  1. When was the last time that generator was started ?
  2. We're stocked up and don't need to get out until Thursday, so it can do whatever it wants. 👍 Good time to tie flys and clean all the fly lines.
  3. Yeah seriously. In this day & age who is to say that it was a MONKEY?
  4. Yeah when I was in Georgia it was very common to see young kids in the bars drinking beer. Nobody seemed to care one bit. Surely they wouldn't serve them whiskey....but who knows.
  5. Seeing one running around in the ice & snow All NIGHT would be climatic !
  6. Nope, I was too young to buy alcohol then. 😊
  7. I had an Indian girlfriend when I was 14, and if she didn't get what she wanted she'd threaten to kill everybody else.... but never HERSELF. My how times have changed !
  8. I was too. The Brown Derby Bass Pro Shop in Columbia was owned by a guy named.... Dick Head 😅 They actually had fly tying material and the whole 9 yards. Spent my entire paycheck in there many times.
  9. It's done nothing but rain here.....and then freeze. About 1/2" to 3/4" of ice on everything. Limbs and power lines are gonna start falling around here pretty quickly if it doesn't let up soon.
  10. That makes sense I guess. But there's no way that the ones that we are seeing are being operated by someone within sight of them, they come & go from too far away. Oddly enough nobody that I know is all freaked out about them. But all of us would kinda like to know what they are doing. Of course there's all kinds of speculation 🙄 (Highway patrol, COE, Ameren?) If some authority figure doesn't speak up about it..... it's only a matter of time before somebody takes one out with a deer rifle 😅
  11. This one sat over my place for 45 minutes Friday evening. I turned my shop lights on and rode my bike up the road a bit just to get the pic. It came from the south, sat in one spot awhile, then after 40-45 minutes it turned the big light off and headed west.. The part that makes no sense to me is Why is it always at night when it's dark ? I've yet to see one buzzing around during the day, but after dark they are whizzing around everywhere. Practically every night since Thanksgiving 🤔
  12. Waiting on legal permission to start shooting some of these drones out of the sky ! 😅
  13. I was afraid that there had been an update to "The Program" that I hadn't seen yet, and everyone was preparing for an alien invasion. A cook at a local restaurant stabbed the dishwasher in the neck yesterday, and killed him, because he thought he was..."Not of this world". 😬 I mean.....Wow ! 🤔 I'm glad that I never ate his cooking !!!
  14. People across this entire area are loosing their minds......2 truckloads of generators being fought over at Menards, 10 vehicles deep at every gas pump, total madness at all the grocery stores. It's as if nobody has ever lived through a winter here before ! Have I missed a serious news story, or what the hell is everybody panicking about ?
  15. I seriously doubt that Jim Owen throwing a fit would have stopped, or even slowed, the impounding of the White at all.
  16. That's why I requested to see a pic of the boat. 17' boats aren't regularly built with short transoms.......So I question if someone didn't modify the transom for a jet application.
  17. I figured there'd be somebody on YouTube hotspotting all those hatchery dinks. Sure enough 😅 Any of y'all know this dude ?
  18. Well Fire brick wasn't a big thing until NASA started building launching pads..... whenever that was. Mid-late '50's maybe? When did the impoundment of the White River begin ? Not sure why an aluminum boat builder needed fire brick. 🤔
  19. Ahh, that explains the Popeye arms & wicked hand grips on all those brick-plant boys....... because I doubt that they had a forklift to unload them with. 😊
  20. A customer of mine fished the Current right after Christmas and he said the river from Baptist to Parker is absolutely LOADED with 9-14 inchers. "Too many" according to him. He said it was ridiculous.
  21. My Grandpa and Great uncle floated a large portion of the White River, the year that Ouachita boat co. began......Not sure what year that was, but they went out of business in the early '80's. Not sure why, but the owner of the company needed fire-brick and he traded a new boat & trailer to them for hauling the "skids" of firebrick to him. Now......I heard the story all of my life and still don't know what a "SKID" of brick is ? 🤔
  22. Strike King Shim-E-Stick in Grn.pumpkin is the only ones in my boat. I give each one a good stretch before rigging it. They work pretty darn good 👍 The Yamamoto Senko is "the best".... but let's face it, they'll cost you 35.00 per day to use them when the bite is on. 🙄
  23. That definitely used to be the case, but not so much anymore. Rod blank construction and materials (and fly lines) have come a long way in the last 10 years or so. Some of the 100.00-150.00 rods today are just as sweet as the 400.00-600.00 rods were 25 years ago. Hell, even several of the 70.00 Amazon specials are darn fine fishing tools.
  24. My guess is that they will build a new bridge.....THEN close down the old one and remove it. It will just slow traffic down a bit.
  25. Hope everyone enjoys their family & friends, and celebrates in whatever fashion suits them this Christmas. 😊
