The steam gauge @ Newburg says 131cfs. A tad low to float but it should be in good shape. Would call the USFS to verify the status of the CG. That creek flash floods but it comes down just as fast.
Good for you! Been to several of the places you mentioned an it brings back some great memories! Alaskan weather always seems to be fickle, had many trips canxed due to weather. Sounds like a good trip and thanks for the report!
Nice article in the STLPD about the West Fork this weekend.

Scary when you think about it.
It's a little wide in comparison to a dedicated solo but should paddle just fine. Have no problems soloing a 17' tandem, you just need to learn how to do it. Think my solo is 14'8" and maybe 30" wide. Paddles a lot better than the 17'x36" tandem freighter, but it is no big deal to paddle either. Will get you downriver just fine. Grab it if the price is right. Can always sell it on craigslist and get a good price for it.
I agree. Should be a great solo camping boat, or a day trip tandem canoe. You would be better suited with 17' pack mule type canoe for tandem overnights with lots of gear.
Hate all you want. Not my go to bait but it works really well. Something about that elaztec plastic. It lasts and works better than a senko our other older plastics.
Kinda a high & muddy thing with the rattle traps and red eye shads? Never had much luck with them when low and clear, plus they get hung a bit more than I like. Always have a few though.
Pick the fly rod that feels the best to you. Sage makes some nice rods, so does Orvis, Winston, St. Croix, etc. and all have pretty good warranty service. You have allot to choose from. Though I'd probably go 9' in 6wt & up.
.
Mornings seem to be inconsistent, but mid-day & dusk seem to be consistent times. Most of my better fish have been caught in the mid-afternoon usually between noon & 4pm.
Found Weeks Hollow on a topi map. Looks like its a couple miles up from the confluence with the Big Piney just below Mossy Spring. Kinda explains all the moss on the bottom.
Did one a few years ago. Catch, photo, release. Just had to snap a pic on a bump board with that months identifier in the pic. Standings based on biggest fish that month. Could be easily done with a daily identifier and total length format for a bigger event.
Great guy. He will be missed. Met him a couple times when he funded a conservation organization that I used to audit. Very nice man and a true conservationist. His legacy is a benefit to all.
Think they still weigh fish after tossing them on a bump board. Figure a measurement is enough, but measure, weigh, and release is better than bouncing fish around in a live well all day long.
Nice looking stuff. Used to cook and run the line at an Italian place on Friday & Saturday. Taught me to cook, use a knife, and many other skills. Chief your noodles under you hamburger helper look dry. Finish those noodles with some sauce before you add the glop next time;). My wife makes it that way too.
Doug runs his jet down there when it's legal in the fall. Not the best way to fish it but he does what he does. Good angler, but he likes running that jet a lot more than paddling.
I only took the boat and a paddle. Did not need the transport accessories because I have plenty. Have a Yakima rack with double and single bars, 4 towers, and 8 load stops that I'd get rid of cheap if interested. Don't use it. Used it on my old Jeep. But no need for it after I figured out a good rack system for my truck.
