Proposed Striper Stocking On Hold
Feathers and Fins replied to Champ188's topic in Lower Bull Shoals
I think it was more than 4 at one time I cant tell you how many 8 to 12 pound fish i caught from it and other So-Cal lakes. There is no arguement that can be made that would not support striper stocking other than BASS fishermen not wanting it based on some myths or stories. ALL the Science proves they would not harm the LMB population and in fact could actualy help it. But people will never listen to the science when they think their and that is " their" in quotation Bass might be harmed. Who cares it would boost the economy and help the lake my bass might get ate by the big bad striper. -
First question I would ask is for MDC to provide the Elks Collar Data as to where at had been roaming for that matter why not do what they did with the ducks and just put the info on the web?
-
Its AGFC and I am curious that if one of the Elk crossed the border what would be the Policy for both departments, I doubt AGFC would want MDC to come to Arkansas and Kill an animal for crossing the border. AGFC has shown they want the Elk in AR to spread out and repopulate the Ozarks. I know where a few Elk are that are a long way from Ponca and pretty neat seeing them, I would have a hard time beleiving AGFC doesnt know they are there kinda big and hard animals to miss. Heck i wonder if it wouldnt be a crime for MDC to cross the border and shoot one even.

I would love to see the Elk in Questions Radio Collar data to show us where exactly this Elk roamed around to. I noticed it was shot very close to AR, I wonder what the Policy of MDC would be if the animals actually cross the border?

Boat Size From Housemean To Holiday Island
Feathers and Fins replied to Champster's topic in Beaver Lake
Holiday to Houseman is a pretty safe run so you should be ok.... Shad in the river I would be keeping a very close eye on generations and get the shad when they get stunned.... Keeping shad alive all night without a big 500g tank might be very hard unless they are good gizzards then possibly... Drive time from Holiday to the dam depending how you drive is 20 to 30 minutes..... Getting shad at night on Beaver is doable I usually check long points and creek mouths and never pass up a mud flat as thats where most the big gizzards will be. Have fun -

Feathers and Fins replied to Jerry Rapp's topic in General Angling Discussion
I dont blame anyone... I think PAUL was messing around with the weather is all. -

Boat Size From Housemean To Holiday Island
Feathers and Fins replied to Champster's topic in Beaver Lake
I Launch my Tracker 190 at houseman and run up to 62 bridge. You better know the shoals and bars though. -
So what will happen when the Elk decide to migrate. Pecks is nowhere near the size of the National Elk Refuge.! Is MDC just going ot kil them off? If that is the case ten why was this project undertaken? Only two solutions I see possible... Allow the animals to roam without killing them or HIGH FENCE the park and make it a zoo. If they are going to enforce shooting ( problem andimals ) then shoot them all now and be done with it.

Shad will be the #1 bait, #2 Blue Gill #3 night crawlers ( the crawlers will produce walleye and maybe a striper ) Beaver has been realy kicking out some great walleye. Get you shad as Stump said. I havent been out all week so im not sure what is happening but thats the best advise i can give right now. If you want trout on the white I would try running Shad Raps that dive to 15ft on the first bend east of Houseman access ( thats heading back to tablerock) also you may pick up a walleye there as well. good luck
-
Stripers are scattered bad right now. Target the Island at Starky, Point 3 and Indian Creek. I would be setting baits at 15 to 25 ft in the early AM and as the sun got higher i would set baits from 25 to 40 and drift as much as possible without the big motor being n.

Here is a solution. You may not be able to BAN them but if you were to say petition for a the area from 65 bridge to the Special regulation area of NO WAKE and no boats allowed in THE SPECIAL REG AREA you would have a better chance at success.

There are tons of Walleye in the shallows if you hit the right day and times. Early morning, Late evening on a real windy day with chop on stained water. Remember I was posting about getting them in 4' to 8' ft of water earlier this years in the middle of the day. But there was either Cloud cover or Wind Chopped water stained up. I think to many people over look shallow water eyes and the ones in shallow were the bigger size fish.

Then contact SPRO directly and notify them of this person and send them the e-mails. They may react very fast. -

Stone; this is threatening and as a bussiness man had I recieved this I would have booted you as well and your threats could and would provoke me into possibly contacting our legal department for possible liable and or slander. I could go on with the red, but honestly from that E-Mail to him you come off as a hot head. I have had people do this to me as well and simply remove them from my life be it internet or real life. This is NOT imo a customer service issue as there was not mechandise involved. -

Stone, it sounds like you are on a personal crusade against (Catch and Keep) and re-reading the e-mails I too am left wondering if there was not a few left out. Why should you care what a company’s stance is or is not in regards to (Catch and release or Catch and Keep) It would be counterproductive for any company to come out either way was as it could alienate themselves from potential customers. Where as Supporting the laws does not affect their profit. Many anglers I know catch and release and catch and keep! Should I decide to not be one persons friend simply based off what their wants are so long as they are ethical and legal? A tackle manufactures business is to make a profit off selling lures designed to catch fish! What an angler does after that is not the Business’s bossiness. It is the choice of the individual angler. -

Sounds to me they support both C&R anf C&K. Looks like they support the anglers choices within the laws. So whats the problem? -

Stone do you have any hard evidance ( in writing ) of this not supporting C&R I looked over their home page and did not see anything either way, but as Tournament anglers are on the page it would lend at least me to beleive they support it. -
Rethinking Line Size/diameter/invisibility
Feathers and Fins replied to abkeenan's topic in Table Rock Lake
The ( A- Rig ) is a reaction bait, it is designed to get very active feeding fish. It does great on schooled fish that are actively feeding. BUT i have seen it thrown into a wide open bite and not get one fish as they were on single baits cut from the bigger bait ball. In that case lighter line single bait was the only way to get a bite. Nor do I think it will work on fish that have time to follow or get a good look at the bait first. It is a tool no better or worse than any other in my tackle box. -
Attacked At Bass Pro Shops!
Feathers and Fins replied to Stoneroller's topic in General Angling Discussion
LOL, I had the ADT guys 2 weeks ago about the same time. Told them " You just came to my house at 7pm after i worked all day and interupted my dinner you need to leave people alone at their house " He to left with an attitude. Now I do not mind the kids comming at night trying to sell stuff for school functions and sure dont mind girl scouts selling cookies. I understand thats when they have to because of being in school all day. But i am sick of door to door roof salesmen, alarm salesmen and Churches..... They get a very un-nice go away and dont come back. -
Cant speak for BS but on BL when I get into an age group its a good clue there are other age groups in the area. That is when I stop trolling and start working over an area very methodically... The 4'' keitech swim baits on 1/4oz heads get pulled out and cast away from the boat in all directions trying to locate if there are bigger fish below the schools or if it is a mix of fish and the smaller ones are just more aggresive and active. Normal time spent on them is 20 minutes. If by then All i have caught were the same age class I will move on and keep looking. BUT pay attention to depth and type of bottom and structure where you were getting them and then move on to an area that has those same features and fish it. I have found they want the same features and the bigger ages might just be 200yards down the road. I think people spend to much time trolling and not enough time figuring out the WHY'S thats why I like to stop when i pick them up repeatedly in the same area trolling and try and figure out why, By throwing the swim baits. Durring summer I have even been known to take a dive.

I use 5 spoons with hooks in AR. But found it best to switch to a single hook the trebles do get hooked up bad on each other... The best spoon is a redfish spoon that is weedless. You have to paint it White or whatever color.
