  1. Hi Guys- I launched at Spring Creek today at noon due to some boat maintenance in the morning, quit at 5pm. Fished the Oakland/Gulley area for the most part. Tough day, with 3 keeps and 5 shorts for me, the father in law and 11 year old both skunked. Water temps 48-51, clear to stained. High skies with very little wind most of the day. Fish caught on Wart, RC, and A-rig, with keeps on the wart in 10' and the Arig in 28'. Steep banks in the back of creeks and the mouth of creeks, no love on flatter stuff for me. Tough day for March, but felt good to be on BSL for the first time since last May. Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer, and that should make it better, so we will see if I can get the kiddo and the old man some fish tomorrow. Will add pics later, not uploading at the moment-
  2. Fish 24/7 has caught a couple of those in Bull over the years fishing with me. They show from time to time...lol p.s. there are no fish in music creek this time of year, move along...
  3. FYI, Sunline diameters run thinner than most other brands, so look at the specs rather than pound test for apples to apples comparisons...
  4. Sniper is awesome on spinning tackle. I use the 7lb for Ned, grubs and tubes, and have no problems at all on Shimano 2500 size reels. I use a squirt of reel magic every once in a while, but have no real problem with twist.
  5. +1
  6. In my not so humble opinion, you really haven't fished Flourocarbon till you have fished Sunline Sniper or Shooter. Berkeley Trilene 100 percent Flourocarbon is ok, personally I haven't really liked any Seagaur since Carbon Pro. The Sunline stuff is just so much better in every way, it's hard not to sound like a boat show-sublimated jersey-flat bill hat wearing "pro staffer" when talking about it. +1 on the Big Game too.
  7. I'm In the middle of cleaning reels and changing line now- and I'm gonna go off topic a bit and include spinning- I'll second Champ, and rave about Sunline products. Best Flourocarbon I've used, Sniper handles better and seems less stretchy than Invisix, Shooter is just the best line i've ever used for bottom bait applications. It's low stretch and super sensitive, but doesn't feel like wire. Yes, good line is expensive, so 50 pound braid backing on all casting reels, btw. You can save quite a bit by using backing and just putting a couple casts worth of money line on, instead of a whole spool. Here is what's going on my junk this year. ned/grubs/tubes on spinning= 7# Sunline Sniper FC in green jerkbait= 10# Sunline Sniper FC crankbaits= 12# Sunline Sniper FC finesse jig, senko/fluke, wobbleheads, bladed jigs= 14# Sunline Shooter topwater/spinnerbaits/squarebills= 17# Sunline Defier Armillo mono football jigs/Crigs= 20# Sunline Shooter flipping jigs/creature baits= 20# Sunline flipping FC Arigs/swimbaits= 30# Sunline Shooter FC
  8. Praying as well.
  9. Been there done that, on hwy 5 between Gainsville and Mountain Home. Not a sign of a shoulder anywhere!
  10. In a tourney against the quality of a field that the OMTT draws, that is a solid finish for sure. Nice job!
  11. I guess Internet research is an important part of derby preparation, and Lord knows I've learned a lot from lurking on here over the years, but I've found my real knowledge of fishing (and life for that matter) has been gained from relationships with other fishermen who are better than I am. If you are just lurking on here, and not taking the time to occasionally post, share information, and cultivate relationships with the many stellar anglers and all around good folks on here, you are missing the most valuable part of OAF. There are some really friendly folks here, who will enrich your life in ways that just internet dock talk won't. p.s. Share info on water color/temps etc even if you skunk it up. Guys may just pm ya with ideas about what you were doing wrong...
  12. Falcon and B&R rods still available, pre rap wiggle warts in the right colors added...
  13. Shame all that rain wasn’t really much warmer than the lake already was- but then again since I’m at least a week, if not two out from getting down to fish, I’m not too torn up about Mother Nature taking her time on spring.
