  1. Bedding fish are seriously flakes on Beaver Champ. I was out last night with a friend in preperation for this weeks tournament and we found fish from 2 to 6 pnds on beds but you ger near them and they were bailing off fast. Im betting TR is the same.
  2. JD I beg to differ... You ever been to Golden Coral on a 2 for 1 night??? There are Carnivores and scare me more then any animal in the wild... well except maybe the Conways on Swamp People lol.
  3. Crappie John Crappie Jig, Ive caught tons of big bass on it, no clue why they like it but they do.
  4. RR, Expect crowds, But alot of nice trout. BVTW Lots of trout but dont get locked into the area at the base of the dam, explore Parker Bottoms area. Sculpin patterns always my go to on BVTW im looking for Big trout and Walleye. If you have a boat or canoe Dont pass up the area from 62 bridge south to Holiday Island for more warm water species as well.
  5. Bill I could see it if the Rock was in good shape its only a 4lb average for 3 days but with the lake messed up right now I just dont see it happening. Take in to account that is putting it all togeather 3 days in a row, lake conditions, more rain possible and hazards in the lake to wat for along with so many people being out because of the weather. I think its stretching it a bit. Now i could see three days around 42lbs for a guy that gets a decent pattern formed.
  6. Oh I will. This time im not leaving my vest at home. maybe it will be down to 0 gens.
  7. Not sure the price rang you are looking in but I would suggest the Shimano CVSFL76MB baitcaster. Or in casting TMS76ML. I am just a fan of shimano gear with the warranty and they work.
  8. 57lbs ???? Thats a far stretch with TR in the shape its in. 19lbs a day average. Even under the best conditions that might be a stretch. Heck my best 3 day total on Toho was 72 and thats Big Florida Strains with a couple 10lb kickers. I think someone is drinking from the Kentucky Spirits bottle.
  9. I was corrupted by Ducky today there I was doing my job working super hard and somehow we ended up fishing the outlets today togeather. Ok in all do defense to Ducky who we all know has to have his arm twisted maybe this picture had somethign to do with it. LOL. Im a little stinker but when there is water and fish and i have time im fishing.. 4 gens going but still getting to see a friend and catching a few fish is fun. I was laughing at the monster fly Duane was throwing but dang fish wanted it. So did I and now im going to show them to stripers, thanks Ducky.
  10. Jay, If its predawn I would go sit between the east bouy line of PC and the Island with Bino's and watch for surface activiety.
  11. Just let the dog out and there were three fire flies. Seriously what the heck does this year have in store.
  12. Al i will always revert back to my Salt Water roots. I use to have a old nail bag that i wore on the boats on my fighting belts belt. It had 12 iron jigs, 8 bucktails in the top, Middle had a few packs of assorted grub tails in White, Pink, Black and Neon Green. The bottom pocket held my weights, hooks and swivels. This was for One Day head boats. It was all I needed and all at my finger tips. I still to this day go with what works! Even on the boat its terminal tackle, Grubs and the lures i know produce day in day out.
  13. Ive enjoyed reptiles all my life i just got lucky enough to make a business of them for awhile. A friend told me once it was far easier for him to name the list i hadnt worked with then the ones I had lol. He was right though when i stopped to think about it.
  14. Quill. I would have been happy to get it, I could resale that one fore about 75 bucks lol. Thanks for the pics Amigo i always like seeing them.
  15. I just re-read it myself. I was laughing so hard I made a ton of typeO's and durring the re-read I was still laughing. We had fun yesterday
  16. Sadly i got that beat. Snow-bird season in florida....laws of nature should tell little old ladies that gravity is not attractive
  17. Now where are the dang walleye and why they still got eggs this late in the year.. I wanna catch a walleye < kicking feet on floor>
  18. Na Randy, two days in the sun and a nasty burn to prove it, I think the sun got to me, I am all better now that I got a shower. Besides i was tired of the same old stuffy report of stripers in Avoca, kinda glad things are getting a little diffrent as i think the Beaver that lives in Avoca was about to start charging me rent.
  19. Its Bikini season on Beaver lake. I wish there was a law or at very least a reminder to women about what is the maximum weight limit a bikini can hold and its not 300lbs that poor water ski.
