal, they're pretty good topwater locations too but I agree that the Ned is the way I would go.

Actually, Mr. Babler had been providing the KC Star reports up until the recent void. About half of the other lake reports have appeared to be cut and paste jobs from the previous week for the last couple of months. Not very informative and it's as though conditions never change. Several days after a big rain in October the paper said that Hillsdale was "one foot high and clearing". My brother and I thought that sounded a little odd but headed down that way the next day just to see. EIGHT foot high and rising and as muddy as the Mighty Mo! Ever since Brent Frazee got forced out the outdoors section has been a joke. Of course, the rest of the sports page is deteriorating pretty rapidly too. Heck, you can't even get a box score from a Royals game the next morning without going to the "online edition". If they were playing late on the west coast I would understand but that's seldom the case. I've been a subscriber since the mid 70's but this might be the last year for me. If so, I'm gonna miss the morning read after all these years but it just ain't what it used to be and the main portion is like watching CNN or MSNBC. It goes into the trash immediately. But evil's right - OA is by far the best source when it comes to Table Rock and is usually the first thing I check every morning!

Hmm. Conversely, it usually takes me a few trips to get conditioned to NOT GOING OUT THERE IN THIS CRAP ANYMORE! I think my "acclimation" days went out the window after a few years of fighting fires in the middle of ice and snow storms in northeast Kansas. Wind, ice and 15 degrees is just flat out no time to be outside playing with big hoses!

C'mon Mojo, that doesn't have anything to do with Patty Benjamin or even Holly Benjamin for that matter! You're gonna get everybody all confused with this "on topic" crap! (pretty good stuff though, thanks)
-
My. Dems some good blues! And THAT ain't Patty Benjamin! Searching iTunes........

The only thing I'd hit is my thumb. How do I know that? Don't ask.
-
That's good news. However, I still want to know more about how the 40000 degree biscuits turned out and what your monthly electric bill is like while operating a nuclear reactor in your kitchen!

Reading thru this thread only served to reinforce my lifelong suspicion that I know zero about the "business world". A career in the federal government will do that to a guy I guess........

Well, as a matter of fact, yes I do! Heading out to destroy pace of play at Firekeeper as I write this! Thanks for thinking of me!

2018 Big Bass Tour Registration Now Open!
vernon replied to Big Bass Tour's topic in Table Rock Lake
Don't sell yourself short Ab, you're a tremendous chump! -
What?!?! C'mon Wrench! Get back in the fight! You're no daisy! This is way too good a readin' to stop now! I'd like to tune in some night and see you two guys go at it on Tucker Carlson!

Word on the street is that Johnny's fixin' to buy Bella Vista! HOA dues will be about $20,000 annually but there will be lots of really cool water falls to look at!
-
OK. It's official. I hate you Bo. And you too Mike!
-
Me too, kinda. I have at least a dozen LocTites in the boat, two of which are opened. If they fail, they get tossed and I move to the ten backups. When that happens, I go buy a couple more to replenish the stash. Life’s too short to fret over a cheapazz bottle of glue!

Pretty sure that they called my program “exceptional” but that wasn’t necessarily a good thing..... Depends upon your definition of “exceptional” I guess.

I said that too until I got the Ultrex. One of the greatest "old dude" creations ever!

No, no, no. That's like totally and absolutely impossible. You see, the government and EPA have regulations that completely prevent things like that from ever happening and they monitor the industries very closely to make sure that nobody breaks any of the rules and to ensure that us and the environment remain totally unaffected and safe! They're trying to build one of those babies about fifteen miles from us and local folks (on both sides) are about to lose their minds. Although "Tyson of Tonganoxie" does have a certain ring to it.....

Every time they say, "Grow the sport" all I hear is, "Make more money regardless of outcome." Doesn't matter if it's fitness, golf, cycling, fishing or you name it all they really want to do now is make as much money as possible and as fast as they can and call it, "maximizing potential for growth". I'm probably wrong about this but it used to seem (to me anyways) that "growing" something was more about increasing awareness about how beneficial or fun something was and then creating more quality opportunities for folks to participate and share in the enjoyment. Like building more gyms or bowling alleys or tennis courts or jogging trails - especially in underprivileged areas of towns making opportunities more readily available to more residents. Now it has zip to do with the quality of the experience - which in fact, in my opinion, has actually gone down in most areas of interest - and is rather all about how can we drain the last single dollar out of all these suckers before we have to move on to the next sham. The current full court press being applied to the COE to roll back restrictions on docks and shoreline construction is a prime example as are the more than six hundred bass tournament per year on Table Rock. Neither of which are intended to improve quality or opportunity but rather to maximize profits. Take a look at modern day Branson. Another prime example of "growth" literally consuming and destroying the quality of the experience. I've never been to a Branson show in my life but one needn't be a show groupie to see that that place is going to hell in a hand basket and at a high rate of speed. It appears to me that it won't be long before instead of being a country music mecca it will have become a blight on the countryside reminiscent of abandoned inner city projects. And for what? Just follow the money.

I believe the correct term is "Extreme". At least I think that's what Zona said.

Of course you did.......

$40?!?!? They were TEN BUCKS in the 60's!!!! AFTER TAX! I played in the Chuck's in high school and moved "up" to suede Converse in college ball but would take the Jordan's everyday of the week! Those Converse were the stinkenest, blister creating monstrosities of all time and the "white" ones turned yellow after about two days. Remember the weighted ones with the blue toes for practice? Of course, we weren't allowed to wear the low cuts or even the black ones because they were for hot dogs just trying to look cool (like the Celtics). Sorry, but definitely NOT one the best examples of the good old days! Ranks right up there with wool baseball uniforms....... Ugh.
-
No - but it won't stop them from saying that they can!

That is some awesome stuff! Thanks!
