  1. 1/0 on those. I use #4's for White bass and SM sized ones.
  2. I've gone the opposite way. Gear fishing (casting/spinning) just doesn't offer the challenge that makes it worthwhile to me anymore. The excitement, and the feeling of accomplishment, of shooting/skipping a jig, or whatever, into a tight spot and winching out a fish has just deminished. I used to literally LIVE FOR IT, but it doesn't even impress me anymore. 🤷‍♂️ And now that FFS has become such a thing.....I can finally just give it up and move along.
  3. Hands down the BEST topwater bass bug I've ever thrown. Casts easy. Durable. Has multiple retrieve options. Easy to build. And Hookup % is as close to 💯 as it gets. 👍 I just love 'em.
  4. Looks like the same model I had before the tornado. I really liked it, but went back to my old model A Thompson when the Renzetti got destroyed. I have a hangup with rotary tying. Consistent tension on the thread & material is a challenge for me.
  5. The Little Niangua does that. I've seen it raise 3' in about 3 minutes. Smallish creeks that flow a long distance can do that. Folks that live along Gravois Creek have said that they have seen walls of water come busting down the creek, but I've been here for almost 40 years and I've never witnessed it.
  6. We had an easterly wind during the entire White bass run this year, and it was noticably weak. I don't have anything else to blame it on 🤷‍♂️ The Crappie spawn was flakey as well.
  7. The only issue I can recall on those specific boats isn't related to the hull or transom.....but the flooring and hatch lids. Not a deal breaker 👍
  8. Exactly 🙄 What could they possibly see that accurately indicates what is going to happen through the entire weekend?
  9. Weather forecast "professionals" have nothing to sell.... but BAD WEATHER. Nobody hates on them when their drastic predictions fail to happen, but they catch hell when a bad storm happens and they DON'T predict it. So they ALWAYS predict on the heavy side.... playing it safe. Especially on a holiday weekend. Looks like just an average spring weekend in Missouri to me 🤷‍♂️
  10. When all the lights are on, my place is lit up like it has its own Sun, therefore every type of bug in the state loves it here. Some of the insects I see are alien creatures that can't even be identified. And we have a "porch toad" that weighs about 2lbs. 😅
  11. Oh how fun ! Milk it, brother 👍
  12. I have a brown lizard that hangs out in my shop. He was parading around the other day with a fat June bug in his mouth. He was proud and wanted everyone to see it 👍😅
  13. Unregistered Outlaw rig ! They'll hammer ya if you get caught while kids are aboard ! "Not setting a proper example" ya know. 🙄 I dig it nonetheless 👍
  14. I've been a real trooper about it until TODAY. Have been whining and being a big puss all day.....cuz I'm sick of it. I've got things that need to be done, and there's nobody else that can do it. 😔 When I think about the anatomy of my ribcage, and think about all the things I've done and the hits I've taken in the past.....It blows my mind that I haven't EVER experienced this before. This freakin' sucks !!! 🙄
  15. Nice 👍. Yeah I'm down around #5-7 on the left side. It has really taken the wind out of my sails today. Wasn't near as bothersome yesterday or the day before. Happened on Monday. Maybe this margarita will take the edge off....
  16. I YouTubed it and according to "experts" there I'll be lucky if I get relief within 6 weeks. I can still do things, within reason, without too much pain.....and experience with similar things has convinced me that it's best to keep moving and doing some stuff if possible. It's worse today than it was yesterday though.....so I either over-did it, or slept on the wrong side last night. I've put off a few tedious jobs and am only doing the easy stuff for awhile.
  17. Yeah I used to recover from pulled muscles and stuff in just a couple days......Now it seems to take over a week. 🙄
  18. That's likely. I poke around and don't feel like a rib is actually "broken". But there was an audible POP when it happened..... even those standing nearby heard it, and that made me pretty dizzy. I almost passed out 😅
  19. Was laying over the side of a boat and swung a battery out of the bilge area.....like I've done thousands of times..... And "POP", fractured a rib 😒 Didn't really hurt that bad, and no excruciating pain to speak of, but I have been dealing with a constant dull ache for several days😕 I'm taking a few days off to hopefully let this thing heal a bit. But I'm wondering HOW LONG it's gonna take ? Anybody ever busted a rib before?
  20. Now listen! Here awhile back you were ultimately concerned about a grandDAUGHTER taking you fishing....but not having a permit. You're all uptight about the GIRLS being legal, but the BOYS are just on their own ! What the hell ? 😒
  21. It shifts into Fwd. & Neutral just fine ..... But fails to shift into Rev. ? If so, then there is a problem with the shift linkage.....or a problem inside the gearcase.
  22. The "GASKETS & Diaphragm" won't keep it from starting. The needle valve, float setting, or a clogged idle jet passageway will.
  23. Pfft ! I wouldn't trade that Yammie 50 for 10 little Merc 4-strokes. 😅 The pics don't do it justice, that's a big, and pretty heavy jon boat. 1760
  24. Our area "first responders" double as weather spotters. They are trained to sound the alarm at ANYTHING. So every time a dark cloud becomes visible, the tornado sirens go off. "Better to be safe than sorry, right ?" 🙄 The problem with that is.... because they sound off all the time, nobody takes them seriously.
