  1. Thinking the Niangua is on the Osage drainage. A big lake separates them though. Its always fished pretty well but it's a rare trip with the Meramec and Gasconade drainages along the way. Never have made it to the James our the streams in Chief's corner of the State. Will get there someday.
  2. Good advice. I like his swim jigs a lot. They take some big smallies.
  3. Fishing is difficult in Europe. Rod fees, access fees, restricted beats. A buddy who lives in London fishes in Spain a lot. Airfare is about $100. Fishing costs vary. Room rental cost to a couple hundred extra.
  4. No time to digest that. Think we are gonna get something though. Thinking harvest is way understated. The sample size was tiny but it yielded some interesting results. think a few very good C&R anglers took a bunch of MDC tag money on some those creeks. Odd selection to. Have fished all of the tag water. None of it on my A list.
  5. Assassin beetle? Horse fly? Fell out of my canoe to escape a squadron of horse flies a couple years ago.
  6. Looks like a good one! Should have no trouble selling it at that price. Will let a buddy know. He has been looking.
  7. The bigger more fertile streams seem to be best IMO. Even better if there isn't a public access every 5-10 miles.
  8. Ollie it's the old town standard mount with a 4 hp capacity. Aluminum rail with two wood blocks. New retail is $ 139.99 but the sticker on the original box says I paid $59 for it. Great condition how bout $50 plus shipping? Pm your digits if interested, will text you pics.
  9. Have floated it from lane down to I-44. The trout fishing is hit our miss. Smallmouth fishing is OK in the lower creek but it's usually a long way between stretches with good habitat. Find habitat you will find some fish, skip the spots were they gravel mine and the ones that are overrun with cows.
  10. The small red ones are probably cinnabar chants...they don't get very big. The commons and the smooth chants can get pretty big though.
  11. Oak hickory woods.
  12. It's getting hot enough, but have not looked yet. Sweating and chants. some should be up now or soon.

    Nice Drew! Good for you!
  14. Never have bothered to register mine. Ran a trolling motor on it a few times. Been years. Need a nice old town motor mount? Darn near new.

  16. Sounds like a joint venture. The present owner retains ownership and that Myron is going to develop & manage it. Proceeds split down the middle to do what they want with it. The reporter doesn't seem to have any business sense.
  17. Odd split on the money.
  18. Looks like an awesome trip! Thanks for the report.
  19. Might call the local police and see if they are willing to help you retrieve your property.
  20. Use them all the time. Feather & Hair jigs are a must have if you want to fish for smallmouth on special regulation trout water. Brown trout like them too.
  21. You have a lifetimes worth to explore within a couple hours drive. Lakes, creeks, ponds, and rivers abound. Picking where to fish is the hardest part. Welcome.
  22. Big problem there. Only 2-3 spots that you can't drive too between Cedar Grove and Akers on the Current. ATV & 4x4 use can be heavy around Big Creek just below Cedargrove, down at Flying W too. The holes who defaced chalk bluff need some special attention.
  23. Sorry assumed Arkansas...Oklahoma is a bit different because landowners own the stream bottom on non-navigable rivers. The public has a right to fish if they can get to the river via public land, but the state does not claim ownership of the stream bottom.. No case law on anchoring, or portaging, but I saw a note saying you cant anchor a trot line on a landowners property. Think your still good to go.
  24. Think your fine...Arkansas says recreational use is cause enough to deem a stream as navigable in the state of Arkansas...i.e. the state claims ownership to the river bottom up to the high water mark. Anchor do what you want. The guy might not like it but he is clearly wrong.
