  1. Had allot of good times at Willmore Park. Lots of frisbee, and hacky sack games there. Frisbee is probably still a go, but hacky sack is out of the picture. Chlorine in tap water...will kill just about anything..
  2. At least you are calling some. Tough to hunt em and frustrating. The mental dissection/figuring what you did wrong yesterday is half of the fun. No good at it, but I kill some dumb ducks that fly too close on occasion. Should kill more of them....need to head to they eye doc and bust some clays.
  3. You will have a better year! It is all UPSIDE starting NOW! You have many blessings! Tell yourself that several times a day. Helps me to get out when I get in a bad funk. MF to deal with depression, but keep on keeping on!
  4. Permits are not required to dispatch nuisance wildlife.
  5. We had a serious HATE going on with the introduced Otters 20-30 years ago....They Screwed up ALLOT of good fishing! Their population appears to have leveled out, established some form of equilibrium, or we just got used to suckier fishing. I don't see as many Otter slides or Otters...So hope they died out. Nasty creatures. CO's had no issue with killing Otters at that time....It was what it was.

    What's Cooking?

Food disasters do happen! Chicken Marsala is basically chicken with gravy and a hint of wine. Mac & Cheese is a bechamel sauce with cheddar cheese. Kraft from the box is the crowd pleaser. Try to top it, bet you can’t. Both sauces require a light flour and butter roux. 50/50 proportions. Gumbo is flour and oil with same proportions, but don’t burn it. Should look like a dirty penny when that roux is done.
  7. There was a trout hatchery on Heads Creek off of Big River years ago. Across 30 by the trailer park. Creek dumps in at Rockford Beach.
  8. The St Louis Hatchery is in Forest Park, north side. It’s full of stunted sunfish, big bass, and catfish. MDC uses it for scout troop and grade school class intro to fishing days.
  9. I think you were friends with Hank, at least knew each other Mitch....Loved his Bushmills and Earl Gray Tea. His 9MM was passed to an equally crazy bastard....Not me, but a very good friend of mine, and someone you know.
  10. Not discounting your story QB, you can die from Covid. Don’t add to the hysteria. Figure that .75 die every year on average if folks live to 75 on average. Just be careful and don’t add to the nonsense.
  11. Please pass along more friend of a friend stories. That is exactly what need.
  12. Are the wild goats still in residence on the Jacks Fork? Feral domestic goats would be a better description. Some feral horses in that area too. Mountain lions, bears, mountain goats, deer, wild horses! Be careful out there! Grandpa Harold had a Mountain Goat head on his wall of bad taxidermy. Think his guides busted posterior for 2 days to haul it out.
  13. Bang some dead!
  14. Think the first MO Trout Hatchery was in Aurora, MO and it was private, post civil war era. The US Fish Commission was formed in that era as well and they got into the business of distributing trout and “pacific salmon” all over the place. Some lived, some did not. Not sure how long Neosho has been in business, but 1890-1920 seems about right. 1940’s pre WW2 CCC buildings are abundant around the trout parks, so something was there before.
  15. Broke a nice wooden paddle across an otters back years ago. Statute has run. My late friend Hank R just killed every one he ever saw with his 9mm. He was kinda scary when he got that out! 15 round clip. Pulled the trigger till it went click every time he got it out within 2-3 seconds!
  16. Just ask your doctor....Looking to social media and the news for medical advice is complete nonsense. The opinion is worth what you paid for it.
  17. I've heard that Otters will just thrill kill at times and let it go to waste. Usually in the cold of winter when the females are pregnant. MO Trappers Assoc said they do that before the young are born. An Otter is a nasty creature to begin with (A hair shy of a honey badger). A pregnant and hungry one has gotta be off the chart!
  18. Eagles will snatch a crippled duck, or released fish in nothing flat. Have seen them attack seagulls and pelicans for fish on the Mississippi and MO when it freezes. Likely not this year.
  19. Guess you have never been to Alaska....The bald eagle is a glorified vulture that prefers ripe carrion. They like their fish rotten and aged.
  20. Otter scat piles are FULL of crawfish. Stripers like crawfish better than trout, I think. I've gutted two stripers from the NFoW, and full of craw. Caught both of those on shad colored jerkbaits (4"-5" suspenders). Good eats!
  21. Ray Krouscoup was a hoot. He used to tie all the Don's Crawdad's for Hargrove's shop. Not sure if anyone ties those now.
  22. Mailbox is empty now.
  23. Otter was good last weekend, but I'm done for the year. Putting the decoys away this weekend. Up north is thick ice by all accounts. Bring a chainsaw to carve a hole. Might get out again if I can find a spot to shoot some Canada's or specks.
  24. Forest Park is usually the best urban trout lake and Busch is popular. Local ponds are ice free at the moment, but full of wintering Canada Geese. Hop on I-44 and go fish around Rolla. Perfect time to float the blue ribbon trout streams and camp on the river. Might get snow on Thursday to make it MO better. Meramec Spring is popular day trip.

    What's Cooking?

Was wondering what da heck is that? Cruised by several STLCO restaurant customers tonight cuz dine in is now an option. Just wanted to confirm what they tell me. Most just doing pick up and delivery still. Think you will never dine in at fast food place again. They are killing it w/o the seating. As always, We are the Feckarewes!
