I seen messes of them South of Farmington, MO over the last weekend. I don't have anyone in the family who would be interested in eating them, besides myself, so I left them there for someone else. Good luck to you all, and hope you continue to do well with your hunts.

I was camping at Roaring River State Park in September of 08, when hurricane Ike came through. The lower campground was evacuated, they told us to leave. Being from St Louis, and my 30th birthday, I didn't want to go home. Had no idea how much rain was coming, went to the higher campground. I should have went home. The lower campground lantern holders were under water, could not see the tops. Bad deal. Be safe, listen to those who tell you to leave. Don't drive through water, it can be deadly. We had a couple people die south of St Louis last week due to water quickly rising.

Why not fish from a sea doo? The guy wearing a button down business shirt is what sells me.

Per recommendations from this site, I purchased a Pflueger President, forget the model. I don't fish very often, and this was a decent amount for me to spend. It is a significant upgrade to the stuff I have used for many years. I am very happy with it. I spooled it with 10lb P-line CXX. It is very smooth to retrieve and it has NO reverse spin when it is locked out of reverse. That was new to me. Every other reel I have used has some play in reverse, the President has none. This may be normal for all reels above a Zebco 33, but that is what I have used.

I had a chance to fish for a couple hours on Fathers day thanks to my wife and Mother in Law. I fished in a subdivision pond in South St Louis County. The pond has been neglected for a while and with all of the rain, it seemed to be doing ok. I started in the pond next to a bench that I believe is the primary spot to fish. I was using a Rick Clunn's square bill I believe in shad color. I caught what I dont believe to be a bass. I will need help identifying it. I also caught a decent small largemouth. I seen a bunch of turtles, I seem to attract them. I actually had one come up to where I was fishing at and fully extend his head underwater looking for food. This is my mystery fish. It did not put up a huge fight. It was mostly yellow in color, had a lot of dark spots, nothing like a spotted bass. It was also very thin. Sorry that I did not get a good pic, I was trying the holding my breath trick. Wanted to get it back in the water quickly. .

Interesting. I really enjoy all of the food contributions made. I know this is a fishing forum, but these fill in the downtime.

Great idea, my next 2 weeks are booked solid. Catch a bunch.

Met Jim at the OA big bass tourney. He was very happy to explain what he was looking for, and how he planned on catching them. Hopefully his family is able to cope with their loss.

I tip my hat to them. I really don't know IF it will work, but if no one ever tries.... All to often we like to complain that nothing is ever being done, they have tried something, maybe it needs to be tweaked. I say keep trying.

I believe they generally stock channel cats. I didn't stop, was in between office supply stores. Seen the truck pulling away from the pond, on to Loughborough. Some kids were fishing at the spot where the truck was leaving from.

I saw the stocking truck this afternoon leaving Boathouse lake. Get em before they are gone.

Thanks for the report, sorry about the turtle. Some people enjoy the turtles, I don't like catching them, but enjoy watching them.

Excellent point Joe. So often some one will ask for advice and never return except to request additional advice.

I agree with you Joe, but at the same time, he is asking if someone may have noticed if they really are the same,or if anyone's experience would save him headache. Some times we can share some pro's and con's to save time and hassle.

I have. I would rather catch a lot of short fish over a couple keeps.I throw most everything back. I fish to catch.
