Splish splash. š
Still got the fish too.
I think im most impressed by him fishing a topwater plug inside the dock like that. Iād be hung up every other cast.
I used to catch them like that or bigger on LOZ when I was a kid all the time. That was before the encapsulated foam. I noticed a difference in the size and quantity of big bluegills when they started putting in the encapsulated foam instead of the old styrofoam.
I have found a great jig to keep the trailer from sliding down. Check out Oldhamās Jigs. They have a fantastic trailer keeper that works better than any Iāve found. They are a decent price too. They carry them at Sportsman Outlet in Springfield.
I thought you guys were going to get it at about 4:30 today. I just got a few sprinkles. I guess itās better than all the damaging hail they were talking about on the radio.
What all camps did you go to? I helped pay for college working at a big Boy Scout Camp in Oklahoma (Hale Scout Reservation). Both of my brothers spent some time working there too. Some of the best summers in my life. They were long and hard, but I loved them.
I also really enjoyed Camp Mack Morris in the West Tennessee Area Council.
Watch the LOTO reports this summer. I guarantee for bass it says āthrow plastic worms in brush pilesā;for catfish it will say ānightcrawlers, and cut bait (maybe chicken livers)ā; for crappie it will say āminnows and jigs around docks and over brush pilesā. Itās like... duh.
So very generic.
I always take the MDC fishing reports with a grain of salt. They never seem like they are super accurate to me. Plus, they are usually so very generic that it isnāt even helpful after youāve seen a few.
Man I wish I could find those. I look and look and usually donāt find any. The only way I ever seem to find any is if I accidentally sit down next to one while turkey hunting. I looked for a few hours today after getting my turkey and came up with nothing.
I somehow managed to improve slightly today. I have Tommy Biffle and he is sitting #6. So, Iāve got that going for me. I almost picked Vandam, but decided not to. I was really expecting the local boys do well this time around. Iām starting to learn that, while there is usually a local boy in the mix, a full lineup of locals may not be the best choice.
Wow! That might be just what I need for jig skipping. When I accidentally hit a dock float, it usually isnāt pretty. So, it I should the sv spool that does that? Any of the models with sv would work then?
Wow!
So what is the difference between the 100s the CTs and the SVs? Besides the price of course. What am I missing out on by buying reels at a lower price point ($80-100)?
What is the difference? I havenāt ever used the tatula, but I keep hearing about how it is the ābest reel for skipping jigsā. What makes it so much better? Is it somehow resistant to backlashing?
For most of my life I would put an uncle joshās pork frog on my spinnerbaits. I like the extra bulk and action you get using it and I always felt like it helped draw more strikes. That being said, I have recently started using a trailer hook instead and I do feel like my hookup percentage has gotten better. When one takes a swipe at it, it usually gets stuck.
Iāve not fished much past the hurricane deck bridge. Sometime I need to find someone who is familiar with the upper osage to take me up there and show me the ropes. At least how to navigate it. Iām told it can be tricky.
A cut off piece of a McDonaldās straw works in a pinch too. I usually put a littl piece of tubing after the trailer hook to keep it from sliding off. Sometimes I put a piece on both sides of the hook to hold it in place.
It was flat terrible. I caught only one keeper all weekend and it came within one minute of the start of fishing on Saturday morning. It wasnāt quite 2 pounds by my scale. I managed only one more dink on Saturday and only a handful of short fish on Sunday. It was sure tough.
My boat partner and I are splitting 50/50. Not that it matters if we canāt catch some fish. Man it was tough today. My biggest fish came at 6:31 this morning and it didnāt quite break 2 pounds. I hope the fishing is better tomorrow.
