  1. On Texoma they might be! I still catch plenty of what I consider "Pure" white bass here on Lake O. But their days are probably numbered. In another 10-20 years they'll probably all be genetically modified to some degree.
  2. When you are catching mutts you'll notice 3 things..... #1- The line pattern is dark and distinct, but different on every single fish you catch, similar to hybrids. And tooth patches are all over the place.....some have a single patch, some have 2-3 patches, and some don't have any tooth patches at all. #2- They often have weird spasms when you grab them, they actually vibrate like they are having a heart attack. #3- When you release them they don't recover and swim away very quickly.....and often go belly up within sight of where you released them. Might as well throw them on ice if you're keeping a mess because they'll die in a livewell immediately. #3 is the reason that bothers me the most, because pure White Bass are pretty hearty and aren't so easily killed. Mutts seem to die easier than a dang shad !
  3. If they do that around here then they apparently go back down before daylight, because you'll never find any above a long stretch of extremely shallow water. What happens here is that when the lake is at normal elevations, and then the creeks get up and muddy, the gravel & sediment settles out over the flats.......So then when they pull the lake down low, like it is now, there is no more than an ankle deep trickle that might be 150 yards wide and 100-300 yards long that separates the lake from the creeks. You can't even float a kayak across it. I've seen gar try to snake their way across that, but nothing else. Little short stretches of shallow water 25-30 yards long, with some flow moving across it......Sure, they'll shoot right across that. 👍 Once the lake level gets above 657.0 then it's like OPENING THE GATES.
  4. Oh everyone did! Who couldn't recognize a pair of middle class nerds in an old Tom's Peanut Truck with Peace signs, Pansy's, and Kilroy's hand painted all over it. 😅 The fact that the ol'man drove that inline 6 cylinder POS all the way there and back without so much as a flat tire, blown valve cover gasket, or clutch failure.....amazes me to this day.
  5. A rather large number of White bass, Hybrid Stripers, and Mutts will run up the creeks immediately after a good rain, all year long. As a matter of fact I tend to catch better sized fish when they are NOT there for the purpose of spawning. September to November is when the juvenile Stripers show up, and I have no idea why they are seemingly absent the rest of the year. They will shoot right through a short riffle even if they have to swim sideways to get through.....But they won't even attempt to shimmy through a long stretch of shallow water. They seem to know how long they can expose themselves to hawks, eagles and ospreys, and get away with it. White bass are native to every river that feeds the Mississippi. As far as I know they've been here since the beginning of time. In my opinion they are the coolest fish we have, and that's why my hackles get raised when these idiot biologists go tinkering around with their DNA. They don't seem to care that they could do irreparable AND PERMANENT damage to a fish species that doesn't need any human assistance whatsoever to sustain itself. Actually does quite well in spite of humans (no length limits & overly generous bag limits). Stripers, and Hybrid Stripers are fun as hell to catch, and they are delicious table fare......but the inbred mutts of the ones that breed with native White bass are undeniably polluting the gene pool......and we don't know yet whether or not that's a desirable thing to initiate. Let's not pretend that biologists have never made an irreversible mistake before ! Hell, everything they've touched has had unforseen consequences.
  6. My parents dropped me off at my great-aunts house, saying they would be back in a few days. Going on 3 weeks later they still weren't back. My aunt and grandparents were pissed, and there was all this whispering over the phone, and private conversations out in the driveway. I remember being sick with worry and nobody had any answers. I could tell that I was "out of the information loop". I honestly thought I'd been orphaned. My dad had a bird dog and I remember being extremely concerned about who was taking care of her ! Unsettling as hell for a little guy 😢 Plus there were gypsy's in town that always hung and camped around the railroad, that I had always been warned to stay away from.....and occasionally they would go sauntering by my aunt's house looking all sketchy. I was silently in terror ! Sad as hell when I think back. Poor little guy! 😢 They finally came rolling back into town in their Peanut Truck, looking like a couple of vagrants.....but acting all cool like everything was chill. Nothing was "chill" about it at all ! I had truly great parents.....but that little escapade left scars that have lasted my entire life. I always make sure my kids know exactly where I am at any given time, and never fail to answer their calls/texts/ect. Oh, and Lindy (the bird dog) was perfectly fine. One of dads hunting buddies was going by twice a day and taking care of her. 👍. Somebody could have at least told me that !!!! 😔 Because every time I sat down to eat I wondered if Lindy was being fed. Phuck Woodstock ! 🫣
  7. Genetically modified, thanks to our beloved MDC biologists. 🙄
  8. Yeah, and it's going to set even longer. 😅
  9. I can't whole heartedly agree with this. If that many fish were killed the banks would b lined with dead fish from start to finish. I suspect that you are assuming that fish always float when they die. In reality very few actually do.
  10. Thankfully I was concieved prior to Woodstock, so I think some Falstaff and Walkers Deluxe are the only thing clouding my purity. 👍
  11. We're still at 655 lake level, and the actual run can't happen in my area until the lake gets above 657.... But I found a tiny creek inflow that they could access without risking getting picked off by a bird of prey. All males, and most are kinda small, but it felt good to get a few bites 👍 Got enough for dinner.