  14. Thanks for the report Ham.
  15. Keep going. Jeremiah 29:11.
  16. Praying as well.
  17. Reels and Lamiglas rods sold
  18. Let's get this stuff to a new home! 1-Falcon Cara Reaction CCB-5-173DR $110 This is a 7’3” Cara Reaction “deep runner” heavy power, moderate action, deep crankbait rod. Perfect for DD22’s, Fat Free Shads, and Medium to big size keitech swimbaits. Great rod in great shape. 1-Falcon Cara T7 Mike McClelland signature series MMC-6-174 football jig rod. $125 7’4” heavy power, fast action, spilt grip, micro guides. Killer rod for most any bottom contact bait. 1-Falcon Cara T7 Mike McClelland signature series MMC-5-172 swim jig rod. $125 7’2” medium/heavy power, fast action, spilt grip, micro guides. Best fluke/floating worm rod I’ve ever used. 1-B&R outlaw rods BR76H $75 This is a B&R outlaw Platinum Series full cork grip, 7’6” heavy power, fast action rod. B&R is high quality, but not as well known brand, locally made in the STL area. It is a bit of a G.Loomis knockoff, with similar cosmetics to an IMX, and I'd place the blank quality somewhere between a Loomis GL3 and IMX. This rod is great for deep water football jigs, or C-rigs, and A-rigs. 1-B&R outlaw rods BR66MS 6’6” medium spin $75 B&R outlaw Platinum Series full cork grip, 6’6” medium power, fast action rod. As I said above, B&R is another high quality, but not as super well known brand, locally made in the STL area. This one is a killer grub/tube rod, and also works well for the Ned. (314) 313-0071 is my cell, and due to work and family life, texting is preferred. All offers entertained, Cash, Paypal, or I can run credit cards face to face. I will ship for actual shipping costs. Thanks!
  19. I'm not speaking for Phil at all, and I'm sure he will shut it down if he feels the need, but I for one appreciate the fact that we can disagree on important issues like climate change and not call each other names. I've learned a lot from Phil, Al, Vernon and others here on the OAF about rain events, stream flow, lake level management, and climate change. This is a pretty special community, and I think at this point we all do a pretty gosh darn good job of listening and sharing ideas while keeping things respectful. We all say things in the heat of a discussion from time to time that we might regret, but this is the only forum where I've ever seen folks self moderate when they step over a line that others find disrespectful. It's a refreshing change from most of the online world. Frankly, if the Blue team and the Red team in the political world listened and talked to each other with anywhere close to the same level of mutual respect that we do here on the OAF, our country would be in much better shape. So, I say all that to say that I'll keep checking in and learning, and hope Phil lets the conversation go as long as it stays respectful and productive.
  20. This x1000. It's a reality to face, and the American way to face new reality is to try and figure out how to make a buck on it. You don't have to be a Democrat Commie Liberal Socialist like me to accept climate change. You can be a good capitalist, accept the science, and innovate a way to help the planet, and make a healthy profit at the same time.
  21. Thanks for taking the time to update us here in the internet land. Stay safe, we are all sharing your cautious optimism and still praying.
  22. I can't complain too loud. Water stayed out of most of the houses that got hit in 2015, including my friend's place. Yes, Bull had some room and still does, but there is also a little more rain in the forecast. They play the odds the best they can, with the data they have, according to the rules they have. I'd say their rules need updating a little, but I wouldn't say this was screwing the pooch. Looks to me like they did OK this time, as compared to 2015. They were drawn down in the winter, and released what they had to to stay on top of the rain event as it came, and didn't over-release and flood more than they had to. I'd score this one at least a B- as I see it from my armchair.
  23. And I'll get roasted for this- but I'll take some heat off Vernon. These flood events are a result of man made climate and environment change. More frequent extreme weather events is exactly what the climate science guys have been saying for decades would happen with the increase of Co2, and we are seeing it happen. Combine those weather events with less and less green space to absorb water and the increase in concrete from populating the White River drainage, and we have what we have, which is 100 years floods every couple of years in the Ozarks. I do think the COE, and congress should be looking at how to be more flexible in dealing with these events, and maybe that is part of the master plan revision. I don't know, but what Vernon says seems to make sense to me. I do think those who continue to toe the party line about climate change not being man made, maybe should adjust their thinking a little bit. It's real. It's effecting us now, and we need to stop burying our head in the sand and react like Americans, which is figure out new ways to solve problems and make a buck doing it, rather than grow more and more nostalgic and intellectually lazy. Changing to cleaner energy and fixing the environment doesn't have to mean loss of jobs and damage to the economy. It's only an either/or deal for people who refuse to see it as an opportunity to innovate.
