  1. Buzzers rock...I carry 3 kinds...standard, triple blade, and double buzzers...you can tune em up a bit if its too quiet...pull the blade, file a notch in the rivet, enlarge the back hole on the blade...reinstall blade, rebend the wire and crimp the rivet...paint rivet red. Good Luck.
  2. Low water and bright moon...all night long...plus last nights cold front.....might have made for for some funky fishing today. Check your email Mr. Bigs...you too Mitch.
  3. Beats work! Sounds like a nice time.
  4. The Big Piney is a great river and the float we did had some awesome scenery. Unfortunately the fishing wasnt up to par when compared with every other stretch that I've fished on that river. If your thinking lower...I'd float from were we took out down to the Gasconade during the week..Its semi urban fishing, houses, 1 rail bridge, and 3 highway bridges, but there is some pretty cool scenery on that float. . Good luck.
  5. I understand your passion...but the fellow was pretty clear that he didnt want a debate on his company website...You kept going at him, and he booted you..I would have done the same thing.
  6. If your looking at this map..we put in at 66.8 and took out around mile 78. Good luck. http://www.missouricanoe.org/river-maps/piney.html
  7. Heard a rumor that MDC is raising mountain lions on it...and feeding them elk from Kentucky :>)! Hasnt crossed my mind in awhile. Will ask around when were down that way in a couple of weeks.
  8. I dont think that the line size matters much with big obnoxious baits, or with offerings that you fish agressively. Its a different story for small passive presentations where the fish can get a good long look.
  9. There will probably be a few boats out between Greer and Turner...but it doesnt get that bad till you get down near Whitten...Think they had a dozen trailers parked at Whitten when my wife and I made the mistake of floating Greer down to Whitten on Memorial Day weekend several years ago.
  10. We watched half of the first one...and decided not to waste our time with that trash. Weak script and a bunch of unredeeming characters, IMO.
  11. Think the subspecies of Elk that was native to Missouri...is extinct...Re-introduction of Rocky Mountain Elk? Wrong word and the unit cost has been very high...Shooting one...c'mon...who's freezer...Politico or Conservation Management?
  12. I still have 1 Wee Craw...Found it in a corner of the basement while doing some plumbing earlier today.Looks unfished. Free to the first one who wants it. Claim it and PM me with your addy. Hey Coldwater...pools open....bring the fam by after 1pm if you want...BYO everything.
  13. Plenty of desperate people out there right now. I've had my car broken into a couple times...and once in my driveway...My wife had somebody toss her car last week..she left it out and unlocked in the drive with a nice bike on the back. Figure the bike attracted them....They got some change and a phone charger cuz the bike and rack were locked up... Probably the same folks who tossed my car last year.. Figure they prowl a route regularly and look in cars for things of value and unlocked doors.... Leave nothing for those degenerates.
  14. What are soft plastics? I hear folks do well on them. LOL! Summer is hear and the time is right for ripping and topwater...Think I'll rig my 7wt with a popper this weekend...probably wont get changed till its wore out...rest of the rods have been rigged for a month or so....Think I'll a re-tie with same same.
  15. Nice report...youll lose fewer fish on that wee craw if you upsize those tiny hooks...Take the front hook off and replace the back hook with a #8...add a split shot a couple inches in front of the lure to make it sink or suspend.
  16. Welcome home Al..Glad you had a great day on the river.
  17. Pick up Ozark Whitewater by Tom Kennon... http://www.amazon.com/dp/0897325214/ref=rdr_ext_tmb
  18. Skid plates...run $80 or so....put that money towards a good paddle...Wood Single blade...something that will touch your chin...The yak paddle wont get used much after you figure out how to use a single blade with a solo canoe...going upstream...yep...down river..nope.
  19. 28 is a bunch to feed on a gravel bar...Here's a couple cheap quick meals that work well with a big group..Pulled Pork...smoke it ahead of time, pull & freeze in 2 gallon ziplocks...reheat in an aluminum pan with some liquid & bbq sauce...Soup or Chili...make ahead, freeze in 2 gallon zip locks, reheat. Bring a big stock pot...after day 2 you will probably be limited to pasta, rice, oatmeal, dehydrated meals and add water type stuff unless you catch some fish to eat. If your bringing fresh meat...vac pack it so it wont get soggy in your cooler..Separate cooler for food and beverages. Block Ice and drain it if you want to keep ice alive longer. Have fun...sounds like a blast.
  20. Music is where you find it....Kinda like the Gourds version of Snoop Dog's Gin & Juice.
  21. You can toss a cast net or catch craws if you want. Craws are very abundant. The fishing is usually better on the second half of that float (Pulltite to Round Spring) but you might do ok during the week. The water is still pretty cold...so we usually do better with plastics on the bottom...sometimes a Zoom Fluke.
  22. Nice catch and great work with the knife!
  23. $50 isnt bad for 3 boats...Akers Ferry will charge you $55 or so to move a vehicle from Cedar to Akers. Glad you had a nice trip.
  24. Might talk to Justin @ Sunburst Ranch on the North Fork of the White...see if he can get you to the Bryant or upper North Fork on Friday..the Bryant doesnt get much traffic and its one ridge over from the North Fork.. The Eleven Point would be a good option as well. It doesnt get the volume of doofus rental boaters that you will find on the Huzz/Courois/Meramec/Niangua/Jack's/Current/& Black.. but you will have some jet boaters to contend with. Brian Sloss at Eleven Point canoe would be the person to call for that one. We are in a bit of a drought right now...water levels may limit your choices.
  25. Its first come, first served...and the sites are level and it doesnt seem to get very crowded. Should be able to get something on a Wednesday or Thursday AM.
