  1. My K-Bar is my favorite knife Holds an edge, and you could pound tent stakes or dig a hole with it in addition to its purpose of killing the enemies of the USMC. My Japanese chef knives and Dexter Russel fillet/boning knives are awesome to. Used to have a nice bench made folder, but it left me. The Gerber Multi Tool in the truck covers about 99% of daily needs.
  2. Good stuff, I get it from the fine folks at my fav Mexican place, You know it’s the real deal if that is offered.
  3. Thanks, but just starting to put a dent in what is on hand. Tom Hargrove gave me those to try. but I never had a good opportunity to get them damp. Think I have reason for Tom to wrap me a new 9wt.
  4. Fly preferably. Just need another stooge like me who is willing wake up early/ then go again late. You need a team of two to catch those fish.
  5. Foam is great at times. My go to with foam is a Pink pookie style tie or a Rainey’s Hopper. An old school Madame X in various colors usually out fishes foam flies 2-3 to one.
  6. Thanks guys! I had several follow & swipe at a 4” Megabass and follow a small Plopper. Some good ideas! Just need to head back w/o my wife & kids to put your ides to the test. Caught fish every AM wading @ Sunburst, long before the teen daughters & wife rolled out of the camper.
  7. Just got back from the NFoW. There are Lots of big stripers in the trout water, but I can’t seem to catch them consistently even when I know we’re they are. Any tips in hard baits & hair jigs for them. Can’t use plastics or live bait legally where most of them are.
  8. Earth city is just levied Missouri River flood plain. Lots of water inside that levy too. Levy’s hold water out, and in sometimes.
  9. Floods are worse today. Saw a couple new warehouses going in next to the Marsh @ Creve Couer Lake.
  10. I do feel sorry for the folks affected, but they bear most of the responsibility for choosing to locate themselves in the flood plain. You know we’re its going to flood if you’ve lived in STL for any time at all. Chesterfield Valley was under water in 93 when the levee breached. All those new malls were built since then.
  11. I wouldn’t drive out of my way to visit either but I live within two miles of both. Lots of flooding in Brentwood down by FC today, and I’m sure it flooded over by Trainwreck Saloon to. It’s been a mess with construction on that section of Manchester and I’m sure it’s a much bigger one now.
  12. Glad it’s working out for you! It sounds like a grand adventure!
  13. I like available replacement tips for fly rods I take trips with. Your not gonna get a new tip while your out fishing. That might take months.
  14. MDC won’t do a thing. They are are PR organization at best now. Elk, bike trails, and sunflower fields are what the are selling right now, while all the stuff they bought & built goes unmaintained and turns to crap.
  15. I like my 10’ 4pc 5wt Sage Z-Axis, I like it so much it has 3 tips. I have no idea what is currently on the market, but it will Chuck heavy nymph rigs and hook fish at 60-70’ if you can control your drift at that range.
  16. Your gonna have to stock those Gen 1 bastard bass continuously to see any difference. The traits will just disappear in Gen 2, & 3 as they mix with a lake full of free no cost Northern Largemouth. There will likely be no benefit, unless your employed to run the fish hatchery.
  17. Ha, your not likely to see a bear in Canada, the undergrowth in the bush is so thick you will smell them first. The same with Moose. A bear or mooose guides first priority is to make sure the client has a close shot in spot we’re the can get the animal out easy. Thinking Ice out or Labor Day timeframe. My friend John Walker and me had some great fishing on Labor Day on the Saugeen, near Fergus, Ont. Smallmouth eating hex spinners. Some big trout options on the Grand River in Fergus. Musky, smallies, too. Ken Collins at Troutfitters is the man for that one. Hour and a half out of Detroit.
  18. https://canoecanada.com/ Here's another good one. Some friends have done a few of the outpost cabins and used Quetico Wilderness trips.
  19. https://campquetico.ca/ This place has boats staged on 40 Lakes within an hour of the lodge. They are nice folks. Cabins were clean, food was good, boats & motors work, and their prices are reasonable. Lots of the MSA guys go up there. About an hour and twenty from International Falls.
  20. My passport is up to date is yours?
  21. You could do a moose or bear hunt through Quetico as well.
  22. Camp Quetico in Atikokan, CA. Reasonable rates, you won’t need to tow a boat up. Abuse their boats on that pink granite. Portable fish finder would be helpful. Every boat comes with a fish fryer and a gallon of cooking oil.
  23. The Au Sable & Manistee around Grayling, MI would suit you CW. I have not been up there in awhile but a reunion with those Jack Pine Savages is in the works for next year during the hex hatch. You should come up and I’ll introduce you to those bastards. Maybe a couple days above da bridge to chase big brookies in da Yoop.
  24. It’s only 100lbs of aluminum!
  25. Almost twice what I paid for mine. Blazer will probably build you one for less.