  12. So can one of y'all explain to me WHY you expect to have all these organ failures? You expect your colon to crap out, you expect your heart to crap out, you expect your pancreas to go south, ect.ect. So you schedule all these periodic check-ups so that if any minor imbalance is detected then it can be rectified early, right? Before any actual symptoms are noticable? So anybody that comes down with a health issue is themselves AUTOMATICALLY TO BLAME for not being tested sooner? So don't expect there to be a quality physician available to help you ! It's your fault because you didn't take preventative measures! 🧐 Is that the mindset that all of you have adopted? Not trying to be a jackass here.....So please Ronnie, Marty, ect. don't get all up in arms here !!!!! Just curious. 🤔 There's one organ that nobody here ever seems to suspect a problem with....but that I'm rather concerned about. And that's your BRAIN. 😅 Let's face it....that particular organ has been fed more unhealthy crap over the past 30-some years, than all your other organs combined!
  13. Those CDI coils are a different animal. Resistance tests aren't going to tell you anything because they have condensors inside them.....and some will remain energized when you kill the engine. Careful.... because you can Zap yourself and piss your pants ! 😅 If you are idling ok then I would assume the CDI coils are all fine. Each coil is like an individual switchbox/power pack, so it would be highly unlikely for more than one to blink out at the same time......And they aren't cheap ! So......
  14. Keep them to yourself, would ya ?
  15. I'm sure that I am getting blamed for the other thread being shut down......but I refuse to accept the blame for that. Just for the record! 😉 I highly recommend a colonoscopy for those that truly ARE to blame though. 👍😅
  16. No, no stator, and no trigger (timer base). Instead you have an alternator & crankshaft position sensor that control ignition and injector timing. And a TPS that controls injector pulse width.....All through the ECM. Beings as how yours comes up on plane and runs for a short time at elevated throttle settings.... I'm going to say that the TPS and CPS are likely fine, and that there is a bad wire or bad connection somewhere in the harness....or one of the harness plugs, causing an interruption there. The troubleshooting software is NOT going to tell them where the fault is, but nevertheless the proper way to fix the issue requires access to the diagnostic program.
  17. Oh Great 🙄 Belt driven alternator and CDI coils. You're gonna have to visit a Mercury dealer and have them do computer diagnostics on it. I'm sure it stored a code. Hope like hell that it isn't a bad TPS because they are No Longer Available.
  18. No, the voltage regulator (there's actually 2 of them) is on the back exhaust plate of the powerhead. Underneath the plate that the ignition coils and tilt/trim relays are mounted to. This is assuming that your's is standard 150 EFI. Will need the serial number to confirm if it is equipped with a belt driven alternator. Just follow the yellow wires coming from the stator (under the flywheel) .
  19. Sounds like a Hypochondriac Cartel. It's apparent that You, Billethead, and Ronnie approve, but does the AMA condone that ? 😅 I knew a gal that had Munchausen By Proxy......and she could get in to see any specialist IMMEDIATELY. And when I say "immediately" I mean that she didn't even have to take a seat in the waiting room, they ushered her and her perfectly healthy kid right in as soon as they cleared the door. So I totally believe you. 👍 They had frequent flyer benefits !
  20. {heavy sigh} 🙄 Yeah that's what I thought.
  21. Do you have a Voltmeter on the helm ? If so what does it indicate when the engine begins to fall on its face? Is the tach working (not jumping around and acting silly) ? My first impression is that either a voltage regulator has failed, High speed side of the stator is failing, Or the fuel pump driver in the ECM is going south (check the big harness plug that connects the ECM, make sure it is clean and tight). Does the motor actually die.....or just cut back to a lower RPM?
  22. Comprehension error. Which part of my feedback was me "acting like an arse" ? Maybe if I understood what triggered Karen's like you I could do better. 🤔 So please teach me how to converse better. 🙏
  23. I don't remember saying that, to mean Wholesale. My only point is that I'm not in support of challenging doctors to find something wrong with me, even though I feel fine. All that does is give me something to worry about, and totally wreck my PMA. (Positive Mental Attitude)
  24. But wait, a problem could "show up" a week after a test that indicated everything was ok. Is that considered too late? 🤔 I kinda feel like the reason many people can't get scheduled to see a good physician when they really need to, is because physicians are too busy doing all these periodic tests on people that have no symptoms whatsoever. Hell, it took me two and a half months to get scheduled to see a decent dermatologist, and while sitting in the waiting room there were 5-7 people there on that day just for their periodic scans they had scheduled.....No worries to speak of, just getting "looked over" every 4 months just for routine maintenance. 🙄 That would be like me demanding everyone stopping in here for a spark plug inspection and cylinder drop test every month just to keep the money rolling in.
  25. Pretty much. So there wasn't a problem until the doctor said there was?
