  1. Would not click on the spammers link, post 1, but camping gear review is a good topic. Tents, any that does not leak. Have had good luck with Mountain Hardware, and current Sierra Designs is good. Bags, -20 Feathered Friends Down Bag is going on 15 years and good as new. Has kept me warm on 15 years of Winter Float Trips, plus a great blanket on family trips. Thickest self inflating pad that does not leak if winter camping. Current is a 3.5” from REI. Gonna go with a Jacks Plastic’s Silverback next time.
  2. There is a place in Webster Groves---Old Mountains Gear Exchange...Good deals to be had there.
  3. Always tons of snails in spring branches. The trout will eat them.
  4. Fishing usually sucks this time of year, figure most of them are still down on the Current.
  5. There is a culvert pipe to paddle through right below Prongs. Would drag over that if it looks dicey. Submerged rocks are the biggest hazard on the JF. It gets floated allot in the spring so most of the strainers get sawed out by the canoe rentals.
  6. Good move. Good customer service starts with good customer selection, realistic expectations, and defined prices. If not what you want to do send down the street with no referal. Still looking for a good 5hp 2 Stroke if you find one.

    What's Cooking?

A little SBS on the Caesar dressing. The basic one is from bon appetit, but this is how I do.

    What's Cooking?

Been to busy to cook but doing some today. Found a great deal on some bone in pork loin. $13 for this mess. 6 double bone chops and 1.5lbs for pork & beans. Rib eyes, Brussels and Caesar salad with homemade dressing for dinner. Dressing with raw egg and anchovy.
  9. We had allot of fun there...Would go back again. Lots of uncrowded trout water up there.
  10. Decorah is an awesome town! Towed the house on wheels through there last year. The walking/biking trails are great. Trout everywhere. Good food, Toppling Goliath Micro Brewery, Pikes peak on the Mississippi, Ruby’s Cafe with crab cakes eggs Benedict and the iconic 1lb “Ronnie’s” cinnamon roll. Trout hatchery with brook, brown, and rainbow. Nordic fest, plus great garden gnomes. The folks across da river from the Whippy Dip (north) have the best gnomes. On your left but not far. Ooofta!
  11. Max from Hargrove’s just moved to Craig for the Summer. Give him a shout, I'm sure he would give you some good info.
  12. No public access at Blackwell. The 21 Boat Ramp to the beach in Washington SP is about 3-4 miles and its a super quick shuttle. The park outfitter does that float once or twice a day, Fishing is hit or miss, but it can be good occasionally.
  13. Talked with a buddy this evening regarding ducks. Says he slices diver duck into thin strips and uses as a repaclement for clam in clam chowder. His guests said great. Dude can cook though. Did buy 2 dozen mallard decoys. Rigged a dozen with 4oz Texas rigs, thinking heavier weights for next batch. What do you all use? Thinking about adding a few more decoys for river hunts. Woodies maybe?
  14. Blazer deals throught Troutt & Sons near Cuba and Earnie's Sales in Ellington.
  15. Blazer Boats in Ellington will build one for you. I have one, but not for sale. Few escape the Lebanon, MO area.
  16. There are plenty of gar in the upper Jacks in the spring. I don’t target them but you will see them. The water is very clear. The Jacks starts late and ends early. Usually slow fishing until May, and done by the end of September.
  17. Plenty of gar on the Jacks Fork, not so much on the upper Current. Have caught chain pickerel on the Current but rarely above Welch Spring. The Eleven Point is allot better for chain pickeral.
  18. Would not mind if you could kill all no limit on spotted bass. They are not native, kiil all of them. Might put a dent in the LM population until the spots are eliminated. Most can’t tell the difference between a Smallmouth, largemouth, spotted bass, or a spot/smallie hybrid. Fillet all your legal spots and release your crappie. The Crappie will grow to 15” allot faster. Rare for a spot to top 15” on the rivers I fish. Have caught a few in the 17” range, but I want 20+ Smallmouth.
  19. You can get a $7500 plug in electric vehicle tax credit for your Tesla. Did 2 today. Can get more if you install a charger. Not refundable. If you don’t pay tax you won’t get any. My high end is all over electric cars and energy credits. HVAC improvements, windows & such, solar panels. They have others if a vehicle is delayed in service.
  20. It peaked around 4.5 and its already back down to 3.0 at Akers. You should be good to go.
  21. Who is against cleaner and cheaper energy, energy efficiency, and less trash? My high end tax customers are all going solar, led, Tesla, car charging stations. Would not mind a Tesla for a grocery getter. Wicked fast acceleration and fun to drive.
  22. Wow! Good for your buddy.
  23. No duck would come near that outhouse!😁 Crome dome, dog, and flag., LOL!
  24. Looking at a portable panel blinds that could work on shore or staked in water. Any favorites?
  25. Old school! Mine just texts it at 5:30 or 6pm, with kiddo pickup schedule.
