  1. Kiddo's class was gonna sing the anthem at the stadium today. They said 3 hr rain delay...We pulled out with 5 other couples with a bunch kids to hit Mission Taco Joint in Soulard. Guessing 12-15 kids ....Then rolled on back home and the party continued. We have some great folks in this neighborhood. Fork Sports...We all agreed that we do not care about the Cardinals or the Blues.....All busy people...Slackers might have time to care about that useless BS. Best game ever...Bought a ticket, left...did not see any baseball. .life happened. perfect!
  2. Submerged rocks are the real hazard on the JF. Particularly on the Prongs to Buck stretch. Prongs is worth the trip. Rather sporty. One big culvert pipe to run not far below the access. That river floods quickly. The ground is soggy and rain in the forecast, would go elsewhere.
  3. That's a pretty stretch. Jam Up Cave is the most significant feature on that stretch, you will want to spend some time there.. 300 cfs on the Mountain View gauge is a great level..Its running at twice that volume now. Hope it dries out a bit before your trip.
  4. Harvey's Alley Spring Canoe Rental..Leave your vehicles in their lot and have them drop you off at Buck Hollow.
  5. Real men don’t give a stink about what they look like. The tacky face buff/rag is pretty nice at times. An essential if guiding flats in FL. Remove it if approaching someone you do not know. Common Courtesy.
  6. Don’t use a spincast reel. That is for kids gut hooking bluegill and forked stick catfish. It does not do anything well. Save up for a good medium action spinning setup. $70-100 in the reel. Same in rod. You will like better.
  7. Would focus on the eats and the culture. Go out to dinner and get suggestions from the folks you meet and like while there. Rarely time to fish on an out of town work related trip. 10-12hr days are the norm. Gotta get as much done as possible when face to face.

    What's Cooking?

Out to Sushi after a grade school event. Youngest loves Udon, Oldest wanted a roll, Wife got chefs choice over rice, I got nigiri traditional. 8-12 pc of what I like. All happy.
  9. I’ll float below Jerome midweek. Never, Friday-Sunday.
  10. Nice, even for Canada! You have it dialed that is for sure.
  11. Sounds like fun! Girls had fun at Dry Run a couple years ago, need to take them back before they are too old.
  12. Lots of newby kayakers are relaxed and oblivious.
  13. Paddle craft & motor boats rarely work well together. Both groups have to be extra careful. Don’t block the channel if you here a boat coming.
  14. Pete and I talked. Gonna reschedule this to include more members. Pete suggested a 3pm-5pm happy hour on a weekday other than Friday so folks with early weekend plans, and those with inflexible schedules could attend. It was a great suggestion. Think same venue,, but Wednesday or Thursday next week. Sorry to disappoint those who committed. Will meet those who committed on Friday if you can’t make it next week. Small bunch, so thinking Nudo House (Vietnamese), or Gioia’s West(James Beard Award sandwich shop). Both off Olive east of 270.
  15. His privates are probably in the shade. Bet his belly sticks out more than his dickydoo.
  16. Have one but wore it only once. I don’t mind sunscreen on my face, ears, hands.. Long sleeves, long pants, and a broad brimmed hat is my preference.
  17. So what, it's just someone's obese pet.
  18. You can find them all over. Prefer to find them in areas that don’t flood cuz they are not full off sand.
  19. Pete (snagged in 3) and me plan to meet for lunch at west county Syberg’s at noon next Friday (270& Dorsett). Open to all. RSVP by Thursday PM so I can get a head count.
  20. I find them on the ground. Finding the first one is usually the hardest part. Different taste that’s for sure. Wife found some Saturday, picked a bunch more today in Dent County.
  21. Would not click on the spammers link, post 1, but camping gear review is a good topic. Tents, any that does not leak. Have had good luck with Mountain Hardware, and current Sierra Designs is good. Bags, -20 Feathered Friends Down Bag is going on 15 years and good as new. Has kept me warm on 15 years of Winter Float Trips, plus a great blanket on family trips. Thickest self inflating pad that does not leak if winter camping. Current is a 3.5” from REI. Gonna go with a Jacks Plastic’s Silverback next time.
  22. There is a place in Webster Groves---Old Mountains Gear Exchange...Good deals to be had there.
  23. Always tons of snails in spring branches. The trout will eat them.
  24. Fishing usually sucks this time of year, figure most of them are still down on the Current.
  25. There is a culvert pipe to paddle through right below Prongs. Would drag over that if it looks dicey. Submerged rocks are the biggest hazard on the JF. It gets floated allot in the spring so most of the strainers get sawed out by the canoe rentals.
