  1. Nice catch! Bet it was a blast on trout tackle.
  2. Size and cadence seem to matter more than color. I do prefer translucent minnow colors, but opaque, and flashy colors have a place in your box too. Carry a couple sizes between 2.5-5". Usually start with a 4" model.
  3. Al gets in 3 casts to my one or two. Just gotta do it and learn.
  4. The fish just eat it. No need for setting a hook as long as they are reeling and in contact with the bait. Really sharp hooks.
  5. My girls have a ball with it (4 & 6). Works really well with their slow retrieve 5' 6" spinny cast set ups. They cast, count to ten, and start reeling. Usually catch a few, and you rarely need to re-rig for them.
  6. The old mill is at turner north, well worth the trip. Hike down to Greer spring while you are there too.

    Pit Bulls

Too bad for your dog and your wallet....Surprised that the owner hasn't put that dog down yet. No grudge against pits or any other breed of dog, but you have to take responsibility for your pet, spend time with them, and train them. Heck, my step-mom got mauled by her schnoodle a couple months ago...almost lost a couple fingers. She never trained or spent any time with that dog...should not have had it in the first place.
  8. Good for you both! Its always more fun to watch the ones you love catch fish and smile.
  9. 30 bridge is in St. Clair. Costs a couple bucks to park & launch. Glad u had fun.
  10. Sometimes they don't bite....or you spooked them. If you can see them...they can see you...longer casts with small plastics like the ned, or a small walker can often turn the trick in clear water. Better luck next time.
  11. For sale...Yakima Roof Rack System designed to clamp to a factory roof rails... Set of 4 Yakima Low Riders 2 round 78" bars 2 round 48" bars 8 load stops.. Everything but the straps to get your canoe or two down the road...Well used but still serviceable...St. Louis Area...pickup only...$150...text to three, one, four, seven, nine, five, 3,7,3,3, and I'll send pics.
  12. 1/2oz black & blue spinner bait with a 5" curly tail trailer...bout 18" long...Private Lake in Mid-Mo.
  13. Very nice, good for you both!
  14. Good for you guys! Awesome catches!
  15. 4" single tail grub (Zoom Fat Albert) Dark & Pearl Tubes 3-4" any brand, Dark Soft jerkbait, usually a yammie D-Shad these days, Minnow color ZinkerZ's Big Hammer Swim bait tails 4"
  16. I review & store stuff in electronic format mostly, rarely print anything unless its a bollocks, and you need to refer back & forth to more than 3 monitors will hold...Still nothing better than pen & paper to figure stuff out or keep a tally though.
  17. Sounds like an interesting adventure. Keep at it, I'm sure that you will find them.
  18. No surprise about catching smallies on mediocre trout water. Goggle eye fishing was better than the trout or smallmouth...no plans to float it again any time soon, so you can have them.
  19. Jadwin or Current River Canoe @ Pulltite...Jadwin would be my choice though. Have fun hauling your load over Cedargrove low water bridge.
  20. Very nice...married wings and the whole nine yards!
  21. Fun trip, but that stream could be a lot better. We took our kids out for an hour or so on Friday and they caught a mess of smallmouth & rock bass, probably the highlight of the trip. Floated Riverfront to Barclay with Ryan & Mike on Saturday...Fishing was pretty slow...Lots of people, cattle pasture, cabins, and eroded mud banks...Did manage the tri-fecta (smallie, brown, rainbow). The bead head rubber leg fox squirrel was best, followed by the Ned, and Kastmaster.
  22. I don't think Soda & Slough open to fishing until July 15th...so you might be limited to the South East part of the park in that time frame...Firehole, Gibbon, Madison, etc...Might try the Boulder or the Gallatin...depending on water level...Its usually more predictable in August.
  23. Try the KVD sexy dawg jr
  24. Well since I know you...bring some micro brew cans...picked up some Sante Fe today. Happy Camper IPA...pretty solid...Red Ale...new to me...Folks didn't have any Caldera beers in stock...
