  1. My wife likes her 12’ Jackson Coosa allot. She enjoys all the comforts of floating it and never has to load that heavy SOB on the truck. It’s fine to tie in a truckbed. Loading high above the bed on my ladder rack is a chore. Uneven weight distribution. Takes 3 steps to load OYO, or another grown man to help, then strap. My canoes go on the racks in one step OYO, maybe 15 seconds to load, then strap. Canoe prices have gone through the roof. Kayaks are cheaper now. Used to pick up used royalex canoes for $300 a pop. Bought & sold em for $500. Most are asking $900 for used royalex now.
  2. I have a 12’ fishing kayak, 15’ solo canoe, and a 17’ foot tandem. Not sure about storage on the pescador. It’s an old design, one of the first SOT’s but a good boat (Old WS Tarpon 120). You would really have to pack light to do a 3 day trip but overnight is fine. You won’t have room for a big cooler and a 30 pack of beer. Would not want a solo canoe under 14’ long. I had a Disco 119 and don’t miss it. I like my 15’ Mad River allot better than the Wenonah Vagabond I used to have. It’s a fiberglass model from the mid 1980’s. Great paddling boat.
  3. Easy to make fun of the park opener. Will always remember my dad tumbling down the high bank a Meramec near the bridge with the tackle box that contained all that we owned at the time. 45 ish something years ago. We did not even have waders, but had limits on rooster tails and salmon eggs.
  4. Look great! Don’t want to respool thread though. Hardly tie anymore, but how much for a dozen?
  5. Awesome! Good for you!
  6. Anvil serrated scissors wil do the job well. Blue dipped handles. Available at any fly shop.
  7. You will enjoy your truck. Add a gold star sticker to your man card! Tundra’s can tow pretty well, could hitch tow a 18-24” camper behind that easy. Buy a used camper. Would love to shoot more ducks next year.
  8. Congrats on the new to you truck! Once you have a good one it is easy to trade up. Keep your screen name you own it Would like to shoot more ducks next year.
  9. Will fish it occasionally for brown trout & smallmouth but would not call it destination water. Good fall back if the Gasconade turns to mud.
  10. I like to eat teal, mallards, and wood duck on the grill. The rest are gumbo or jerky ducks. Coot isn’t bad. Have eaten crow, but never crow protein.
  11. The KVD hooks are fine and you can find them at Walmart.
  12. Thanks, just want to do some hunting next year. My buddy is looking for a club membership, but I can’t see paying 6-8k to not shoot ducks in STC 10-18 times a year. Spent the weekend in Augusta. Lots of snows & specks in that area.
  13. Shrimp in the surf will catch a pile of saltwater catfish. Floridians think they are trash fish but they taste just like catfish.
  14. I suck at duck hunting but would like to go more and learn. Pretty good at river fishing and have lots of shallow water boats. Will trade a float trip this summer for a duck hunt next fall.
  15. Will give you $5 for it if you pay shipping.
  16. Lots of boats! PPT is pretty cheap around LOZ. We pay allot more on less value in St Louis County. Working on a customers books now, 400k boat on LOZ, might pay 2k in ppt. Not sure which county but it’s near the mouth of the Gravois arm.
  17. I don’t have 4 motorized boats., but the count is 6. Paddlejon, tandem canoe, solo canoe. SOT fishing kayak, 2 8’ kiddo kayaks. 11yr old girl is over 5’ tall. Will probably get her a 12’ kayak for her B Day in May.. Think will keep the 8’ SOT’s for awhile. The neighborhood kids like to paddle & race them in our pool.
  18. Yep. Sold a bamboo fly rod that I made from scratch to my buddy Roy once. Probably the best one I ever made or will make anytime soon (No time for that now with young kids), Got lucky. Roy died 10-12yrs ago. My buddy Joe deals in bamboo, antique fishing tackle, for sale on eBay. He found it, and I got it back. Caught some brooks and browns with it in Iowa last summer. Only other boo out of the stable was a gift to my best man. Nice 8’ 6-7wt.
  19. That Ghleenoe would run down river like a bad posterior on bigger river sections too! Heck with paddling! Can’t believe that someone has not snatched it up.
  20. Think I’d prefer a Yamaha 5-6hp 2 stroke. The 55tm runs up 3-4 miles easy but it’s a slow ride and drains the battery hard. It runs great down river. Did 20 miles on the G Nade in 24 hours. Put on at 4pm Friday, fished till dark, camped, fished. Ran out of river! Pulled out at 4pm Friday. We planned for two nights. Need a longer down river float next time.
  21. 10’ is rather short. A 12’ will track & float shallower. Do get one with the comfy detachable lawn chair. Jackson makes some great boats, but they go fast on the used market. Lots of good SOT’s too choose from. You will probably like it so don’t go cheap.
  22. Nice! Have never fished your water, but close is better than far. Fish for trout in low light often. Always have better luck an hour before sunrise until light hits the water. The dusk bite can be good, our hour after.
  23. Have a 17’ paddle Jon and a 55tm. Works well. FW, Now you know. Give me a hollar if you find one. Might have to haul down and “test” it on the boat. The 7.5 would probably work if willing to separate from the gheenoe.
  24. You could get a light boat with a TM or small outboard on anywhere. Would like to head to Sunburst in the spring and looking for a 5hp outboard.
  25. 1747 on the title...There is also a 2047 model.