  20. Alright ladies and gentlemen boys and girls and all the ships at sea. Now is the time of year to start looking for the Stripers to be blowing wide open on top water. After Chief and I went yesterday for a whopping 1 bass, I was a tad frustrated to say the least. So today I made a ton of phone calls to as many of my friends and accomplices for active duty. The call went out for one reason find the and sink the Evil German U- Stripers, I managed to round up 10 American Destroyers for the fleet who owed me a favor more like I ended up owing them some beer for defending the waters of the lake from the U-Boats. The fleet started out from all points near and far to locate the Submarine Wolf packs that had been reassigned from their winter patrol zones. Sonars pinging the motley little ships did advance on all areas from Beaver shores to the dam and the results were in. U-striper boats and located them in their might wolf packs. They were located in large packs patrolling at 15 to 22 feet of water during the bright sunlight but never far from the schools of Cargo Shad. The poor Cargo and little large Gizzard Freighters were being stocked by these large wolf packs and all that was between them and certain destruction was the small fleet of Destroyers. The packs were at ambush points sitting off long sloping points awaiting the Cargo and Freighters waiting for the sky to darken to better hide their attack. As the day grew longer the Convoys of Freighters and Cargo ships tightened up in hopes that in massed numbers the Wolf-packs would find targeting a single one more difficult. The Valiant little destroyer with depth charges a-ready were posed around the convoy. About 5pm the first of the attacks started coming in from areas that had some protection from the sun. One attack after another with some of the U-boats being so brazen they surface with the deck cleared of water while other came out so fast the rudder showed. The little destroyer fighting with all guns and depth charges ablaze attempted to defend the convoys. At about 8pm the last of the wolf packs had been defeated. All reports to the Central Command were the same , convoy after convoy being attacked from below and surface and balled up so tight you could see the disturbance in the water they were creating trying to flee this way and that. Then the striper fast attack U-boats attacked in reckless disregard for sky and sea as they were coming full on out of water backs and tail flying out and mouths agape to eat the up the little convoy presented before them. There was no rhyme nor reason to where and when the attack would be accept that it was off long points and it was only as the sun was obscured so they could make the attack without having prior warning. I believe this attack will last for a week or so until the temperatures in the lake starts to climb again, currently at 59.7. Shad spawn at 70 so when the lake warms they will start moving shallow again and looking for hard areas to lay their precious cargo. This could very well give us a second shot at stripers in Prairie Creek, Avoca, Beaver shores and long rocky points. It could also give us two top-water bites this one that’s currently on and a second one during and right after the spawn.
  21. Wayne you bring up Tablerock, though I never saw it in its glory clear days I have heard about I can releate to clarity. My home waters of southern Cali were crystal clear, Growing up I could see bedded fish in 15 feet of water and even fish in 30ft of water. My last trip out there I could see maybe 10ft and that was still clouded to a degree. The problem as I see it is abuse by users, there were beer bottles coke cans all kinds of trash, even had a diaper float past me. In my youth that same time of year the lake was as i first described it. Today its trashed and the water quality nowhere near what was. Population and user are the culprit. My Dad tells me all the time how bad the lakes getting as well. I beleive as our area grows we will se this same problem in our lakes , rivers and streams. I do not know if there is a solution and it troubles me. I see these beautiful prestine waters and hope it never happens here.
  22. Though my experiance is limited to a few creeks on the east, west and central part of the state ( havent seen them all ) I must say the Elk in summer is very clear, Little sugar is also very clear. Fishing is fishing you adapt to do your best in any condition. I do not care if you fish 1 day or 365 days. Clarity is beautiful but the angler must adapt to catch fish no matter what the clarity is.
  23. They are catching no more on the blades then I do using 5 swim baits. Fish are now on two seperate bites, Craw and Shad the fish more in the main lake are on a bigtime craw bite and the A-rig is a poor choice of baits for those fish ive watched them throw and throw and throw for nothing and then a guy go behind them a few minutes later with a football head jig loading up on fish. Where the shad are in the coves and big arms they will get a few to bite the A-rig but the lure of choice is a 3.5 inch jerk bait or 1/2 rattle trap. I said from day one the A-rig has its uses and its times it will be the deadly lure/rig/bait to use but that time is over. I would spend my money on jigs and rattle traps if i was targeting bass. I still keep the A-rig handy for stripers on the surface as I can cast it a country mile, i also keep a pencil popper tied on to an 8ft rod as well. Both the popper and A-rig right now for me are only for full on surface attacks by schooled fish and only because how far i can cast them as i do not like matter fact hate rushing a boat into surface schools. Now the single surface feeding fish I throw a bucktail with a curly tail at that fish most times if its a striper, if its a bass the Pop R is my bait of choice.
  24. I know guys making their own rigs now. They are using JB Weld stick for the heads, smash the sticks togeather in the size they want and form it then paint it. This allows them to attach all the wires to a swivel and mold the head around it. For blades ive seen 100 diffrent configurations from white blades to pink and to black. Its a great experimentation time. Heck I know a guy putting 2 1/2oz weights on two arms so he can slow crawl it on the bottom even.
  25. Call them first for sure, I had a mishap on my trolling motor prop and had a knew one in 20 minutes thanks to Academy carrying them ( electric trolling motors that is ). If they dont Bradford Marine might. I havent heard a bad thing about wolf other than the long wait to get a boat in, but that tells me a lot of people trust them.
