  1. Most who float....have no clue.....if they stick around awhile they gain a conservation ethic. Most wont...Glad to see that the outfitters in the area bucked up...I'm sure they know his name by now....I do....Hope they 86 him for life...MDC cant yank his privilege for that long.
  2. More chicken poop, cows, and....fracking....its good for everyone;>)!
  3. My canoes...sit on a rack I built off of my backyard shed....Covered storage for my travel trailer in town...$600 a year.
  4. Good on you Paul! Hope that jackwagon gets his privileges yanked for a couple years.
  5. That's a trip you will remember, LOL! Glad you had fun!
  6. Looks perfect for a long cast with a topwater. Glad you both had fun.
  7. Very jealous! Looks like a great time.
  8. We need more cows in the river anyway.
  9. Lots of small bass & Goggs.
  10. A buddy of mine sent me this last week...looks like a cheaper way to make a jika rig.
  11. Nice setup JD...
  12. Great report. Don't be disappointed. Baptist to Akers is usually the best fishing on that stretch...Akers to Pulltite..Great float, but lousy fishing. I don't even bring a rod for that float anymore, the fishing picks up a bit below Pulltite, but it doesn't get good until you get below Round spring.
  13. http://www.interior.gov/americasgreatoutdoors/whatwedo/rivers/national-blueways-system.cfm From what I've read on the Department of the Interior's site...Blueway designation doesn't do much of anything.
  14. There's a canoe rental under the 67 bridge...Cherokee Landing...nice folks....if you need a shuttle or a good place to park your vehicle. Lots of leadmine tailings in the water....don't eat anything.
  15. Great shots! Glad you had a good time!
  16. My reels get wet all the time. I usually don't do anything with them in the warm months, unless they accumulated some grit. Inspect and lube them if need be in the winter time.
  17. Britt has been known to find them...Big poppers that imitate the Annual Cicada.
  18. Britt Stoudenmire.....New River Outfitters...Booked him for a program with Ozark Fly Fishers years ago...Nice guy, very knowledgeable...with flies or gear.
  19. I'd add some kastmaster spoons to you kit as well. Here's a nice article that covers the basics. http://www.missouritrouthunter.com/LureFishing.htm
  20. Here's the new gate at Dawt....They have made a ton of changes in the past couple of years. New bar, restaurant, and they aren't done yet. The Rueben wasn't bad, but the service left allot to be desired. We did see a fellow portage the dam on river right while we were there..so it its doable.
  21. That's a steal....good eye Larry,Good for you!
  22. He culled a fish...broke a rule...DQ'd....Out some $$$ for the weekend. Doesn't sound like anything dishonest...Move on.
  23. Pics! and descriptions... No interest myself. Unless you have stuff I collect. Would be glad to give you some idea of market value.
  24. The other concept is what I call a controlled drift...move your elbow back and up after the stop on your backcast...cock your lever like your are throwing a spear...pull through and stop. It will sail..pull with your bottom hand if using a two handed cast...but make sure you have firm stops.
  25. Casting is basic physics....Load your lever...You want to make a firm stop on your back cast to load the rod, then pull the rod through the fulcrum point to a firm stop on your forward...Its the same with a baitcaster, spinner, or fly rod...Lots of folks go overboard and try to push their forward cast (move the fulcrum forward) in hopes for distance...That does not work. You cant push on one end of a piece of spaghetti and make it move much, but you can yank on one end and send it across the room. Pull, not push, load your rod. Practice on a pond. Good luck.
